Ive been married for 27 years. My sweet wife is battling MS in a nursing home for almost six years now. What I wouldnt give to have even one year back just to be with her. I read your comment and wanted you to know I am thinking of you and your sweet memories of your wife and how freddie and Queen can reach across the ages and comfort us. All the best.

My wife was diagnosed with Breast Cancer on 13th August, 2019. We thought she was on the mend but passed away on 31st July, just a couple of weeks ago. Just one year of love.......it flew by in a blur. We were together for 25 years, she was just 53. I have 2 kids, no answers and my heart gets heavier by the day......she was beautiful.

This world has known many legends: Elvis, Michael, Bowie and the list goes on. But Freddie was by far the best. He was the greatest of all time and had a great sence of humor. The day Freddie died, a big part of music died and it would never be the same. Freddie forever.

When John decided he wanted the saxophone part instead of having Brian play the guitar, Brian was pretty upset about it. Later, John said, whenever he writes a song, he always thinks about Freddie’s voice first, then next was what kind of instrumental parts should be used. John knew for this song, the saxophone sound would go much better than the guitar sound, and he was absolutely right. What a song. What a voice. Just beautiful! 🎶💯🎷✨🎤🎵

My subjective list of the most underrated Queen's songs: - Scandal - Was It All Worth It? - Ride The Wild Wind - One Year of Love - Las Palabras de Amor - Teo Torriatte For me Bohemian is the most overrated song. I still can't understand why people since 1975 have found it as great hit. It's so similar to "The Prophet's Song".

I don't understand why this is not one of the more popular songs of theirs. It's just so moving and soulful...it's a work of art, this song. From the lyrics to the music...simply sigh-worthy. And while It's a point of fact - and common-knowledge - that Freddie's voice is, in and of itself, a magnificent phenomenon, the sheer emotion and angst with which he pines makes his performance glorious! It's truly one of my favorite songs of all time!

The problem with Queen is that they are so good - they actually outshine themselves. Their impressive list of greatest hits is so dominant that all their other excellent but lesser known songs stay in the background, never discovered by most people. Their are so many Queen songs as good as this one who aren't so popular either.
@victorcook4530
@victorcook4530 2 жыл бұрын
One of my top Queen songs... his soul just aches hard in this one and he drags you along for the ride. I think the only reason this was not a hit was they didn't have Brian May doing anything, so they probably didn't bother promoting it. It was on their "Classic Queen" album though which was nice that they did pay it the proper respect on that collection.

John Deacon’s contribution to Queen as a song-writer is under-recognised. Whilst his bass playing on all their tracks is consistently exceptional and also under-recognised, that’s pretty par for the course for bass players. But his songs are right out there and I think this is my favourite for how much it pushed Freddie to be as exceptional as he could be. His songs took Queen to new audiences without losing their core - Break Free in South America; Bites the Dust in the USA and so on. John Deacon was an absolutely essential part of Queen and their success was driven by him too. This is an absolutely beautiful song - beautifully sung.

"One Year of Love" is a song by Deacon. The album version features him playing Yamaha DX7 synth, a string orchestra conducted by Lynton Naiff and a saxophone played by Steve Gregory. Deacon decided to substitute the guitar components with a saxophone solo after a discussion with May, who does not appear in the song. It was released as a single in France and Spain only, and appeared during the bar scene in Highlander. It was also covered by Elaine Paige in 1986 and later by Dutch singer Stevie Ann in 2006.

I love how, for the most part, John Deacon's work is pretty much always the soft, sweet love letter music, like One Year of Love, You're My Best Friend, Need Your Loving Tonight, and all this other really heartfelt, romantic music. Like, even just looking at a list of the titles of his songs, you get the sense that he's this quiet, sensitive soul who likes to write love songs, and it's likes yes so pure so good I love It's hard to believe he also wrote Another One Bites the Dust.

Just now discovering your comment and I totally agree with you. Freddie was the only member who constantly encouraged John to write songs. John didn’t mind Freddie’s assistance in any way with his songs. Their brotherhood relationship meant so much to John. We absolutely understand and respect John’s decision when he retired from Queen and the entire music industry in 1997. He is the man with integrity and loyalty. John once said, “No Freddie, No Queen” Love and miss them both so much!! No Freddie, No John = No Queen. 🌠💫

Now both of our mates are deceased.. but it's too late now. I saw a recent picture of him and of course he's 74 years old but somehow their personality is intact I'm sure if I saw him I would still see a seventeen-year-old boy and still be in love. I describe our relationship like being in the tunnel of love and never getting off to find out if we will continue on in the relationship or break up.

There is a little twisted the story I thought you might want to know.. my Italian boyfriend moved from Pittsburgh PA to California when he was 16 I was 14. I was born and raised in California. The last time I saw him I ran into him by accident I was 19 and we went out on a date that night. Right after that I moved to the East Coast with my brother and I ended up in Philadelphia 300 miles from his hometown. I married an Italian from South Philly that had the very same mannerisms that Anthony had.. I've been here fifty years now.. and throughout the years I was surrounded by Anthony's culture and also the man I married had similar background.. so you see I could never escape him.
