This is quite a solid, comprehensive overview of a significant though now somewhat obscure player in Roman history. I would like to add that Cicero's dear and immensely wealthy friend Atticus would be another example of a Roman eques who secured recognition by posterity despite never holding any political office or attaining senatorial rank.

Looooooooooooove your work with all my heart. The perfect trifecta of detail, sarcasm, and entertainment. Peak "learning is fun" More than others I leave your playlists satiated on a topic (a rare thing, I truely kick horses to death before moving on) I am but an impoverished pleb now but I owe you many a donation to come when fate is a little kinder. Please do continue your fantastic work

Very interesting. There is a typo in the Potential Assassin slide. Dolabella was not assassinated by Dolabella.

I'm so glad I watched this episode of "Romans of Renown." Clearly, Quintus Dellius was one of the most interesting Romans given a salute by Thersites the Historian in this series. ⚔️

Get the feeling this guy could read anyone in a room and always knew/did just enough to prove utility, making his horse jumps at moments where he had some crucial insider knowledge that no one else could exploit. I like to imagine that Octavian was impressed by this guy's ability to stay alive. And that he laid on the flattery to his new master to guarentee favor.

Is it possible that he was charming enough and at the same time insignificant enough to always escape execution? But not necessarily the be most charming roman of the second triumvirate?

It's always interesting to hear about other Romans during the great civil wars of 40 and 30s BC and what they did other than the big names involved even if their role was really minor.

It seems like Delius and Antony were "Close Friends". I mean it is also rumored that Antonius and Cesar had a sexual relationship. The sexual relationship may have been the reason why Antony gave Delius such important tasks as Envoy to Kings but also such sexual tasks like finding women. Cleopatra being jelous of delius would also make more sense this way.

I wonder if equestrians had a slightly different set of values than patricians, allowing themselves to follow the actions taken by Dellius. I mean, as upper middle class/lower upper class, if their behavior to things and issues was not more fluid Edit: typo

Dellius. Pimp and procurer. For a shifty non- senator and a man who never held any high position he's done pretty well to be remembered throughout history. Remembered at least buy those who have an interest in the history of Rome.🎉
