Yeah, im moving to pc. My ps plus expired a couple of weeks ago and now i havent touched my ps5 other than astrobot. Now that extra is $135 a year too, I'm probably going to move away from sony. This is some sad days. Also I love how they were saying "the power of the ps5 does this and this.." while showing all previous generation games with a ps5 patch. Its quite laughable

I moved to Steam Deck and GeforceNow last November… and my Xbox Series X, PS5 and Switch have been gathering dust ever since… with the recent exception of the new Astro Bot game, which is very good indeed. In fact, Astro Bot is the first genuinely compelling game I’ve played in ages; video games in general just aren’t as fun as they used to be. On GFN/Steam Deck, the games I play most were released nearly a decade ago, but which still provide near endless enjoyment.

Disc drive doesn't matter to me, it's charging £700 for an upscaled 4K/"up to 60fps" mode in the handful of games that will be patched to support it. Never thought I'd call a Sony console launch a dissapointment before..

Not impressed at all with presentation. It is well known that Black myth wukong is struggling to run 60 fps on the PS5 performance mode so why not show that game running smoothly on the pro?

I'm waiting for release to see if I buy or not. I'm probably 90% to buy just need the nudge to fully commit. I need to hear it from users once it's in the wild. Just hope cex ps5 trade doesn't drop when it does come out.

I think $700 is a fair price given the world economic realities that prevent the PS5 from being reduced in price. $200 over the base PS5 makes sense, but the lack of a disc drive, even though I don't use it, is itself an unacceptable price increase, however. The separate drive is a genius move on Sony's part from a manufacturing and business point of view, but it is not as consumer-friendly as it appears. Also, I don't have to buy an expansion SSD because 2TB is all I need, which saves some money. I probably spent $700 buying a launch PS5 with a nice 1TB SSD.

Only Question which remains is why not wait for next year to launch PS6? New upcoming AAA titles in next 1-2 years wouldn't be able to run very well on this pro model either.

They wont lol. Plus it's not like all pc owners have a rig that's so good that it runs everything at max settings. Most of the pc players have a low budget to mid budget PC. Same goes for the ones going from pc to console they'll get a low budget to mid budget PC. Which If I get a pc I'm dropping at least $15K. My friends that work on computers and tech said what ppl get for the ps5 price point was the equivalent of a $1200 PC(this is based on ps5 initial release date). Sony acknowledged long time ago they were taking a hit releasing the ps5 at the price they chose. They were going to rely on volume for profit. Not the majority of their profit coming right off the retail price.

Good heavens... They've lost the plot. Read the market. Currencies are still in shambles, and the cost of living crisis hasn't gone away. Sony here has failed one thing: Reading the market and how consumers will react. £700 alone is far too much for a console. To add the stand and the disc drive will take it over to £800+. The average consumer isn't going to spend that much on a console. Period. This isn't funny anymore. Even for an enthusiast console, this is far too steep. The only good thing is more storage, but it's also bad because that means it's more expensive. The upgrades aren't worth it either. Keep it. I'll stick with my original PS5. If I need another one, I'll either get a slim or an officialy refurbished fat console. (when that goes on sale)

Sony is desperate. Concord flopped badly. But genuinely what even is the Half Generation model? Like who is this for? PS4 users who don’t have a PS5? PS5 user who want slightly better graphics? Either one is going to be priced out by the $700 price tag. Chances are people sticking with PS4 don’t want to upgrade their system because the PS5 is already too much and PS5 owners don’t want to spend even more money Plus you got people like me who have physical discs so now either I get a pro and keep my PS5 for disc games or hope I can sell it for something, and get a disc drive. Either way this is all so stupid especially when PS6 is going to come out within 4 years. Calling it now in a year after the PS5 pro flops, they’ll slash it by $100 and include a stand and disc drive. Don’t it will help the PS5 much

@@night6724 I concur. It's like we're paying the price for Concord's failure. Probably isn't, but that's what it feels like to me. Also, I'd only entertain in the thought of a PS5 Pro if the price came down enough to a justifiable level, but we all know that isn't going to happen.

Um, regardless of Sony being stand stingy, that's still much less money than an equivalent gaming PC. Enticing for a PS4 owner finally looking to make the jump, not cheap mind you but that bump in performance is clear. Edit: No disc drive? Is that for-real? OK, if so that is kinda whack.
