One of the oldest sayings in aviation is (not to kick sand in your Kool-Aid) the most dangerous pilot flying is the 200 hour pilot. That's cautionary, a cue to be especially wary of yourself for the next 100 hours. 200 hour pilots often think they know what flying an airplane is all about. I've got over 20,000 hours and I still learn every time I fly. Best of luck to you always.

The 200 hour warning was one of the first warnings a flight instructor gave me in the late 1970's. it stuck!

I almost never comment, ever... I am fixed wing and rotor wing rated, but only rotor pilot in Southern California at this point. I am always a little nervous flying my wife to Catalina Island over the water for the $400 cheeseburger run. I think a little bit of apprehension is much better than becoming complacent. Great job on the flight, and the prep work from your other vid. Cheers

Actually it was a good choice flying into Bishop and driving to Mammoth Lakes. I flew into there once and although it doesn't look too bad at first sight, the winds off of the mountains make it a white knuckled landing. Later I looked up the accident reports from there and for what might be considered a low use airport, there were far too many.

I used to live in Winnemucca, I knew people who moved there from Idaho because they felt closed in by all of the trees. Winnemucca is basically a stop on the way to somewhere else, with casinos and gold mining the main employers.

If you really want more licenses then look at a instrument rating, you may never want to need it but when you need it you really do need it. I'm a Brit but the first thing my NV and CA friends said was "Don't buy fuel in Lee Vining" especially as I was heading for Hawthorne where the petrol is reasonable.

My first big flight was 650 miles to Branson, MO... home of entertainer-owned theaters all up and down the mountain. It was a meet-up for Velocity Aircraft owners/builders, though I flew my Piper Arrow. Had a scary moment. The ceiling was closing in on me so I kept descending. Suddenly I was approaching a large group of tall radio towers in front of me and to my right with their tops in the clouds. Diverted left to clear, but kind of shook me up. The idea of invisible guy wires concerned me greatly. I did some things wrong which I survived to learn from. The airport in Branson is on the flat top of a mountain. Pretty cool when taking off, the ground just drops away from you. Enjoying your videos. Keep them up.
