Kherson is not even close to Ukraine's third largest city. The third largest city is Odessa. Second Kharkiv was never captured by Russia, they were on the outskirts of the city but they never took it. I do not think "liberating" cities means the same thing to Russia as it does to most of the rest of the world.

I'm very concerned about the deal Zelensky and the UN made for Azovstal, tho. 260 was it? Over 200 wounded fighters evacuated to Russian backed separatists for treatment? I'm not buying it. The whole thing just reeked of a saboteur from the get-go. Half of what mainstream media were saying even sounded like total bs. It would have been so easy to just drop a Trojan Horse on the Russians while Ukrainian troops surrounded them and put down cover fire and distractions on all sides, and the civilians escaped through the tunnels and fled on foot out of the city, and/or scooted quickly into vehicles. And now the Russians are putting fake narratives over the footage of the wounded leaving, and saying that almost a thousand Azov warriors have surrendered. This is deeply troubling bc western sources are saying that the able bodied fighters in fact *did not* leave. The Russians also have a horrible array of weaponry that has been outlawed under the Geneva Convention, control of Mariupol and any media that go in there, zero regard for human life, and a tendency to tell insane lies about the war. Do the math. What do you think the Russians will do to the remaining troops inside Azovstal to prop up their imaginary 'Nazi' narrative, now that everybody (most Russians at least) believe they've surrendered and are no longer inside the compound? President Zelensky is still my favourite politician ever. (Dude can play piano with his penis lol) But I feel he was duped into a decision that may be disastrous for his country. He should have listened to what the Azov fighters wanted, evacuated the wounded to a neutral area, and let the able bodied soldiers finish their fight. I hope there is a plan to retake Mariupol in place. The destruction is horrific. Mass graves with at least 9000 people in them, hundreds of civilians, including about 120 evacuees from Azovstal getting shipped to Russian *-filtration-* concentration camps, and just lies on top of lies about who's responsible. The Ukrainians can't leave those mass graves in the hands of the Russians after the way they've lied and lied to cover up their war crimes. Just think critically for a minute about all the reasons why that would be a huge mistake in terms of... oh idk... the outcome of the war, the results of the war crimes investigations, the future history of Eastern Europe and maybe even the fate of the entire civilized world... And wth happened to President Biden? Didn't he say the west would get involved if the Russians started using chemical weapons? I'm pretty sure the Russians' white phosphorous bombs should be included in his ultimatum.

The front lines in the area have moved back and forth without clear momentum on either side. Russian advances in Luhansk have continued, albeit slowly. Still over 90 percent of Luhansk is under Russian occupation. Near Kharkiv, some Russian forces remain to the northwest, while a move east across the river by Ukrainian forces is building. It is unclear how effectively this counteroffensive will cut off the supply lines to Izyum. The Russians have reinforced and are laying down tough defensive lines.

From a militarily strategical point of view, the current situation is very interesting because as described in the video both the Ukrainians and the Russians are threatening to encircle and trap large forces of the opposing army. Both sides recognize this, and recently the Russians have been willing to risk heavily for great gain like the recent attempt to cross the river by contructing pontoon bridges and lost an estimated 2 BTG (fully armored and equiped units of maybe 800 men each). It's actually Ukraine which appears to have the more agile, more mobile force trying to outmaneuver the otehr. If sometime in the future Ukraine can expand control of the Kherson area and/or drive down and retake Mariupol, Ukraine could cut the land bridge across the mainland from Russia to Crimea and all points west, effectinvely ending all Russian hopes to win the war. At that point, Ukraine should be able to disable if not destroy the critical Kerch Straits bridge which would effectively cut off Russian troops on Crimea from being resupplied from Russia. Russia knows this and the Ukrainian separatists know this, so if if a Ukrainian counter offensive starts making progress, we''ll start to see how badly the Russians and separatists want to fight for Russian rule. I'm going to guess that Ukraine will continue to make progress expanding in the north and northeast from Karkiv and extending downwards. It's the natural path for offense sine it poses the least problems depenidn on working bridges the Russians may blow up as they retreat. The big question will be the taking of Izium, it looks like the Russians are massing treops there to make a stand and maybe the only way to take it is the type of destruction usually seen by Russians... Unless the Uktraines are given precision weapons. Only then, maybe armor can be hit precisely hidden between the packed buildings, and hit only the specific buildings with Russian troops in them. Otherwise, unless Ukrainian soldiers want to risk immense numbers of deaths, some indiscriminate building leveling may be needed. The world should recognize this and make sure that Ukraine has a good supply of precision weapons to minimize casualties.

Izium is already leveled after russia seized it. So it's only the civilians left that they must take into consideration. Hopefully Ukraine intelligence is good enough, to know where most of them are. And avoid harming them. Ukraine is already in range with artillery to hit the areas West of Izium. As the attack at a russian staging area in Zabavne has proven. And Izium itself, after Ukraine hitting a officer meeting, last month. But Ukraine needs to get closer to Kupyansk, that the russian logistic center for their forces in Izium and around Severodonetsk.

You have really drunken the Kool Aid. There is no encirclement by the Ukrainians. From the vague description, it seems like you refer to the area of Kharkiv, but the Russian units are difficult to encircle, as they can always retreat over the border into Russia proper. What we are seeing, is that the Ukrainian regular forces are trying to make small easy gains on a front that the Russians keep in a purely defensive state, while the Ukrainians leave the defense of Donbass mostly to local defense forces. This small scale offensive is mainly designed to force the Russians to relocate units from Donbass to the area of Kharkiv, but the Russians refuse to do so, and seem to be happy with trading territory In Kharkiv for territory in Donbass. Kherson on the other hand will not fall. Russia is currently full steam ahead of integrating the oblast into Russia, economically as well as administratively. That means that the Russians will and have to do everything in their power to prevent the recapture by Ukraine, also to secure the water supply for Crimea. People like you always seem to forget that the Russian army mostly consists of professional soldiers. If need be, Russia can still fully mobilize and send in hundreds of thousands of conscripts - just as the Ukrainians are doing at the moment, but with bigger reserves.

Russian say Ukraine were wrong using airstrike on resident area but they show Putin a middle finger. When right or wrong cannot stand as conclusion mean win or lose must be used to force out an outcome or how war happen. Russia win, Ukraine must stop using airstrike on resident area and accept Donbass independent. Inshort, what happen in Ukraine today till bombed like living hell cos Ukraine should not disturb a sleeping tiger or that indeed the consequences since everyone aware on military aspect, Ukraine no match compared to Russia. Inshort, if Russia have interest in Ukraine, this war should happen 8 years ago, not today. And why not, you convince everyone here, Russia attack Ukraine mean they were wrong? Cos Russian see themselves responsible on ensuring peace in countries that once made of soviet or why they sent army to Khadastan recently before invading Ukraine since Putin said they have an agreement. Yes it does. The Ukrainians are excellent at cutting supply lines and they are definitely putting themselves in a position to strangle the concentration of Russians in the Slovyansk region. They are slowly bringing longer range artillery into the fight and will be in a position to pick off Russian howitzers from outside of Russian range. The Ukrainians are withdrawing to prepared positions on some fronts when they need to but they are inflicting huge casualties in the process. Ukraine is talking about fielding a million man army, so don't assume time is on Russia's side.

As other's mentioned, Kherson is not the third largest city. Western analysts believe that Kherson city is not secure for the occupying Russians. But Russia is digging in North and East of town. The Ukrainian forces in this area have not received the advance artillary and are having trouble advancing. Hence Mykolaiv, where my wife is from, is under constant bombarment. There is a good possibility that these Russian forces could get trapped West of the Dneiper river when the expected Ukrainian offensive starts.

His analysis is pretty much exactly what I see as well. Hit them on the flanks, Kharkiv and Kherson force them to the middle and annihilate them. The supply route to Izyum will be completely destroyed one way or the other. With troops at the border Belgorod is fair game too. This whole line will be trashed in a week or so. The 22 battle groups in Izyum will be wiped out and the Russians horde collapses. I thought it would happen sooner, like this week, but as long as it happens another 2 or 3 weeks wont matter.

Kharkiv is a biggest and administrative city of Kharkiv oblast(it’s like state in America). Kharkiv oblast is big place it borders Russia, Luhansk and Donetsk. Just like New York State and New York City is just a city in it. So yes, Russian has occupied most of the Kharkiv(oblast) until recently Ukrainian retook it from Russian almost near to Russian border.
