OP in the necklace story is NTA. When my mom died, we had to go through her stuff. My cousin, with my aunt's backing, said she wanted a bunch of stuff (including her first wedding ring set!). I got upset and firmly said no, as did my sister. Cousin then went and told my dad that mom said it was for her (she didn't, my parents agreed it would be mine or my sister's), my dad lost his shit about her demanding. They did get their jewelry back that was given to mom as gifts. Some people can be so selfish, especially when it comes to stuff after a person's passing.

My mother's aunt asked all her nieces and nephews (she didn't have any kids) to go through her house and pick one item they wanted and put their name on it. My great-aunt was diagnosed with a major disease in her early 60s (was told she had about 1-3 years to live). She didn't die until almost 25 years later. My great-aunt lived in her house until she died because one of her great-nieces lived in her house as her caretaker. This great-niece went to great trouble to making sure that everyone got their sentimental item. My mom had selected a music box which played the aunt's favorite song.

I once worked with a very kind and intelligent boss - but he'd get so caught up in work that he would forget to eat lunch, forget when it was time to go home... that kind of thing. His actual wife (who I had met at a couple of company functions), was just as kind and intelligent as him, and contacted me privately when I started full time (was brought in as a temp originally) and said that she *hoped* I would consider myself his "work wife" - make sure he ate a proper lunch and didn't overwork himself. I was a bit startled and laughed, but went along with it and did as she requested. She told me to be a bit of a nag if I had to. :-) It worked out great for all of us. Not only did I make sure he had healthy lunches, but I convinced him to go first walking and then running with me for a half hour during lunch breaks. Her fears for his health were eased and he actually was in better shape after I started watching out for him - weight and blood pressure down, and more willing to do things with her and their family on weekends. It also meant that he would be less tired and frustrated at work, so it made my job a little easier as well. It's not always a negative, and it doesn't always make the wife insecure, nor does it mean there is anything going on other than a beneficial arrangement for all.

I think Markee chooses comments that won't piss off Animal lovers. I have no doubt that there were comments pointing out how ridiculous it is for a landlord who bases rent on No Pets and the associated property damage that some people's pets cause only to have the tennant ignore that and just get a pet anyway. I guess we are all supposed to pretend that pets never destroy carpets or that all tennants actually end up voluntarily paying when their pet does destroy a carpet or any of the other myriad of things that a poorly trained pet can end up destroying. I actually rented a room when I was young and the landlord let their dog poop in the basement and they would not even clean it weekly. They were shocked when I left. Some people should not own pets.

Yes, this! ! Cats are obligate carnivores, which means they must eat meat in order to live. If you cannot stand the thought of anyone or anything eating meat, then DON'T GET A CAT!: The following is from the Feline Nutrition Foundation and explains why cats must eat meat. Obligate carnivores, such as dolphins, seals, amphibians, snakes, crocodilians, mink, salmon, rainbow trout, hawks, eagles and others must eat meat to survive. All of these animals became obligate carnivores as a result of their ancestral diets. Because eating a meat-only diet provides some vitamins and fatty acids in their pre-formed state, cats and many other obligate carnivores have lost the ability to make these amino acids and vitamins in their own bodies the way herbivores or omnivores do. They don't need to since the animals they are eating have already done it for them. For example, cats require vitamin A in its pre-formed state, but can't make it from beta-carotene the way humans or dogs or rabbits can. They have little ability to form niacin from tryptophan. They have a high requirement for taurine, which is found almost exclusively in animal flesh. Arginine, also found in animal flesh, is so critical to the cat that a meal without it can lead to death. Fortunately, all meat sources have plenty. Simply put, cats must eat meat to live.

How come all of the comments about the wedding sisters ignore how much a date change would impact other guests not from the father’s side? They act as though the father’s family were the only people involved. Was the father offering to pay for all of the guests non-refundable expenses as well? If they had booked time off work, hotels, travel expenses and clothes then suddenly have to cancel or move they could all lose money too, quite a lot if they’ve booked flights etc or potentially not be able to go. Why should the OP and all of the other guests, those from her mother’s side, friends, her husbands family etc be inconvenienced because her sister tried to manipulate the situation? Keeping the day was much fairer to the rest of the guests. The only people negatively affected were those linked to the sister. I have to say if I was one of those family members that had already agreed to a save the date I wouldn’t have been going to the second wedding at all. Giving in because they feel sorry because she grew up in 2 houses is a crappy excuse for allowing awful behaviour. My daughter has an almost 50/50 time split but I still expect her to be polite and well behaved. I would never expect her to be treated better than her half siblings at all.

Other family members/cousins made it to a bigger deal than it felt to me. Jeesh, the necklace thing. My grandma and me we’re really close and she passed away when i was 11. She promised me a lot of things like her makeup that she always uses on me when we had makeovers and a necklace she had specifically bought for me. Both of my aunts stole them when she died by confusing an 11 year old with shiny new things and I didn’t realize what was going on. Now I know what happend and I cry everytime thinking about my makeovers with my grandma and stuff. Luckily I do have some things of her that the rest of my family didn’t like, like her soap collection ( i collect soap too and didn’t realize she did untill she died ). It feels awfull when your family knows you were supposed to have it but just steels it

I am wondering if the soon to be "mother" will give up on the baby... Will the dad (the one doing all the work) hug his kid, go to work thinking everything is good, he comes home and finds out the "mother" rehomed (put up for adoption, and yes a mother CAN do this legally) their child, all because she "Can't handle it".

For the first story: the saying "What am _I_ , _chopped liver_ ?" comes to mind. For the 'Greece Story': that would be like making someone _think_ that they're going to 'Paris France' ,but _instead_ they're going to 'Paris Texas' . 'For the Ice Cream story': The camera was set up in the _kitchen_ and _not_ in a bathroom or bedroom; so I can't see _how_ it is creepy or perverted, and if 'OP' had announced the camera being there then the culprit would be on their _best_ behavior. 'For the Cold Coffee story' That would be like getting grossed out by soggy cereal, and telling somebody else to _not_ eat it even when that person does _not_ mind eating it all.

I worked until I was 8 1/2 months pregnant. My doctor said it was fine and actually healthy to stay active while pregnant as long as you don't have underling problems. My job had a lot of walking which in the end made my birth only five hours long no epidural. Stay active if you can while pregnant it's good for you and the baby and helps the birth for most. Sorry if you can't because of health issues, you should always do what's best you and the baby. Most doctors can assess your health and let you know what kind of exercise you should do or not do during your pregnancy.

As someone with schizophrenia, is scary to think that some people would go out of their way to do something like that. 😞 I am open to most people im in contact with about mine but that's because I don't want it to just be out of nowhere if I have an episode around them and I like to ask people if things are real sometimes since it's hard for me to judge. Seriously, don't play pranks like that on people, especially people with psychotic illnesses since it's hard enough already to know if things are real for us sometimes. 😢

I am so happy that I found these comments I was thinking the same thing and it was irritating me so much how everyone thinks she should have changed her day to "keep the peace". The father is the one who told the half sister about the date so that was his fault telling her. So knowing he was in the wrong why would he be offering money to move the wedding of the daughter who had the day first? Obviously the half sister is spoiled and all about the money I am pretty sure if he offered to pay her expenses for another day how would she not take that opportunity to pay nothing. She was able to guilt the grandparents into paying half the cost and him for down payment on the house I agree with you the other comment that he should have offered it to the other daughter and gave her that ultimatum for once he could show some kind of mutual love and respect for his other child, it's him giving in to the other daughter all the time that made her turn out the way she is.

Children aren't entitled to a financial inheritance; I'm not expecting anything when my parents pass, I'm assuming they'll spend it all on enjoying their Autumn years, & that's cool by me. She made a mistake, at most ESH, yes a dog is 10-20 year commitment and she was rash in going ahead and getting one, using the "my husband will fall in love when he sees it" routine so she didn't have to discuss it with him, Pregnant hormones or not, that is irresponsible. But OP trying to force his wife to keep the dog is going too far, now he's being a hypocrite when she got a dog he didn't want, he wants to keep a dog she doesn't want. Best thing to do in this case is suck it up, rehome the puppy, and discuss boundaries with the wife. Let her know this was not alright and to not do this again in the future, because growing emotionally attached to a puppy and having to immediately give it up is not easy.

@@eph2vv89only1way It's a living animal, and she was not emotionally mature enough to handle the responsibility. Forcing her to do so while also taking care of an infant just because the husband is now attached to the puppy is not a realistic solution. This is exactly why the option of rehoming pets exists, sometimes someone is not able to handle that responsibility. Like I said, she is not absolved of guilt, she sucks because she took on the responsibility when she was not mature or capable enough to handle it, but Op sucks for trying to force her to accept that it's his way or nothing. Anyway, that's just my opinion, and you are free to disagree. I am not saying my way is right, just that is how I view it. ESH IMO.

Dark Mask the fact that the dog is a living being with feelings is exactly why she needs to live up to her responsibility and commitment she made to the dog. The dog has also bonded with the husband. LMBO!!!! The work wife/husband one... OMG! I don't know how anyone wouldn't realize that could be a sore spot for a partner. I ended up with a few people claiming me as their work wife but it wasn't my male coworkers who did it. Their wives claimed me as their own work wife and we eventually started referring to each other's children as ours, as in, "How are our kiddos doing in school?, How'd the ob appointment go, our baby and my wife check out good?, When are you going to pop out baby out already?", and of course when we did have our babies we'd bring them along to visit as soon as we safely could so the other could meet them. There was nothing romantic at all and we just had fun with it cause we had heard of the work wife/husband trend and some of the husbands had mentioned work wives. Welll....the wives liked me as a really good friend and knew they could trust me so the wives decided to make me (their hubby's coworker) their work wife and then told their husbands to deal and some would even offer to share me with the hubby as a work wife but I was the only work wife they would tolerate their husband having. The husbands were always shocked when their wives initially did that. It was freaking hilarious! Plus they kinda started to get the idea of why their wives were having a problem with the work wife title. As long as their wives were in on the joke all was good but having a work wife the real wife didn't know or felt they couldn't trust caused problems in their marriage. Even though I no longer work with any of them I'm still claimed as the work wife and we still ask about our children when we see each other.

After a while, she began occasionally private-messaging me telling me that she didn't like a certain person I was friends with. Being as she was another female, I got dense and would simply answer, "I like them. You don't have to accept a friend request from them." Then after a simple medical disagreement, she suddenly showed herself for the stalker she was. (Too long to give all the details, but I did manage to protect myself after the blow-up). Women CAN stalk other women, even if there is nothing sexual about it.

When my son was 6 years old, he wanted a GI Joe for Christmas. My mother in law said not to get him one., that she would get it for him. I made sure she knew what a G I Joe was because she had a long history of screwing things like that up. Come Christmas and he opened the gift from her. It was a cheap knockoff that even a six year old could tell the difference. The look of disappointment on his face was awful, but he did not complain, just thanked his grandmother for the gift. My husband said quietly, Mom, that is not a G I Joe. She just shrugged and said that it was just as good and she was not going to pay that much for a toy solider. Every time my son tried to play with the toy, the arms fell off because they were the kind that were just stuck in a hole in the body. After Christmas it went in his toy box never to be played with again. My son’s birthday was in January and he got a G I Joe and tons of accessories. Building up a child’s hopes for something he or she rally wants and then pulling something like those parents did, and then on top of it, treating it like a joke is cruel and disgusting. Whether the child is 6 or 16, there is no excuse. At least what my mother in law was not was not deliberate, just clueless.

As for the inheritance story, I gotta say NTA. The way that question is asked and the character of the person who asks is very important. She seems like she sounded like a spoiled brat and confirmed my assumption when she threw a tantrum about the answer. I have to admit that I asked this question to my dad back in my teens but I asked out of morbid curiosity and honestly didn't expect to be told I'd get anything because we (my dad, my brother and me) have always lived a missed check away from homelessness (and actual homelessness once when that missed check actually happened). I was really surprised by his answer because he said I'd get $250k due to a half a million dollar life insurance policy he got back in his early years in the military (my brother gets the other half). It honestly still seems unreal to me half because I don't think I can actually comprehend that amount of cash (I've spent most of my life struggling to keep a roof over my head and have been homeless more times and for far longer than I'd like to admit) and half because getting that money means losing the only person in my life that's always had my back. Now that I think about that last sentence, actually writing it out makes it seem more real somehow, I can't help but be even more disgusted by the behavior of that girl (I refuse to call her a woman because she isn't. A woman is mature but this is the behavior of a spoiled child, not a mature woman in her 30's). That money isn't free, it comes at the cost of a loved one.... It should be treated as exactly what it is, the final gift of someone who cares about you and someone you will never see again. Respect that or fuck right off...

The schizophrenic story is one of the most disgusting things I've heard of done by "friends" ever. Obviously they knew something was off with him mentally and they decide to push the envelope by making this guy think he was having a mental breakdown. Luckily, all that happened was he went to the hospital. But if he wasn't schizophrenic and was put on incorrect medication this could have severely damaged his life & health (the medication given to people with this illness is no joke). What if he decided to kill himself rather than face the fact that he was having a supposed mental breakdown (I knew someone who committed suicide rather than admit he needed psychological help)? He's lucky to find this out about this group of friends because they are sociopaths and he needs to stay far away from these people.

I would have given a full week to rehouse the cat, and if I come back and the cat is still present, I would give 30 days with a week of a second chance to remove the cat in case it took longer than expected to rehouse the animal. My rant bout Bethany who had one basal skin cancer removed My husband has had so many basal skin cancers removed that we have lost count. He does not go around saying he is a cancer survivor because no one dies of basal skin cancer. So there is no threat to her life. I think Bethany is doing it for sympathy she does not deserve. Especially since she is obviously hiding the type of cancer she has. She is lying by omission every time she posts on it like this. I have a cousin who has had one basal skin cancer and made a big effing deal of it like Bethany but at least my cousin admitted truthfully that it was basal skin cancer. I was enraged by what she did but have forgiven my cousin because she does dumb stuff and is not the brightest lightbulb around. Because my husband has had so many basal skin cancers removed right in the doctor's office, I know about these. I can even correctly identify basal cell growths when he has one between his skin check ups. Only one basal skin tumor required reconstructive Mohs surgery on his eye lids and tear duct. His life was never at risk. Not for one moment Meanwhile, other people I have known have had prostate cancer, multiple myeloma, leukemia, lung cancer, gliomatosis cerebri, breast cancer, ovarian cancer, kidney cancer, and metastatic melanoma cancer. Some survived but went through real hell. Some went through hell and died of their cancers. Bethany is basically lying for sympathy. When others who have been giving her sympathy find out that it was just basal skin cancer (basically, just a benign abnormal skin growth that has a 100% survival rate) with just removal in doctor's office, she is going to get the karma she deserves because others will become enraged about her making a mountain (implying she has a deadly form of cancer) out of a molehill (because basal skin cancer is not deadly at all). Bethany is a first class ahole.

My dad died from a rare systemic form of a rare lymphoma. He was in so much pain and the last 2 months before we got him to finally go get checked out were awful, he couldn't even keep water down and his job made him take medical leave because he was still trying to bust his ass at work but throwing up so often even they were concerned something terrible was happening. The first hospital we took him to failed him, told him oh it's just a virus, gave him freaking antibiotic for a fing virus ?!#@ , pain meds and anti nausea meds and sent him home without doing any blood work or further investigation into why he had not been able to hold anything down for 2 weeks at that point not even water. He got worse over the next week and we finally begged him to go to a diff hospital in a bigger town, a better hospital and he finally agreed. Sadly, it was too late, his bone marrow was full of cancer and it had destroyed all of his platelets and his platlet counts were just about nothing and his blood couldn't clot anymore. However, i put a large blame on the religion my parents were/ mom is still a part of because they don't allow blood products so no platlets. So the cancer, which probably would have taken him regardless since it is extremely rare and he had the most rare form which doctors all over the world in several countries were sent copies of his chart and the doctors tried so so hard to save him speaking with any physician, there weren't many, who had treated this cancer. Sadly he bled out of ecru pore and orifice over 2 days and I left the church afterwards. I overheard the doc and nurse talking about how if he would only be able to take the platelets they could buy more time to figure out how to save him as they by that point had a pretty good idea of what to do next but had to get his counts back up first. From the day we walked in that hospital to DX to him passing was only 5 days. It was awful though and I will never have sympathy for somebody like described in this story with a skin type that isn't life threatening. I've seen what life threatening looks like. We also watched as one of my best friend's mom fought and won breast cancer twice. Thankfully she is still with us. Also lost a great aunt, never was around smoke nor did she smoke cigarettes one day all her life and she got lung cancer and died. My hubby's dad won the battle against prostate cancer, survived a massive stroke then passed away from an infection he got after seeing the foot doctor who performed a procedure without proper disinfection and within hours he was fighting a massive infection. He passed only 8 months after my hubby's mom pissed from complications while on dialysis due to kidney failure, she never drank but suffered from diabetes and it caused her kidneys to fail she was in her early 70's though and dad in his early 80's but it did not make any of it any easier. We cared for them round the clock for the final 7 years they were alive even moving back into the farm house by hubby was raised in to be there 24/7 so they didn't need to be put in a home. While I would never take a min back and glad we were able to give them that it does add to my anger when ppl try to get sympathy over little things. Like seriously? You have no clue the amount of suffering people with deadly cancers go through weather they make it or not is awful. As are these other diseases that effect ppl. Sorry you go through that with your own sister and it's almost comical she would even try to pull that crap when she knows you and your hubby deal with that regularly...

I really hope your husband is doing much better now. You say it like that type of cancer is nothing, but you know in your heart that it's something you don't want him to go through and it's not easy. Best of luck to you both. Peace

@@kirstenornelas881 You and your family have been through hell and back. I hope you and your family can heal from all this trauma. You've done everything you could to make your parents lives easier. They were very lucky to have such people as your husband and you to take care of them. It's a pretty difficult path to go down. Bless you for being so giving. Peace

@@GOGOSLIFE thank you, though I don't feel the need for any special notice for doing what we did. We are, were, a family and that's what family should do. Be there for each other when things are bad and when things are good and every time in between. It was a lot of work esp with two children one of which has their own health issues from being born very prematurely thankfully it is not mental deficits but instead pretty intense digestive issues though i deal with my own digestive issues and it is hereditary so it could be partly that and or most or combination of that and being so premature. I recently had a neuroendocrine tumor removed with my appendix since it was inside it and thankfully this time it was benign but could return anywhere in my digestive or Lymph system and more often than not they are malignant so now I will go in every so often to make sure i get scans done to catch any more that might pop up. Anyways, through everything with parents and kids and other fam and friends I wouldn't change a min of it all. I just wish I had more time with them all. If I could have one more hour with anyone it would be my dad. I miss him so very much

I lost my sister and mother to cancer and I can say her "bragging" would have irritated me. However what really annoyed me is her dismissal of the guy's illness and op which was much bigger clearly than anything she has ever had to deal with. I don't blame the OP for feeling angry. She seems really immature and spoiled and I wonder if that relationship will last. I get the feeling he is going to have that angry feeling again.

Cat Lady should get the eviction. She was given two notices. Number one was when she signed the lease. Second was a verbal. I don't know the landlord's severity to the allergy but if he went to fix a leaky faucet and did not know the cat was there, his allergens could kick in and end him in the hospital. she could be liable for the hospital stay and lost wages from the LL's day job due to the lease (i.e. contract). I would wait till the crisis is over though but that depends on his severity. plus deduct from the security deposit for the cleaning from a professional carpet cleaner.

Well the fact that him and his lawyer were going through the legal process shows he gave the proper notices you don't just jump ahead to evict a person without going through a process And I do agree with the comment above

RE Mother’s Day. NTA. When my kids were little I always asked my awesome husband to take our 3 kids out for a few hours so that I could have some much needed “Quiet time”. They got to spend time with Dad and I could nap or read a book etc. alone. Best Mother’s Day gift ever.

I am 77 and it has been in our family lore for all of these years that I kept biting my mother while breastfeeding. She told my dad that if I did it one more time she would no longer breastfeed me. I bit her again and after that I got cold milk out of what passed for a sippy cup at the time. Didn't seem to bother me either physically or emotionally. I have always been more healthy than my siblings. 🤣

When my son was born I wanted to breast feed. He breast fed for only the few months that gave him my immunities. My breasts were full of sores. That baby could suck chrome off of a bumper. Nipples are incredibly sensitive. Many men have sensitive nipples too. I do not understand why people do not understand this. Everyone is different. When my Son cried to be fed I cried with him. He was a real meat eater. Seriously. Everyone is not able to breastfeed for as long as they would like.

Feeding a cat a vegan diet is cruel and animal abuse. Cats are carnivores and of you feed him a vegan diet he will die a slow and painful death from starvation.

if the landlord makes an exception for the cat he will be required to allow cats in all of his rentals or he will be violating fair housing rules

Yeah, I don't get why everyone's calling him an asshole. He told her MULTIPLE times to get rid of the cat, she agreed to the rules when she signed the lease, he is allergic to cats, it's his property, and yet people still think 'oh but she's old and there's a pandemic!'. Actually stupid. Most landlords I know would've kicked her out and kept the deposit for cleaning off any fur or cat litter sand. Absolutely NTA in my book, but whatever.

Having a key to someone's house does not mean permission to come and go like a resident. And to then just wander into rooms you have no business in, just because you can? I don't even do that while visiting close friends, when they're home. That woman has some freakish boundary issues.

Friends?! I have enemies who have done their best to burn me down and been more kind than that pack of sadists! WTAF?!?! Doing that to the paranoid tweeker in the corner at a party would be bad enough but to a so-called friend, for weeks?! And a friend who is suffering from a mental illness?! As a fairly stable bipolar that kind of situation would have me making an urgent appointment with my psych doctor and questioning the shred of sanity I feel that I have left some days. Find better friends OP. Stay with them and you'll end up in a psych ward with no need for enemies. Surround yourself with people who are caring, understanding, nurturing and won't exploit a mental illness that already wrecks havoc with your life. Much love! 😻

I've known my best friend legitimately my entire life. We grew up just walking in and out of eachothers houses, no knocking. Even now, there is no such thing as being a guest in either home... do what you want, help yourself to anything, get your own drinks lol. That said, now that she's married and has kids, even when I'm coming into town to stay with them and they're expecting me - I knock and wait to be let in. It's just different now. I would never just go into her house without her knowing. If I lived closer and had some reason to enter her house while she wasn't home, there would 10000% be a text asking if it was alright first. And if she said no, then no it would be. And if I saw something I wasn't meant to see, I'd either keep my mouth shut about it or maybe tease her depending what it was. Jesus. Hope that girl gets better friends.

It kinda felt like op was reflecting his resentment he on his first wife towards his daughter. Her entitlement doesn’t line up with the story as he barely acknowledges that he has children. He describes them as afterthoughts.

Think of it this way you get divorced at 20 with a young wife and kid you have lost your entire life you built so you move on support your ex and child while rebuilding. You find a new wife and she loves you even though your poor from your divorce the both of you work together to rebuild your income and life you both save and build that life. It’s 20 years later and your wife helped save for the house you live in and your wife helped to build your savings and retirement. Now your getting older and have supported 2 homes this whole time. Now after all this your comfortable and your kids are grown( we do not know if there supporting for college)and your happy in your life very trusting of your wife and your just wanting to enjoy the fruits of there labor. Now your daughter comes to you and says what do I get when you die? Your confused and say nothing my wife gets it and her response is I would love this house. It’s beautiful. Now can you really say he’s the jerk??

rachel Crawford exactly how do the kids deserve it over the wife that built the life they live whether he has children or not the wife helped him build that life so she is deserving of everything they built together and it is completely up to her whether to give anything to the children but most likely it will happen when she passes
