can someone explain why the gears are selected in opposite order? he shifts the knob down for 1st gear, up for 2nd, down for 3rd and up for 4th. Its usually the opposite.

dogleg straight cut gears. shift pattern is like R 2 4 are the upper gears and 1 3 5 are the bottom ones.
