Dude I feel like we could be friends- not to lean into some sort of parasocial type stuff but like loving these games and their stories and being a hardcore vocalist "back when I was younger and angrier" sounds exactly like something I'd say lmao

Thanks for making this! You're a great character to add to the pantheon of Soulsborne Lorehunter Tube. Feel free to sprinkle in more autobiographical tidbits and inside jokes going forward! Thats a lot of fun. (The Miyazaki stalking joke was great) Here's my big question for you: Why is your speaking voice in these videos so wildly different from your hardcore vocalist voice? (soft vs. robust)

I think it’s because doing the hardcore voice killed my vocal cords over the years, so my speaking voice is a little more soft and raspy now.

Thanks for answering my question :). If you liked Inside I highly, highly, highly recommend Little Nightmares. That game’s atmosphere is like no other, it’s so eerie and weird and wrong. They tell a story with nothing but visuals, Little Nightmares is already a great game and the second one is one of my favorite games of all time its literally perfect like it has 0 issues I’m not even joking it’s peak. Everything it does it does flawlessly and does what a sequel should do. Judging by the favorite book and the anime question you have to go and read Berserk I recently got all the books for my birthday and it’s also praised as one of the greatest story’s of all time. And I’d say technically watchmen counts but I was more talking about just words on a page than a comic book, ig it’s more like a favorite story id say. 9 more days till the DLC WERE SO CLOSE ‼️‼️‼️

I love Little Nightmares! Haven’t played the sequel yet though. Also I’m currently reading through Berserk and it’s amazing. I just didn’t include it because I’m not caught up yet. I’m on Volume 18 and it’s so good, the hype is deserved

@@timdiggity I haven’t read it yet, but i already know it’s going to be incredible. Culture has built and hyped it up enough already and I can’t wait so see why. I’m holding off on reading just because I want to read it next week because it’s the final week of school (and with school out of the way it would be more enjoyable), summer starts (my favorite most enjoyable season) AND the DLC drops. It’s a perfect time to start reading it for the person I am so enjoy reading it I’m sure it’s just pure incredible peak fiction.

Since you mentioned Seph as your character and mentioned Max, I would have expected a video on comparing FF7's lore to Elden Ring's lore *cough* :p
@timdiggity7 ай бұрын
Haha I thought about it actually. Max’s video on FF7 made me realize some connections between the Kabbalic Sephirot and Elden Ring. I was going to mention it in a video about The Land of Shadow, but it got kind of bloated and I decided to put it on the back burner until after the DLC
@thecrankyoldman7 ай бұрын
@@timdiggity I've been scratching my head on why nobody has done it. It seems so obvious were going to say hi to a Nyx like character. Or you can even compare elden ring to Persona 3, final fantasy 10, genshin impact, or majora's mask... just seems like such a missed opportunity to connected all these wonderful worlds together.
@thecrankyoldman7 ай бұрын
@@timdiggity Actually, since you mention part of the idea. I see the whole story as the combination of the creature from gnosticism (which is similar to Adam Kadmon), a person's inner world, and largely build around the Carl Jung's human psyche concept. The human being is the ignorant god (demiurge). Which really isn't an uncommon theme in video games, but this time it's just extremely well executed. I see the world we're playing in as the inner world. The main characters represent the major archetypes (animus, shadow, self, persona, ego) and the demigods seem to represent the archetypes (the mother, the lover, the martyr, the rebel, the everyman, the jester, the hero). The NPCs seem to represent complexes (memories and emotions) and the invaders are intrusive thoughts. Elden John, the cultural buildings and statues seem to represent the building blocks that make us who we are, passed down from parents, family and the environment we were born in, which you can find in both the concious and unconscious parts of the mind. I feel we're dealing with a person that's trying to overcome a traumatic event, mainly survivors guilt. So, I'm assuming, based on the other games mentioned earlier, that we're going down the 'Tartarus' route to say hi and to confront the Nyx type character and the traumatic event that caused all the pain and agony, which I'm assuming is the twin-sibling. It just kinda bums me out when people call FF7's their favourite game/story of all time, but then feel that Elden Ring's story doesn't make any sense. Back in the day, every type of media was about overcoming this traumatic event idea. Heck, that's what gave birth to Grunge, Evangelion, Final Fantasy 7, ect... Never knows best.
@timdiggity7 ай бұрын
@@thecrankyoldman Great analysis! And since I’m not going to make the video before the DLC, I’ll share some of my thoughts here. I think the Elden Ring and Radagon/Marika represent the Sephirot/Adam Kadmon explicitly. And I think the Land of Shadow will be a representation of the Qlipoth/Sitra Achra. The shadowy “other side” to the Sephirot tree of life. With this in mind, the title “Shadow of the Erdtree” makes a lot more sense to me. The whole concept of the Sephirot “shattering of the vessels”, and the shattering of the Elden Ring seems like an intentional homage.
@thecrankyoldman7 ай бұрын
@@timdiggity yah, we're thinking the same thing. I guess the only real difference is how Miyazaki turned it into a double As Above, So Below. One represents the concious and unconscious, and the other seems to represent the mind and womb. But ultimately, leading towards spiritual enlightenment. You're coming at it with a more Persona5R look on it, Persona 3 for me. It ultimately just shows how all the different scientific, cultural and religious works borrow from one another, and tell a somewhat similar story. I've actually been putting off playing the Final Fantasy 7 Remake. I did replay Final Fantasy 7 a few weeks ago. It really gave me that FLCL feeling. As a kid, you have no idea what you're looking at, and as you get older... it all makes perfect sense, so you now have 2 different types of appreciations for the same game. Well, I'll be looking forward to seeing the video once you're done finishing the game! You got a great way of presenting information and a good voice for these type of videos! Have fun with the DLC!
