He is the real life realisation of CIG's long dead in game tutorial with a Gladius, due to flight model improvements.. I think that's a suitable comparison.

Really dig the different perspectives on the maneuver. That "birds eye" was especially helpful in visualizing the movement thats occurring. Thanks for the video!
@LegacyFleet4 жыл бұрын
Do you mean at the beginning?
@loteknomad50324 жыл бұрын
@@LegacyFleet that would be the most pronounced one, yeah. I assumed it was covering aspects of the maneuver in question, but on second thought it may just be general dog fighting footage. There's another shot at the end that's sort of a "top down", relatively speaking ( I realize these maneuvers play out in 3D space so there is no true top down. ) The external perspective on the two ships engaged in the maneuver was helpful for visualizing the situation.
@LegacyFleet4 жыл бұрын
@@loteknomad5032 You were right the first time, that is external footage of us doing the push maneuver, but as you said it is VERY difficult to capture effectively. We are looking into other options/techniques so I just wanted to clarify, thank you.

Thanks for the new video, right after practicing what’s taught in these videos I was able to ward off smaller craft in my much bigger ship. Specifically gladius against my Cutlass black. My favorite technique in the black versus smaller craft is Blow through into arcing zoom. It lets me attack the enemy easier while also denying positional advantage that smaller craft have so much access to. :)
@LegacyFleet4 жыл бұрын
Yeap, that exact maneuver combination is an exact counter to this kind of maneuver (pushing) against a larger ship. Well done!

Legacy Instructional Series Annnnd now I found a good Sabre player and I can’t do anything t.t, also my auto gimbals were acting weird, the gimbals always said they could target the enemy and then just massively miss for no reason, with no adjustments from the enemy. The cutlass can only go so far -_-. Welp back to practicing, I suppose... also It seems awkward to try to do 3D movement on the keyboard as rolling isn’t as smooth on it.

I always wait for new instructor videos from you. I’ve never believed that a simple (like I though in the past) space pew pew game could have such depth. Thank you for making us better pilots!

Thanks and hopefully we can continue to make these in the future - as new features come online, complexity/depth will only increase, so hold on!

Hey guys, this is mostly directed at Vin/Whitesnake:" Trip Rodriguez here, just finally returned to Star Citizen a couple weeks ago and it's deeply disturbing to discover I can't fight worth a crap in SC after nearly three years away! Super glad to see you have current content, I'll be looking at your videos whenever I find a bit of time here and there. If you have any guidelines as to what to watch given my past experience but total unfamiliarity with the current flight model (and forgetting stuff) please do let me know. Time is short so it's hard for me to watch stuff that's totally remedial but I probably do have to start almost from scratch. Again, thanks for the content!
@LegacyFleet4 жыл бұрын
Trip, great to have you back and I (Whitesnake) am on your Discord server so feel free to reach out that way! As for what to start with, in the interest of time I would do the "How to Fight" series. . Of course it isn't complete but it shouldn't take you too long. Not that much has changed, really practice is probably all you need.

@@LegacyFleet Thanks Whitesnake! I've got a specific a couple specific questions so I'll message you on discord. I actually started watching the how to fly series and immediately decided I need the remedial education too! I've forgotten so much.

I thought I was pretty good until I saw a much better pilot (in an Arrow) use this technique on me and show me what real piloting skills looked like. lol. Thanks you for these. Your videos really have been helping me.

So glad they are helping you. Don't worry, soon you will be doing this to the arrow in return.

I just realized I was doing this without knowing it actually was a thing except I never thought of predicting someone's next move.
@LegacyFleet4 жыл бұрын
Gotcha - and much of the time it is easy to predict their motion if they've been circle strafing you for awhile!

great work but need a video that talk about ALL the part of the HUD. you talk about TVI, but in first i think is better to make a tutorial on HUD . thank you for your work! fly safe.

Thanks! We are thinking of adding slow motion too because there maneuvers happen so quickly.

Wait, why does the player goes in the opposite direction of the PiP at 1:30 I am missing something or was it made just for the presentation? Also counter-maneuver is reverse straffe and opposite direction (in this case left). Thanks for the Playlist it's a great value for DF indeed.
@LegacyFleet4 жыл бұрын
Not sure but I think what might have happened is that we had practiced many of these and he anticipated that he would have to switch sides. You can see on the video that the target arrow switches, that due to what happens with the positioning during the min-blow through if done properly. Having seen this a few times before, the pilot (I think) anticipated this switch and started rotating in that direction earlier.

Reminder! This video is part of the combat flight playlist series, which is meant to be viewed sequentially: kzbin.info/aero/PLEgJY_N_9BcqB2vbhzLAglWDW0incLu_H EDIT: Some have asked what the part at the end about "flowing into an attack maneuver" is all about. This guide, created by Renegade Squadron goes through the advanced considerations for doing this: docs.google.com/document/d/1VRKC2SQD_9tXw6cylxP2hSOMrvh0tOGmi5JV2zv5z5E/ and includes a video link as well.
