Just discovered your channel while looking up old school training on you tube. Iam streetfighter, boxer, and martial artist. And thanks for sharing your awesome knowledge , and home gym work outs! I've been learning for 48 years now, and at age 59, its great to learn new training methods, and techniques. I especially like the dingleball, old school bag gloves, the great fighters that used them, and your outdoor gym has given me lots of ideas to make mine better! This is a great idea. William Edwards calls this the "flying bag" in his book, "The Art of Boxing and Manual of Training" (1888). Edwards also says, if your ceiling isn't low enough, you can hang the bag close to a corner, so it can bounce off the walls.

Please let me know if you build a Dingle Ball Platform... You will be glad you did, it's a favorite for all the folks who work with it ... A friend runs his Gym in town and he wants to build the platform at his location, but the landlord won't go for it... I think that's the main reason this workout is not in all gyms... this is just a mock up of a double end bag. Get your self the real deal. they are called double end bags they are used to work on your footwork and head movement and timing

It's a speed bag with a rope and a platform so if you think more than once before speaking what's it more like, a Dble end/Kangaroo bag as the Punch professor calls it, or a speedbag. Here @ The Jungle Camp Gym Florida, in late January 2013 ~ 80 degrees * The large blue speed bag was bought @ Title Boxing online ! We utilize different size Speed Bags because we enjoy the variation... The Dingle Ball Setup is the key to these workouts. The PLATFORM is what is different from a regular speed bag.. Most platforms are next to the wall in the gyms. THE DINGLE BALL PLATFORM, is away from the wall so the Boxer can go 360 degrees around the speed bag. I have been trying to reintroduce this valuable training tool back to gyms for quite some time! Perhaps by viewing this Tutorial folks will come to learn about this Great Training Equipment ? This Old School Training Tool was common in many gyms across America, during the Golden Era of Boxing. On YOU TUBE ~ You may find old film / video of Champions utilizing this Bag while training. The Dingle Ball/Bag is an interesting fun Bag to work with for improving your Sport Skills. This piece of equipment is great for crossover training ~ DO YOU LIKE to dribble a basket ball ? Iam very much interested in the old school training methods.my favorite boxers are Robinson, Ali, Langford, Duran, Leonard, hearns, hagler,little red Lopez, Joe gans, elmer ray, and Cleveland Williams to name a few. I've also studied the training methods of Bruce Lee all my life, and I've always enjoyed the back yard approach to training. Iam very basic, and use what works for me and what I can apply to fighting. I do train a few students, and I can't wait until spring and summer comes up here in this cold Indiana, so I can have my outdoors training camp, and build some of your ideas, especially the dingle bag stand, and a ring. I always look at this as not just about throwing accurate punches and technique(which is obviously important) but also getting some enjoyable cardio/exercise work done that is easy on the joints, etc. Hitting the dingle bag looks to do just that. Plus anything that the Manassa Mauler did has to be good! Good video!!!

Dave A. Hampton Training ! I hope that you do build one * * * * * Please if you post the workout tool on KZbin make sure I see it ! I am hoping this Training is back in the Gyms, where it belongs ... Notice that with this Platform, we can encircle the bag from all 360 degrees... So the platform must be built away from the walls ... Also the platform is one foot taller than ME ! It works best when the height is right, or close to right ! We have other OLD SCHOOL stuff that we do, and tools we utilize, which are today very rare, but greatly useful .... Thanks. I have been hitting the speed bag for years. But I've never seen the Dingle Ball before. That's good stuff. Also, I just discovered your channel. I like it! It's good to see us old-school guys still in shape and training. I will be checking out your other videos as my time allows me. Yes. I did notice that the platform is away from walls at that it was much higher than normal. I will get it figured out, for sure. good video, nice timing and cool bag also like your tips on going slow I've always told both my martial arts and guitar students the same thing if someone doesn't perfect their technique at a slow speed they just get sloppy when they try to go fast

OLDSCHOOLSAINT ~ Not surprised that you are attracted to this DINGLE BALL/BAG. Yes the Platform is a little bigger than a Speed Bag Platform but not so much. Although Gyms don't have this Platform ready available, also its a fixed Platform the way I have it hung. You would want the bottom of the ball about shoulder level without the Strap being to long. Never seen this before but holy shit. New project to get started on making a platform for it. I have plenty of spare speedbags and swivels. Most of my speedbags are mid size or smaller though, I'd love a bigger one to put some power shots into. I know a lot of people were impressed by Vasyl Lomachenko's tennis ball training, to me this is pretty similar but a lot more effective. Impressive, keep up the work mate.

I trained in the same Boxing Gym as Muhammad Ali, and seen the Champ tell other fighters to shut off their music/radio, and listen to the sounds in the gym in order find rhythm and music for their ears !
