@@MCCIOARA I have a Quest 1, Quest 2, Quest 3, and a HP Reverb G2. I haven't tried a Quest 3S, but I'm assuming it would look very similar to the Quest 2 as it has the same optical stack. It may look slightly better as it's more power processor would allow you to run higher bit rates and utilize the snapdragon super sampling in Virtual Desktop (I don't remember if that's available on a Quest 2), but it's still using Fresnel lenses and running at a lower resolution. Let me put it this way. I was using the Reverb G2 for sims because it was an upgrade over the Quest 2 visually, and when I got the Quest 3 I retired the G2 and now use the Quest 3 for both wireless and wired PCVR. The Quest 3S is more or less the love child of the Quest 2 and the Quest 3. It's got the Quest 3's processor and MR capabilities, but it's saddled with the Quest 2's optics and form factor. It also doesn't have an audio jack for external headphones. That's why I say if you're new to VR, get a 3s, you'll love it. But if you're upgrading, the Quest 3 will make much more of a difference.

So if you want a sharp and a more emmersive experience and you have the money, the quest 3 does have 4k resolution and bigger FOV with pancake lenses that are better if you dont mind the cost. However the quest 3s is amazing value for 300 bucks but has a worse resolution with worse lenses and a smaller fov. The 3s does lack a depth sensor which may not affect pcvr that much but its good to know. The quest 3s lasts a bit longer because of the resolution being lower even tho it does have a smaller battery than the original quest 3. So if you want a better visual gaming experience, go with the quest 3. If you dont want to spend much OR you dont mind the quality downgrade, the quest 3s is a good option.

a detail that's often missed with the fresnel lenses is that those fresnel lenses and that single LCD panel on the Q3s means you will have a smaller FOV. its about the same as the Q2. the regular Q3 has a larger FOV, which is awesome, not just because of the lenses, but also because of the dual displays.

Recommended games for people new to vr Red matter, bone lab, duck season, bone works, job simulator, Richie’s plank experience, I expected you to d1e, and half life alyx are all good coming from a pcvr and standalone user with over 1500+ hours of vr experience on quest 1 and 2 Edit Half life alyx, boneworks, bonelab, etc are games that could potentially cause motion sickness to new players so I would recommend seeing how motion sickness you get before buying them

Those are all great games, but I wouldn't recommend HLA or Boneworks/Bonelab for somebody new to VR, too likely to cause motion sickness. Better to get started with games like Beat Saber, Synth Riders, Eleven Table Tennis, Golf+, Walkabout, Premium Bowling, Space Pirate Trainer, etc. The other games you mentioned are good starter games too, but I'd recommend starting with games that don't require much movement to start and work up to things like HLA and Boneworks

@@smzman2013 I would recommend either the quest 3s or the quest 3 because they are really good for their price and have access to both steam and meta games while the psvr 2 only has access to the psvr library and steam if you buy the pc connecter attachment (but I don’t think it has released yet). And the quest headsets don’t have cords which is a big plus because playing with a cord is a nightmare

I have a Quest 3 for many months now. There will most definitely be Black Friday and Xmas deals for the Quest 3, possibly Quest 3S. Don’t take my word for it though. Overall wouldn’t hurt to wait a little just in case you snag yourself an amazing deal 🤷‍♂️. As for audio, I know the Quest 3 can connect to bluetooth earbuds (Eg, Airpods, Any other earbuds) and I am positive that the 3S would have the same capability. Would be weird if not 😂 So yes you can watch your favorite movies/ videos without bothering anyone 😊 There are many sources on how to connect bluetooth earbuds to the Quest 3/ 3S on google. This is huge!! Its confirmed that Quest 3S has better sensors than Quest 3 for hand tracking in complete darkness while the original quest 3 can´t do it and you receive constant "loww light" warnings. Meaning that in low light or even complete darkness conditions Quest 3S has a huge advantage over the original Quest 3.

@@Anthony-Soprano Try using the glasses spacer even if you dont use glasses just in case it helps, adjust the headstrap top end firmly, clean the lenses regularly with a fiber cloth, buy prescription lenses. I use the passthrough most of the time, so if you are placed on a darker environment i advise you to push the virtual screens closer to you to get better crisper image quality meaning less size for better image. If you want to use big giant virtual screens i would advise you to use a brighter room or outside your house. Try going to different places on your house and see whap place is adequate for the type of use you are seeking, the more brighter you get the better it is. Hope it helps.

if you don't care about the quest 3 being used, then by all means by the quest 3 used/ refurbished if you are new to vr or want a new headset, go with the 3s the main differences between the 2 are that the 3 has higher quality graphics due to the pancake lenses, but a 3s will be good if you're beginning vr

3S and 3 have the same hardware, so they should run the same. The main difference is the lenses and resolution are more like Quest 2. If it's your first headset, it should still be quite good, especially for the price. In theory, the PCVR streaming should work well with 3S as well as long as you have a decent, ideally dedicated, router. Quest 3 was stated to be the best wireless PCVR by the creator of Virtual Desktop thus far. If you are on a budget, I see many recommend Quest 3 already for sole PCVR users too, so it sounds like this would be a great price to try if you already have a gaming PC. You can use USB-C as well for Quest Link.

i suggest doing it over wifi with virtual desktop thats 20 bucks. Airlink is free but its just worse over all, also if you want to get a link cable you can get that for 20 bucks. I suggest just get virtual desktop if you are going to pay for it connecting to your computer.

The controllers last quite a long time actually. I recommend enaloop recharcheable batteries if you use them a lot. You only need one AA battery in each one.

You don't need a battery band (and there are options both better and cheaper from other manufacturers, such as bobovr) and the prescription inserts from Zenni are fairly cheap. Should be able to fit glasses with the headset too

Stop buying Fresnel headsets. They are completely out of date and put unnecessary strain on your eyes. Please think about your health and if you care about money then buy second hand Pancake Quest 3 but please don't use this outdated technology anymore - you will thank me for it. You shouldn't even consider something like this for your children. Their eyes are developing there, the Fresnel technology is so poor in clarity that they are a clear strain on the eyes and development. As a VR enthusiast, I tell you this from the heart. Somewhat stuck, because I had originally planned to get a Quest 3. I cant decide still, I have a quest two from day one, that I use for pcvr it's still holding up great I guess with some things being broken. I want to upgrade but not sure whether I should get the q3 or q3s. I was holding off on getting a Quest 3 cause thought it would be a waste of standalone features cause ill barely use them in pcvr but now hearing about the q3s at $300 coming. Then being disappointed by the quality being traded for the price. The Quest 3S will look pretty much like a Quest 2 for PCVR. There are probably a couple of tricks Virtual Desktop does that might make it a little better, but overall you won't see much difference as the optics are the same as the Quest 2. The Quest 3 is a significant upgrade for PCVR, the pancake lenses and hire resolution make a huge difference. If you don't care about stand alone, I'd recommend saving a little more and just get the 128 gig Quest 3.

@@Immense777 I’m was having the same dilemma (I also play pcvr on my quest 2) but I do NOT have the money for the deckard and I played on my friends quest 3 ONCE and it was the best vr gaming experience I have ever had so I know that I’m gonna be buying the quest 3s because you can change its resolution to about 3800x3800 with sidequest from your pc so the resolution doesn’t matter and it’s a no brainer to choose the quest 3s over the quest 3 and upgrade from the 2

I think in that case the quest 3 might be your best because the new lenses and higher screen quality do make a big difference when playing pcvr while the 3s will give you the same experience that you have already. Let me know what you decided in the end

I'd say it's great for that. You can make a huge screen, lie back and place it wherever you want in your space, whatever you want. At this price point, I'd say it's worth it for media viewing. The battery reportedly lasts a little longer for 3S than 3 apparently despite being smaller. For media viewing it lasts longer than running games. There are also lots of sitting VR games as well. I recommend I Expect You To Die. It's like a Spy Puzzle game. You can also open various browser and other app windows and place them around you in your physical space. Or even do some work with a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse.

Tetris effect is amazing and only requires 2 hands. KZbin VR is a fun gimmick. Moss is adorable and just needs hand inputs. VR chat is free and only needs hands. Big screen alone is almost worth it. I loved Saints and sinners and I’ve heard it works pretty good sitting down (though it requires full arm motions and could be hard depending on the sitting situation). Demeo is great and you only sit down in that game.

@@maximus070-rr you forgot about how it’s 1. A huge upgrade from mine and others quest 1 and 2 2. It has color pass though which opens a huge door to games to quest 1 and 2 users (like me) 3. It’s far slimmer than the quest 1 and 2 which will reduce neck strain 4. It’s far lighter than the quest 1 and 2 which will also reduce neck strain 5. The head strap is better than the quest 1 and 2 which will once again reduce neck strain 6. It will have access to the quest 3 library for a cheaper price 7. It will have quest 3 controllers 8. All of this and more for a price of 300 dollars So overall, you likely don’t have much understanding of vr or the quest 3s so should make sure to do your research before you speak and trash on products that people can and will buy because they are great AND they didn’t change the screen from the quest 2 to 3s so half of your comment is already wrong proving how you just felt the need to open your mouth and trash on things And this all makes sense because all you play is rec room
