For those who live and drive in environments where curves are more than occasional and mountains actually exist and for those whose conception of "performance" means more than 0-60 and quarter mile times, the Ecoboost with the performance pack is very appealing. No doubt that the Mustang GT will get to the next stop light quicker but some of my favorite roads form a 100 mile loop around Mt. Rainier in Washington State. And I'm willing to bet that a driver in the Ecoboost will be having a third cup of coffee when a GT with the equivalent of an NFL linebacker sitting on the hood finishes the loop.
@M4B21S885 жыл бұрын
I wouldnt necessarily say the GT will get to the next stop light faster, especially a pre '18 GT against an HPP. MANY things can affect acceleration (traction being one of them). Personally, when I do a quick traffic light race, I stop at 60-75 mph. Now, if your racing involves approaching the triple digits PLUS, then yes, the GT will be the winner, hands down. But how OFTEN can one safely race to those higher speeds? you risk jail time, license revoked, car impounded....

Not for $37K...not with cloth seats and no LCD cluster. Also...definitely...not brand new...I waited and got an 18 eco with the performance package fully loaded with the exception of magnaride for well under 30K with only 5k miles. Added the Ford performance tune and i'm happy for the moment. I love it. And like some of mentioned, i'd rather have 4 less cylinders with all of the creator features, than a base GT with cloth seats and no options just to say "I have a GT". And as a daily street car in a fairly small city...I have no need for damn near 500HP. Once I pro tune mine, if I can hit 375-390HP to the wheels, i'll be perfectly happy. I've driven both. I love both. I love mustangs. I love my eco. When i'm in a position to buy a "fun car" that I only drive a few times a week to have fun in, i'll track down a used loaded up GT. Until then...again...i'm perfectly fine being the red headed step child of the mustang family.

It'll get better once the Bullit is gone, but right now, it's not going to hold its value. The problem is, the prices on a 2017 Ecoboost are already under $20K. Depreciation is hard on them and special packages hardly make a difference - maybe half your initial money back on them. The first three years will see it probably drop to $25K. Doubly so if it's automatic, since rental fleet sales will swamp the market, dragging it down further. Cars are a money pit. The reason you buy a V8 (or a Bullit!) , IMO, is because you can keep it for 10-20 years and get your money's worth out of it. What car do you have now
@matttakahashi82835 жыл бұрын
For the simple minded you COULD get a GT for the price but then you end up gasing up the GT 2-3 times a week. This is a reason I would consider getting an EB decent HP and not having to gas up so frequently.

37,400.....even if you take the handling package off its 35,400 That's just asinine. Might as well get a GT. That's just too much for what it is, and the demographic is very specific like you said. I honestly wonder how much of these ford will sell.

Either Ford was dumb by releasing this car at the same time as the new GT500 meaning it will be completely overshadowed, or Ford is a genius and knows people might see this as an alternative that they might be able to afford.

You do realize that when the EB mustang came out in 2015, those with PP and premium trim were going for mid 30k's , right? Its only a big deal to GT owners NOW because Ford is advertising the HPP as a total improvement over the now base EB.. LOL I just read my "its only a big deal to GT owners" line again. Isn't it funny? GT owners coming to EB HPP videos to let us know how they dont agree with spending that kind of money. Kinda sad actually. Since the 2018+ mustangs, there are so many goodies that can now be added to the mustangs. It makes an s197 look like a 90's interior car, with mediocre handling. If youre gonna compare the price of a FULLY loaded EB HPP, do so with that of a 2020 fully loaded mustang GT. Ive seen the HPP with handling package and manual tranny going for 32k, and with the 10A going for 34k dealer prices, here in central FL.

Idk why he's talking about it being a niche or a demographic thing. I guarantee you my Need for Green mustang turns more heads than a Focus RS does and has a far better interior. Not everything is about performance and trying to squeeze every tenth of a second in 0-60. We buy the HPP ecoboost instead of the RS cause it looks better, it feels better being in a coupe sports car, we like to do burnouts, and has a better interior quite frankly. All of those are simple reasons

Do I think the Ecoboost is worth the price tag? In a word, no. I have a V6 and put up with the sound. An Ecoboost is as annoying and it makes me cringe listening to it. I'd rather have a base GT than an Ecoboost. The Ecoboost has its good points mainly that it's easy to mod. Highly modded Ecoboosts can have problems with durability and that car isn't for me. I would prefer a 2.7 or a 3.5 Ecoboost V6 over the 4 cylinder. Even then, I don't think I would want it.

Nobody buys a car brand new MSRP unless you are just an overall dumb person. You can buy a SLIGHTLY used one with 10k miles on it which is basically new, let someone else eat the depreciation, and get it for 30k fully loaded every option. Greatest bang for your buck of any car

Honestly, I would've rather if Ford had discontinue the Mustang then offer it in a four cylinder. I know with environmental regulations cracking down on these large V8's there is a need to downsize, but to maintain the reputation and the prestige of these cars, just let these cars die in peace.

UNPOPULAR OPINION, the v8 will definitely be gone at some point, look at Mercedes, Audi, and BMW. Downsizing with substantially more power.

I agree 100%, I drive an Ecoboost mainly because I got a killer deal on it working at Ford. At this price point, why would you get this over the GT. It's cool don't get me wrong, but not for this price point.
@Tjtjboy5 жыл бұрын
Because of the better gas mileage. The four cylinder engine is lighter than a V8 so that should give it better handling. And this car has more torque and horsepower than a stock 2010 Mustang GT. So it beats that 2010 in every categoy except it won't have that V8 sound.
