It's weird for her sisters and mother to find it weird. I see women do this all the time and thought it was just like patting the baby. I never knew it helped with the baby kicking. I have never felt it was weird and I've never known anyone who thinks anything at all about it.

rented a house for two years. went to hardware/lumber store (orange building) and spend about $1200 (US) on lumber and screws. Over a weekend I built/assembled a "floating" deck over the rear broken concrete patio because: 1) I wanted a level place to put some outdoor furniture and 2) to have a place for the dog and cats (had 2 at that time) to knock the mud & clay off their feet before entering the house. Approaching the time to move out (we bought a house) I asked the landlord if they wanted me to leave the deck for the sum of $750. He said, "no, it needs to be removed because it is devaluing the house". He was selling the house upon our moving out. I thought it strange but made one last offer. I indicated that I will be removing it in a couple days (weekend) and that once I start dismantling it (I used deck screws) that I would not stop. Never heard back, so after taking three deckboards off the landlord called upset saying that "the deck is attached to the property and I was not allowed to remove it". I replied that the 'deck' was not attached to anything and that the offer is off the table since I started removing it. The deck was dismantled, moved to some mountain property, reassembled and lives on as a deck in the woods. :) Screw you 'landlord'.

Why are these landlords so vacant? At least, when it benefits them? Wow. Good for you. My husband and I moved into a mess of a rental property. The blinds were sunrotted (Florida) and snapped the first month we were there by turning them to open. When it came time to move out, the landlady insisted we replace all of her blinds. We found clearance blinds at Kmart, done. When SO went to throw out the old blinds on the curb, she goes "oh you can give those to me." My husband looks at her making eye contact, and slowly snaps all of the old blinds and goes, "No I replaced them so these belong to me now." Turns foot and heads back inside. I also scrubbed a vinyl floor in a converted garage (hands and knees, 2 mos after giving birth) and she found fault saying the tiles are still dirty. Then she asks I use her "cleaner" for the floor. I accept and pick it up and show her it clearing says "varnish stripper" for floors. I point this out to her and say "Im not flipping her home for her" and unceremoniously shove she gallon jug of stripper back into her hands. Then she reluctantly accepts the floor is really clean. This lady also wrote and essay with bullet points as to why she thinks it would not be in "our best interest" to leave the property and move with lots of presumptuous reasons about our finances and new baby etc etc. It was an utter nightmare. Not including this lady lived right next door and "drove" over to the property to show us when we first toured it and moved in. We had asked her who lived next door and she said "another renter." It was her who lived there. The nightmare.

He screwed himself because the Assessors wiil lower the value a lot more than $750. Most buyers cannot lpay more than the house is worth as the loan underwriters use the property Professional Assessment as the base for the loan, so 10% or 20% down then they lend the rest. Broken concrete slab will cost hom a lot more in the end.

There is a story from the late 1700's or early 1800's about an Army post. Back then when a new higher ranking soldier moved to the post they got to choose which house they wanted kicking out the lower ranking soldier to move into the next available house or a tent if one wasn't available. One wife liked to decorate her home but got tired of all of her hard work going to the next higher ranking soldier's wife because her house was always chosen...so she decided to buy some light paneling and attach her wall paper to that. So when she was told to again move out of her house, she just took down the paneling to take it with her. The new wife was very upset that her home was no longer nicely wall papered.

I love the story about the twins taken in by their sister. I don't have children and was amazed at how my sister behaved towards her children. She was patient and never shouted or yelled at them. When they were upset she would comfort them and they would all hug and kiss each other and you could feel the love in the home. Such a contrast to how we were raised in a house of no kindness, very little love, and continual arguments, upset, and tension. When we cried we cried alone. I was so impressed that my sister didn't emulate our own upbringing.

I'm very glad there are people out there that are better parents than mine were. It took my mom 30+ years to consider having empathy for me (and let's not even get started on my absentee dad), she used to treat me assuming and dismissing my feelings because she couldn't begin to think of my feelings as not by default matching hers. She's put me through situations without ever asking me how I felt about them, expecting me to just accept everything, and when I started speaking up as I've been processing my depression over the years she had no idea what I was talking about when telling her I've been expected to swallow everything for years. She's been trying now that she understands, though, but I'm still so stunned it never occurred to her that hey, I am so clearly a separate person, why on earth would I necessarily feel about everything the way she did???? 🤦‍♀️ Anyhoo, again, she tries, it wasn't out of malice, she just had no idea (because of her own mom) that kids would need more than food, water, shelter, medical attention and being sent to school. We have generational stuff to work out in our family before I dare raise any kids myself

My sister once rented from a woman who believed that her renters property was hers. She would often go in when sis wasn't around and take food from the fridge and bin foodstuffs that she didn't like. My sister tried to plant some bulbs in the flowerbeds, but the landlady decided that they would look better in her garden, so she swooped in and took them. That was the last straw and she moved as soon as she could.

I had my baby over 2 years ago. I rubbed my belly all the time while I was pregnant. No-one ever said anything negative about it, mostly just asked if baby was moving and things like that. My baby was super active 🤷 and most people were really happy with my pregnancy and very kind. Younger people asked questions and it was all nice and friendly. I think asking a pregnant woman not to rub the belly is wrong. It's important for bonding. Hope OP updates us soon.

Wife emotionally cheating vs Husband cheating physically Story: For me, the most entertaining part of this story was “Markee” reading this story with said comments, i.e. “What am I doing with my life? Why am I reading this?” Writing the words do not have the same impact as listening to his responses as “Markee” reads. This was hysterically funny and actually pulled my attention. I usually listen to these stories as background, although, there are days I pay attention. I’ve lived a lot of life, dealt briefly with many thousands of people in person each year and I still do not understand extreme emotional behavior… Sometimes these ‘perspectives’ out of one’s life is informative… I especially enjoy satisfactory conclusions which involve happy or successful end results…

The belly rubbing pregnant woman. Get the family together, make sure your husband is with you, and it's not at your house. Put your foot down., "Rubbing my belly is not weird or disgusting., I have explained over and over that it calms the baby down and stop her from kicking me, which hurts. It's very disrespectful for you to bully me on something that is for my and my baby's health. Get over it! Stop bringing it up. I will rub my belly whenever I see fit. @hwiley8141
@hwiley8141 3 жыл бұрын
In the US, that wouldnt be a viable option. For disability, it may take years before she is approved, if at all. Having to walk with a cane doesnt automatically qualify you. Lets say she is able to get approved for disability in less than a year. Then they would take in account het work history and assests. Since she worked, she would probably get SSDI. Then she gets Medicare, not Medicaid, so she will have premiums and co pays. And it doesnt kick in until two years after you are approved for disability. Lets say the job didnt pay well enough, or she hasnt worked long enough. Then she gets SSI, and will be on Medicaid. So no premiums and no copays, no waiting, but not much coverage. They wont cover physical therapy if you tear your rotator cup until it has been an issue for over six months.

The garden tenant. If they didn't plant anything in the ground then it's theirs to take with them. If the landlords wanted it to stay, then they should have invested in redoing it in the first place. Everything the tenant did, was portable. Everything was in pots, and raised garden beds. That shows right from the start that they never intended it to be permanent. Sorry for the land lord, but posting pictures without verification that the tenant was leaving the space as is or taking it with them, that's their bad. Make sure. Period.

My father’s family split before the civil war because my ggg? grandfather seriously objected to slavery and refused to accept the part of his family that condoned it. He moved his family from Tennessee to Illinois to do what he could to help. He cut ties with his whole rebel family at a time when it just wasn’t done. I find it sad that it’s still necessary for a family to cut ties with a part of it over the same topic. But, if a family member feels and acts like that, they are like a cancer that has to be cut out to protect the rest of the family. NTA

My Great Grandma ,may she rest in heaven, got her license rejected at the ripe age of 94 when her vision and reflexes startedto slip. She was livid, she had a fabulously well taken care of T-Bird. She lived to the ripe age of 104, blind in one eye, nearly deaf,, but had all her wits all the way to the end and could still walk with a walker, and take herself to the bathroom. Very big accomplishments for someone that age. I'll miss her, but she had a long and wonderful life.

Had something like this happen to me. My friends older sister (total bitch from day one) kept ragging on both me and her only having one kid apiece (me, due to medical; her by choice), then went on to give her shit for adopting a foster child instead of 'Just pushing another kid out' (note: both my friend and I are married, went to college and both have our own home businesses, while her sister is a high school drop out, has a mediocre job she can barely be bothered to do and leeches off her parents and the men in her life). Older sister had said this shit many to us times before before - going as far as to follow us from room to room, continuously berating her and my life choices, despite us telling her that she was being rude, mean and hurtful. When that didnt work, we graduated to 'mind your own business' and 'please butt' out (the last comment was mine). Well, eventually we got So sick of her shit, both me and my friend begin attacking back. We pointe'd out how she babytrapped hubby #1 into marriage at 17 (he was 18 and she threatened him with the cops. They divorced 18 months later when he caught her with his brother). That baby two came from her scumbag, MARRIED Boss, that baby threes dad is unknown because she screwed 5 different men in one week! And the only reason we knew baby four was hubby #2 was because he demanded a paternity test (he later left her and took the kid after she stole over $1,500 from his account to go on a girls trip to Vegas). We went on to say that until SHE got her own shit together, she had no right to give either of us grief. I must admit, it was very satisfying to tear her a new asshole. She ran to MOMMY (funny watching a 37 yr old do that), but mom sided with us, telling her to GROW UP and to STFU because he was more then tired of her bitching. She pretty much ignored us both after that.

No, no, no, no god no....the girl who's new boyfriend has a box full of trophies that he plays with behind a locked door late at night while he has his brand new girlfriend one room over needs to get away for a few days and make sure those girls are still alive. Having momentos is normal. Looking at them once or twice a year when the mood strikes or an anniversary happens is also pretty normal. Playing with those momentos every night in a locked room while you've got a brand new girlfriend waiting for you next door is some serious serial killer shit. What he's doing is not only not normal, it's beyond normally obsessive, and she's absolutely at risk. That's not emotions. Psychopaths don't have those.

Arranged Marriage OP is absolutely NTA, but I don't really hold X's reaction against her either since she is now very alone and exposed in a country where she is treated like men's property. She was groomed (yes, groomed) since childhood to be married to OP, feeling safety in knowing who she was gonna be with and not get handed over to some stranger. If the adults told her not to tell Y and OP, that was a part of the grooming process just as much as a child molester telling a kid to keep their "games" secret from others. Now, the only basket she was even allowed to put eggs in has gotten smashed right in front of her. I'm glad OP found P, and I do hope OP, P and X have it in them to team together in getting X out as well, if she's receptable to it

'Four hungry children and crops in the field' - This is from Lucille as sung by Kenny Roger's and written by Bowling and Bynum. It is a really good country classic. "In a bar in Toledo across from the depot On a barstool she took off her ring I thought I'd get closer So I walked on over I sat down and asked her name When the drink finally hit her She said I'm no quitter But I finally quit living on dreams I'm hungry for laughter And here ever after I'm after whatever The other life brings In the mirror I saw him And I closely watch him I thought how he looked out of place He came to the woman Who sat their beside me He had a strange look on his face The big hands were calloused He looked like a mountain For a minute I thought I was dead But he started shakin' His big heart was breakin' He turned to the woman and said "You picked the fine time to leave me Lucille Four hungry children and a crop in the field I've had some bad times Lived thru' some sad times But this time your hurtin' won't heal You picked the fine time to leave me Lucille" After he left us, I ordered more whiskey I thought how she made him look small From the lights of the bar room to a rented hotel room We walked without talking at all She was a beauty, but when she came to me She must have thought I lost my mind I couldn't hold her, 'coz the words that he told her Kept coming back time after time You picked the fine time to leave me Lucille Four hungry children and a crop in the field I've had some bad times Lived thru' some sad times But this time your hurtin' won't heal You picked the fine time to leave me Lucille You picked the fine time to leave me Lucille Four hungry children and a crop in the field I've had some bad times Lived thru' some sad times But this time your hurtin' won't heal You picked the fine time to leave me Lucille."

The arranged marriage situation: they met before the little girl was 6. Normally people don't develop romantic feelings for people they've met in childhood before the age of 6, so OP's parents are morons for thinking they could marry them to each other later on. The people ruining the family are the people that arranged the marriage without even bothering to tell OP let alone asking him first, WTF??? Also: X shouldn't want to marry someone from the village, potential inbreeding and stuff. Healthy practice throughout humanity's history is to find someone from a different village

She screwed her own life up. They’re not even married and she screwed around and cheated on him. Why on earth would she think he would still wanna pay for her surgery? Actions have consequences. Although I believe he should’ve just ended the relationship and not bothered staying with her. She cheated, she had no respect for him whatsoever and he can do better. * he’s not the one making her disabled. She’s an adult responsible for herself. If she ends up disabled it’s because of her actions, she knew about this for a long time she could’ve saved up her own money or figured it out. I don’t think he’s the asshole at all for not paying for her surgery.

My husband would go out and not come back forever. This was before cell phones. I fixed it by going out myself and didn't come back when I said I would. I was forever, and he didn't know where I was. I got home and told him, how do you like it? He didn't do it again. I always told my kids, if you are under 18 and live in my house, you have no privacy. They understood and were fine with it.
