For metal I always go for the X because it's most transparent and punchy. For more classic rock/blues, the original has some vibe that I like as well

I'm glad I found this, cause I have an Orange Rockerverb MKii 100, and I've been trying to find a boost for it and have narrowed it down to these two. Which do you think boosts the high mids more? I low the low mids of the Rockerverb, but I would also like the potential to boost the highs to help it cut through the mix in certain situations, so do you think the 808X is the way to go? I play everything from heavy stoner rock, doom metal, to other types of metal. If you can think of another boost that has more highs, I'm open to any suggestions.

Sorry for the slow reply! I have both boosts and usually use the od808x because it’s a little more transparent and powerful. Ive tried a lot of other boosts but these two remain my favorite. The Revv tilt boost is really cool if you want to shape low end or high end, but it has less of a mid push. Good luck!!

For my orange thunderverb, I boost with a ts9 and an lichtlaerm aesahaettr. They both slay. Im picking up an 808x just for variety. But check out the lichtlaerm aesahaettr. MASSIVE 35+ db boost with a cut knob, then use the ts9 as a tone/drive.
