"So...girls and women who are infertile or have medical issues, or have had hysterectomies are not women?" "Oh-wait, uh...no, they are!" To clarify the beating thing: in Medieval England there were laws that related the price of bread to the price of the wheat used to make it. Bakers who were found to be “cheating” their customers by overpricing undersized loaves were subject to strict punishment, including fines or flogging. Even with careful planning, it is difficult to ensure that all of your baked goods come out the same size; there may be fluctuations in rising and baking and air content, and many of these bakers didn’t even have scales to weigh their dough. For fear of accidentally coming up short, they would throw in a bit extra to ensure that they wouldn’t end up with a surprise flogging later. In fact, sometimes a baker’s dozen was 14-just to be extra sure. Now adays that's.... not a thing anymore

Doctors can tell there's likely something wrong with the baby's kidneys if the volume of amniotic fluid is too low. So, yes, prior to birth, that beautiful little baby is floating in a bag of pee. On a different subject, IQ is pretty much BS that doesn't measure much of anything. Still believe that a soldier engaging in combat only being 6 times more likely of getting killed than a woman in a relationship is vile. Only 6 times. They literally fight with firearms. Killing is like, a huge part of war. Killing is NOT supposed to be a big part of being in a relationship.
@Broadpaw_Fox2 жыл бұрын
This. I took that slide as having a different meaning. It was more of an awareness thing than a danger comparison. Everyone knows that war is dangerous and deadly, but I didn't realize there were that many murders in that catagory over that time period. Something to be aware of, for sure. Something to talk about and reduce, as well.
@kissit0122 жыл бұрын
@Gareth Tucker relationships are difficult if you have poor social skills and are a poor judge of character/ terrible person. It should not ever be harder that war or straight up murdering people, hence the difference in mentality and approach by men vs women. Women should absolutely be extremely cautious engaging with men with this knowledge
@comradewindowsill42532 жыл бұрын
There's a statistical problem here tho. men go to war a lot less than women are in relationships. if they gave percentages then maybe we could draw conclusions about relative risk, but as it stands it doesn't really say anything meaningful. you'd need to not only count #deaths/#total for both men at war and women in relationships, but also divide each number by a length of time to make them equivalent. length of deployment is usually something you can get stats on, but length of relationships is quite varied. Does going on two dates with a tinder serial killer and getting murdered put you in this number, or is that not long enough to qualify as a relationship? what if there's a correlation between certain lengths of relationship and being more likely to get killed? The sad thing is, if they had gone through the data that rigorously it could have given us actual useful insights rather than just being used as a shock number.
@aprilia82222 жыл бұрын
@Gareth Tucker Are you... Trying to justify murdering women...?

To be honest, this "only" is a bit exaggerating if you think about it. If a chance is 15% (still alot but for the sake of math, one in seven dies), 6 times that is 90% (so 1 in 10 survive). Since we don't lose half of an army to every war, we can suppose that the soldier's chance of survival is higher than 50%. With this math, imagining an absolute maximum (aka the impossible worst scenario) of 50%, the first percentage is around 8%, so around 1 every 13. Still pretty high, but also taken from a basically impossible scenario.

I second this. About 10 years ago at the end of primary school, I almost offed myself due to bullying and them making me believe I was worthless and only caused inconvenience and harm to other people. The only reason I didn't is I couldn't bare the thought of making my mum, dad and sister who love me so much feel so bad when those feelings weren't their faults at all. I thought I was weak and selfish at the time. 6 years later, during my year 12 year, at a different school, I was the Performing Arts Tech Club Leader, Environment Captain and Indigenous (Australia) Interest Group Co-Captain all during the same year and brought so much good to the school. Now, I am reaching the end of uni and finishing training to help on film projects in the audio department where more people are needed where I live and I am about to walk 100km over 48 hours for charity for the first time at the end of March. There have been so many people who I have met and made connections with and so much good I have done that I wouldn't have been able to do if I had offed myself back 10 years ago. Just wanted to share that as you could think you are selfish or weak for not taking that action, but it takes strength to continue in such a horrible situation and you can easily prove those people wrong, given time. I have had to have counselling due to those experiences which helped me tremendously and I would recommend that as with help, it still took me 5 years to get back on my feet. The incel guy isn't even correct: we're closer to being able to fertilize an egg with another egg than we are to being able of making functional uterii, because turns out incubation isn't just a womb, it's also filtering out the baby's toxins, a natural form of IV nutrition, it monitors the fetal hormones and helps the various growth stages happen... Basically the best bet for men would be cloning... using a surrogate. (Or womb transplants and a lot of estrogen to make sure the wombs are still functional, which means those men would lose the whole "virile" part of the gig in favor of becoming fertile, and at that point it's just IRL omegaverse maybe without the butt-babies.)

In pregnancy, the mother is not “just an incubator”. First, women can experience having ovarian tumors that are literally mutated eggs that develop hair, eyes, or other body parts… I have never heard of something similar happening to sperm. Second, the woman’s body is supplying everything needed to actually form the baby. I have had 2 pregnancies. With both, I was unable to eat from morning sickness for most of the pregnancy, and lost about 50 lbs both times. The woman’s body also helps produce and oxygenize the baby’s blood. I don’t think a man made incubator would be viable for a human fetus, unless it’s already in the last trimester of pregnancy. Even then, it would probably be more likely to fail than a woman’s body. Even if it were possible, it would take many decades to get anywhere close to as reliable as women in bringing an embryo all the way to term. I mean, incubators work for stuff like chicken eggs because the eggs themselves (after a rooster fertilizes) have everything needed to produce the chick except heat. Saying a human fetus could be brought to term without being in a woman’s womb would be like saying a chick can be developed by an incubator without the egg itself. That’s just not how that works.

I pointed that was literally evolution, they where just describing evolution. But they insisted that evolution was drastic things like a fish deciding to turn into an alligator, these where subtle changes over a long period of time.

Its not curable because its justa preference at the time for that person. Its perfectly natural. I think s lot of it boils down to families being embarrassed socially, and because they fear a lack of passing on of genes, which causes someoneto panic. The death of a bloodline is something a lot of family fear. In addition the inability to see something from someone's poverty and logic/pride of the person being in the way.

an extremely tiny nitpick; generally, from what i've heard (if i am confidently incorrect here, please correct me) most historians now think that money wasn't invented to replace a complicated barter system, rather that usually in original smaller communities pre-cities people would operate solely on a favor basis- you give what another person needs based on the knowledge that they will do the same to you in the future. Money started being used between people who did not know each other well enough to trust that a favor would be properly returned
@sagenaw71372 жыл бұрын
That's so interesting!

I think it’s maybe both bc I know in school we were taught the barter thing. Not that the school system hasn’t been wrong before of course. Plus if it’s really recent then ofc I wouldn’t know bc I learned that like five to ten years ago and from an even older textbook too.

Just remember that your labels can shift as you get to know yourself better. right?? also the only correct thing in that og tweet is that there are enby lesbians and lesbians who are on the mspec (like gender fluid ig), but the rest and their argument wasn't it hahah but at the end of the day, labels 1) aren't necessary if u don't want any and 2) are for YOU to identify and feel comfortable about YOURSELF, so whatever works (within reason) is totally valid

Well, the post wasn't completely wrong; bisexual is a very broad term that technically includes anybody that has even the smallest potential of finding a man attractive, even somebody it'd never realistically happen to. Technically I'm bi, but I'm attracted to other women the vast majority of the time, and am only romantically attracted to other women, so although I am capable of finding a man attractive it has no realistic chance of actually happening in practice, so I use the term lesbian anyway.

If we end up with not needing the extras, the bakers take them home. If the bakers don't want any, they are given to the customers for free.
