I'm not Quake mapper but i got just one tip. Four way symmetry is considered very bad practice in abstract level design. Breaking it (even just subtly) makes it more interesting (because you have whole map to explore not 1/4 of it) but also it helps player navigation - he will always know where RL is without having to make 1/4 chance guess.

it is also too flat, must be higher, with stairs, elevators, platforms.

I really dont see this as an entire gameplay sector. It is likely just a repeating gunfight arena. I dont really think and quake players are going to have trouble navigating a 4 way intersection when they are the main mode of hub traffic in this game. Is it good design? Not perfect design. Is it "quake feeling", yes. This room follows a few dozen ideal tropes found in traffic hubs across quake. This is not. The room that draws a player into the map, its a room for shooting and running.

Oh wow! This is awesome for your first attempt, I want to see more Quake 1 maps from you! Then possibly Quake 2 and so on, hehe. I've only just started using TrenchBroom, I find it pretty neat.

Haha thanks! This isn't actually my first map, but it was a test to see how my recording would work. I'm currently working on a 'project' I'll call it for now. Maybe I will post a sneak peak soon :) Its cool to hear that you are getting into mapping. When you finish one please let me know so I can check it out!

Sergeant PieFace Ahh, still a great map though, would be great for a 1v1 DeathMatch ;3 Oh, can't wait to see what you've got coming by the way. Right now I'm trying to create a new Single-player experience, with new maps, guns and maybe even enemies. Hard thing is that the Quake engine has it's limits and I'm still not very good with mapping, slowly getting the hang of it though, haha

I dont map for quake but I do use trenchbroom for projects and my god this is beautiful time to figure out how to add spawnables into custom trenchbroom games

To me this looks like it makes more sense than doom mapping, maybe I’m wrong, but I think I’d like to give this a try first instead of Doom mapping for now.
