@O.K. so, you've squeezed 1 out, now pinch it off ! She would have seen Gauls in Rome, as well as many other races, but if she were black you can be certain the Romans would have said so.They were kind of anal about writing things down. And a black Pharaoh dating Julius Caesar would have caused a stir.

HBO's "Rome" also portrays the meeting between Cleopatra and Octavian but it's brilliant. No juvenile, badly written insults. Instead it's depicted as sophisticated high-stakes bluffing where neither side wants to show any intimidation or hostility. They feign civility and wear fake smiles. When it's over and she's alone with her people, Cleopatra is depicted immediately dropping the facade and having a breakdown...because she knows she's doomed. This Netflix presentation is the dollar store version.

Her death wasn’t some glorious defiance of Roman power. She only killed herself because she was going to be paraded through Rome as essentially a prisoner and Egypt was to become a Roman province. Even if they hadn’t race swapped her this is a wildly disingenuous “docu-drama”. Tried way too hard to frame her as essentially always being right and always being ignored for being a woman as well as for being black by the end of the show by Octavian in the end. She was definitely highly intelligent and educated for the time but she was more influential in the ways of conspiracy, duplicity, and seduction. She wouldn’t have screamed in Marc Antony’s face that she’s the Pharaoh. He’d have put her on the floor. She was too cunning to make such a mistake. Always been a huge fan of Egyptian history and yeah. The race swap is 100% cultural appropriation and an attempt to rewrite history/further indoctrinate black Americans but honestly her actual story is far more intriguing than this fucking nonsense. And we know of at least 1 female Pharaoh who was more male like in her rule. Hatshepsut.

@@bobbyschannel349 You can't know what ancient Egyptians looked like based on current Egyptian population. Populations and demographics change. Especially in ancient times. When a tribe or nation conquered another nation, they would kill off the people of the losing nation. Or they would steal or rape the women, which would cause a mixing of different ethnicities. In the USA alone, the demographics have changed so much in just 100 years. Migration also causes changes in the population. 300 years ago, USA was composed mostly of Native Americans. 200 years ago it was composed mostly of white European settlers. Now it is a mixture of white, Mexican, Asian, black, Muslims, etc. Now imagine trying to figure out the demographics of a country several thousands of years ago.

I seem to sorta think I might remember someone claiming to be my grandmother once telling me "No matter what anybody in school tells you, Cleopatra was so afraid that the hugest pyramid in all of Africa, the famous Cleopatra Pyramid, might tear a hole in the ozone layer, so she had it dismantled and used the blocks to build affordable housing. And that's the reason she became known as Cleo from da Blocks.

She was Greek , culturally and ethnically , and a vassal of Rome who won her throne thanks to Caesar , and ultimately failed in spectacular fashion . Her reputation far outweighs her actual historical significance.

They made an extremely pompous and hateable character and called her cleopatra. What is wrong with these beatrice?? Did they really watch this and think they created a strong, noble, heroic, feminine, smart, or even likable character? It’s insanity

My favourite Jesus moment was when he caused his Chinese brother to start the second most lethal war in human history. Only World War II has a bigger body count. ...I'm not even kidding. The Taipeng Rebellion was weird.
