Thank You Mike. You hit it right on the spot on 2:05 about the benefits of a stand-alone and not having to buy each program for each cars/project setup. A stand-alone will work on all setup. I’m actually in that position with a B Series All Motor and slowly building a K series on the side. Why get a S300 and KPRO separately when I can just get 1 stand-alone and utilize the standalone for both projects considering if I’m only driving 1 car. Great stuff!

Mike, thanks for the follow up video. You make good points about the time it takes to tune a Hondata and the condition of the old Honda ECUs. To add to that second point, the engine wiring harnesses themselves can also be a problem with corrosion, broken connectors, or shoddy splices by previous owners, especially for D and B series engines. That might be something to mention going forward since working with brand new parts and components is such a time saver and has less stress. If someone is going to spring for a new aftermarket harness from Rywire, CJ's, WireWhere or whomever, than they can just get one made for whatever standalone they're going to use. I think a good video in the future would be to show a basic overview of wiring up a Fueltech unit with a prebuilt harness. Most DIYers are very hesitant to do wiring , and from what I've seen working on cars, most of the ones that aren't scared probably shouldn't have even tried it in the first place. Most DIYers appreciate plug an play solutions, so if that can be added as a package option, either with an adapter harness or a completely new harness, it might gain popularity.

So, here at my country, fueltech is the most popular choice, and it open the possibility to modernize you engine (coil on plug, sequential ignition, etc). The cost really is a problem, but you are buying something new that will bring security to your project

Humble Performance made a video about Haltech Elite 550 vs Hondata S300, he made a lot of pointers why Elite 550 was better. In Summary, Elite 550 or the Fueltech 450 is better for having room for growth. Coil on Plugs, Traction Control, Multiple Sensors, O2 Closed Loop Control, Staged Injection, NOS Window Switch and everything custom that you need and of course faster and fresher units. Because in the end having all those addons for the S300 will be more expensive than the FT450 or Elite 550 P.S. - Waiting for you to release a harness for FT450 to B-Series

IMO the dozen gauges in the the JDM cars is less about the data than it is about the look. Personally, I like my original cluster. I would rather use an output off a standalone to blink the check engine light and pull a tablet out than see the touch screen. If I suddenly found myself with an unlimited budget, I would most likely go Haltech.

It seems so complicated to set up like the single cam crank signal is in the distributor on z6…. So I have y8 lower and upper but running my z6 harness and distributor.. my y8 crank sensor is still in location. I love the whole aspect of learning to wire but does fueltech wire harness come with the braided loom to cover the wiring or is that extra also. And what about the map does it have pre configured base maps to upload, and all my gauges become useless fuel pressure, oil pressure ect..ect… < 100.00$$$$$ out the window Is there a kit that comes with everything bundled,, wideband, oil pressure, flex fuel , wheel speed, shock, egt’s ,hot side back pressure. what is the number on this type of setup, and what model is best suited for what I’m trying to do And the data is limited at 160🧐but is something new coming….. I’m still on gen1 from wang

I dont get why this is so hard for people to understand.. Our local tuner has been saying it for years. For one Hondata is out dated. And two its extremely overpriced compared to running just a chipped p28 on HTS or Neptune or even a Demon board. If you're not going to be tuning the car yourself you don't need Hondata or any other emulator, just get a socketed p28 or equivalent. And now with all these lower priced stand alone units coming out, Hondatas days are numbered. If Hondata wants to survive theyre going to have to adapt and lower their prices significantly. Or else they'll fade into obscurity within the next few years as the market and technology progresses. I have an s300 now, but I only use it becuase it works and i got it cheap. And now I'm super paranoid about the capacitors leaking. When i store my car in the winter i take the ecu out bring the ecu inside because im afraid the drop in temp may cause a capacitor to leak. These are the things people don't think about. If I had the money I'd be running a newer standalone.

You are talking retail prices on hondata, just search the groups and you can find an s300 with COP BBG for 5 to 600 total and its plug and play. If you have thousands of dollars then yeah buy the new tech, but for the average guy Hondata is cheap easy, and plug and play.... Why cant there be an app for your smartphone that runs as an ECU and you plug it into a USB adaptor thing that you connect the main harness into. Probably all smartphones from at least the past 10 years are fast enough to run as an ECU.
