I love m. Graham and plan on getting more! I have the quin rust, rose and gold from this video and they are three if my favourite paints! The nickel quin Azo gold type can be mixed with Pthalo green (middle) Pg7 or a mix of yellow shade and blue shade to make the most perfect plant base/mother plant greens! More gold or more green then add other paints to make unique plant mixes! One of my favourite custom mixes. I heard rumour po 48 may also become discontinued soon as well but I don’t know for sure.

Yes, it seems PO48 might be discontinued! What a shame! I also like to mix my Quin Gold for wonderful greens or oranges….I really share your enthusiasm for these colours! Thanks for commenting 😄😄Elisabetta

I have this set and have come to love it. The pigments are very strong and staining. I can really see the difference in your Quin Red and Quin Rose. In my set they are very similar. My Quin Violet stays wet in my palette so I would not recommend it in a travel palette. My favorite color in this set is the Nickel Quin Gold. Cheers! :)

Hi Morrison! I find this set a delight for the eyes. However, I haven’t tried yet to pour these colours in a pan, but I’m pretty sure they will stay sticky…I plan to do it in a studio palette though after your comment, not for travelling 😃. I see why you love quin gold! A favourite of mine as well! Thanks a lot for your comment! Have a great weekend! Elisabetta

I have two sets of m graham watercolors and some of the tubes have this weird texture (not granulating).To eliminate this problem to some extent, I use distilled water for mixing the color and I mix it very very very well with a synthetic brush on a ceramic palette before put on the paper and the difference is huge, the color became smooth and vibrant.I hope this would be helpful .
@WatercolorElisabetta2 жыл бұрын
I didn’t know this trick! I get plenty of distilled water from my tumble dryer…it’s sure that honey based product are wonderfully soft but might have texture issues…I have experienced the same with Sennelier, a sort of gummy texture. Thanks a lot for your advice and have a great weekend!

I only tried Payne's Grey but it's a lovely one to have in a collection but M. Graham is more expensive and hard to find in Europe too. I'm sad PR206 will longer be available...

Yes I agree it’s very expensive! But some tubes are still nice to have…I will soon try to publish a video about PR 206…I’m also troubled by all these beautiful pigments disappearing…thank you a lot Christine for sharing your experience here! Have a lovely Sunday. 😊

Hi everyone! I thought I should let you know that PR206 and PO48 have been discontinued recently. W&N replaced PR206 Madder Brown with a version of PR179 (a version that I do not like). I think some tubes are mislabeled PR206. I saw a video where the artist swatched a W&N PR206 but it looked a lot like the PR179; it lacked the softness of PR206. To my knowledge, Roman Szmal, Jackson’s watercolours, Michael Harding and Daniel Smith still have PR206. Roman Szmal, Rembrandt, M Graham and Daniel Smith still have PO48.

Very important piece of information....I have a good stock of both, but if you like these colours it's better to hurry up! I have a giant 37ml tube of PR206 by Winsor & Newton, I hope it's not mislabeled....thank you very much! take care Elisabetta
@awatercolourist2 жыл бұрын
@@WatercolorElisabetta Welcome! They are beautiful, earthy paints and have many uses, so I thought I should warn people that it is only a matter of time before they are gone. Regarding your 37ml tube, just swatch it. If it is a coral-brown colour (like any PR206) then it is PR206; but if it is a earthy blood-red colour then it is PR179.

I was surprised by my Daniel Smith Quin Rose. I was expexting it to be similar to W&N Permanent Rose, but Daniel Smith was kind of granulating. Who knows, maybe I got a bad batch or a fake one. But the quin coral I got from a reliable source and also granulated. Anyway they are still beautiful. I also recently got a W&N burnt sienna PR101 and I can't find the difference in hue with my Daniel Smith Quin. Burnt Orange. Do you find PO49 to be similar to PR101 transparent burnt sienna?
@WatercolorElisabetta2 жыл бұрын
Dear Paulina, I find that my Rembrandt PO49 (the one that I regularly use) is definitely an Orange, but today I was surprised by the brownish accents in Quin Rust! To answer properly, I should swatch them side by side but yes, I have some orangey Burnt Siennas made with PR101, which make them kind of similar! I will soon make a video about Quin specific colors and I will look into granulation! Quin Colors shouldn’t granulate in principles, but I have also noticed a slight granulation in the past! Thanks a lot for your comment and have a lovely weekend 😊
@awatercolourist2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Elizabetta! Try mixing PO48 with its compliment. The compliment of PO48 is different to the compliment of PR101/PR102.

I only have pv19, pv122, pr209, pv55 and pr206 in my pallet. Pr206 is Windsor Newton's Permanent Alizarine Crimson. I'ts a beautiful colour and I'm sad, that the pigment is discontinued. Pv55 is my favorite Violet hue. It is both bright and lightfast and gives beautiful mixchures. I've never seen pr207 though.
