I saw Larry Bird play against the pistons in 84. I was 14. That game was not professional basketball. It was straight street ball. If there was no blood, it was no foul.

Yeah you nailed it. We don't hear all the upbeat encouraging stories about larry...he smashed everyone so hard with all the other stories, but he was a real inspiration and lift to his team mates when they might have had the worst game of their career...not enough of those stories, just because the other side of larry was unbelievable...I guarantee his team mates over the decades have stories of encouragement that we've never heard

If you want to know Larry’s biggest secrets find a video of him signing a contract or an autograph. Larry was left-handed. He learned to throw right-handed because his older brothers were all right-handed. They all loved baseball so Larry had to adapt using a right-handed glove. Larry trained himself to shoot better with his off hand than most do with their dominate hand. Every game I ever saw,Larry made left-handed passes and shots but it looks so natural it is easily missed. Usually his left-handed shots were midrange or closer. Imagine guarding a man that can shoot and pass with either hand.

He loved the lefty hook from the left side of the key. He was pretty close to full on ambidextrous.

He never shot left handed...every single two handed shot he made in these videos was right handed. The only left handed shots he made were one handed. Show me one video of a two handed shot he has left handed...it doesn't exist. I've never seen one video of a step back fade away jumper left handed from bird....

Welcome back Pzo, great job. I was fortunate enough to have seen the NBA in the 80s, greatest era in history. The era of the Superstars. Magic, Kareem, MJ, Nique, Glove, Stockton, Mailman, Kemp, Chambers, Dr J, Moses, Charles, Clyde, Patrick, Zeke, Hakeem, etc. Know what? Larry beat em' all. King of the 40/50/90 club. If I HAD to name a G.O.A.T. MJ #1, Bird #1A (sorry LeBron) LEGEND!!!! 🏀

What is truly the best legacy of Larry Legend.. is the other players that give him the respect.. That's amazing. Larry was different.. he earned his respect.. he talked trash ..but backed it up.. and never played dirty. Just a great Basketball Legend.

Bird was never a bragger......not his style. Lol Its so puzzling to me that these greats speak so highly of Bird but when people talk about the best they never put Bird in that convo!!! They called him Larry Legend for a reason! He should be in the top 10 convo....at least!!!

There's something about Magic that is so chill. It's in how he speaks, how he looks, his attitude, everything. He radiates a kind of "old soul" type of wisdom; like he's had many more past lives than most of us. That guy could give me a pep talk on my way to the firing squad and I'd probably go, "You know what, you're right. I can find a silver lining in this."

Love your reactions my friend! I highly recommend Larry Bird 85-86 highlights. And remember that it's one year, not his full career. There will always be another player that gets put in the "GOAT" class, but their will always be only 1 Legend. Larry Joe Bird

I remember when Larry came into the game and I was a Knicks fan until I started watching Bird and I couldn't believe how this player was just dominating, didn't matter if he was white or black or freaking red. This dude was just different. Oh yeah he made you think he was stupid. Uh-huh he was that good because he was very very smart.

I was born Larry's rookie year so I really only remember the last 5 years of his career or so as he retired when I was 13. I do have a Larry Bird story though. In the late 80s, I went to a Cs game with the Cub Scouts as our end of the year trip. During shoot around before the game there was a rookie F named Kevin Gamble for the Cs working on his jump shot. He shot one from about the free throw line that bounced off the front of the rim as it was going in and all you hear is Larry Bird saying " Hey Kevin, you can get 2 basketballs through that hoop at the same time so there is no reason why you should be touching the rim at all" not the greatest story ever but it was funny to me as a kid

Dude, good get and good commentary on Larry Legend. Most of these clips I've seen (but never get old watching), but a few I hadn't seen, so thanks for that. As a very young kid growing up in a suburb about 10 mins from Boston proper, Larry hit the scene from Day 1 w the Celtics and let even the veterans know who was boss. TREMENDOUS confidence in his game. Not in an arrogant way, but Larry said a couple vets tried to do some hazing on him early during his rookie season, and Bird said to the whole team he wasn't having ANY of it. And not one of the vets said boo to Larry afterward LOL. Larry's only downfall was he was ULTRA-competitive, and because he trained and played soooo hard, his body wore out on him. BOTH achilles, his notorious low back for multiple years (and for one year near the end of his career forced him to "live" in a body half cast when he wasn't playing because his back was soooo badly injured). He even had a seriously disfigured index finger from a NASTY softball injury sustained while playing with his brother, who got sick when he saw Larry's finger. Bird said because of that finger injury, he wasn't as good a shooter for the rest of his career LOLOL.. Scary! But for a period during the mid 80s, many bball pundits were calling Bird the GOAT, while still in his prime, before all the injuries hit, while he was in the midst of 3 straight league MVPs ('84-86). A baaaaaaad boy he was.

Giveaway. Congrats on the subscribers! First time seeing one of your videos and I just subscribed. I appreciate hearing what coaches and Magic say about LB. There's one moment in the Lakers-Celtics championship (I believe it was 1984) at the Forum where LB and Magic fist bump. There's a still shot of it (LB's back to camera and Magic facing it). I'd love to know the context for that gesture mid-game! It seems pretty significant. Love their relationship. Thanks for considering and again, CONGRATS on 25K!

He didn't say INTO the trainer's lap, even though that version is more fun. What he actually said was trainers lap, it didn't mean he would fall into the trainers' lap, but he was going to make the shot, from where the trainer was sitting. which was a 3-pointer. once again telling the opposition what he was going to do, then do it.
