Started my back lawn from seed a couple years ago! Blue couch. Watered 15min every 6 hours first week and slowly cranked it back with time. It’s great for a low mow and grows great in my area about an hour west of Brisbane. Best of luck

@@Chinnys89 Bloody unreal! I wish I could post photos. Scalp core top dressed 3 weeks ago and it’s a picture already mowing around 16mm..weather defently helping though, I must have had some seed lay dormant for 2 years and it’s even decided to take off in small patches around the yard! 👍I don’t think I ever want another turf variety 👍🤣

Mate, been watching your SB vids and I've got some parts down at BCMS now! I'm about 21 days into my QLD Blue (from Mckays) lawn reno, seeded from scratch after a HARD scarify/core/scalp back to dirt, top dressed 20-80mm in areas...and that was after 2x applications of glyphosate to knock the old wintergreen/QLD blue mix I had. The problem with the old lawn was the QLD Blue was not mixed in with the wintergreen, it hard a pretty clear boundary between it and the wintergreen for some reason - neither would penetrate into the other section, very odd. I reckon my germination rate after 21 days, plenty of water but not a lot of sunshine (Ipswich QLD) is around 30-40%. I top dressed, rolled, raked, seeded, rolled, watered and used starter fert + a half-rate application of Champion fert from plant doctor. The only thing I can think that I've missed is a light top dress over the seed, but I think I'll need to overseed anyway, so when I do I'll put another light topdress over it with some compost/soil mix, rather than a sandy loam. The areas that have germinated WAY better are where some of the washout has washed the "soil" part into little pockets. Where the sandy parts are, very little germination is happening. I've had to hit the weeds with glyphosate as nutgrass and summer grass are coming through and I don't want them to dominate my dirt patch before the lawn has established.

@@Chinnys89 I think so. The seed is down now so there's nothing else to do but wait! I'm very surprised you had some germination within 7 days. Took mine a good 14 days for anything to pop, but progress has been impressive over the last week, I just hope it continues as the seed isn't cheap.

Just sprayed out the blue in my green couch. Way too water hungry in dry weather for me. Which type of green couch do you have?
@Chinnys892 жыл бұрын
It’s a hybrid green couch called Agri Dark

@@Chinnys89 I’ve got a section of agridark that I sprigged after our cricket wicket renovation 18 months ago. Awesome variety.
