She's gonna have to pay the 160k + more to her daughter for damages + the amount of money she'll have to pay for commiting fraud + the fact that this will probablly be a few year prison sentence. She's about to have a really bad time. But it's her fault, she choose to ruin her own life.

The problem is OP engaged in this tit for tat and negotiating amounts with her mother instead of immediately filing charges. A DA is probably not going to get involved at this point and say it's a civil matter. It is entertaining though that the mother keeps asking if OP is gambling or on drugs, like lady, you're the one that was clearly desperate enough for money that you committed insurance fraud at the expense of your own kid, do YOU have a drug or gambling problem?

Indeed but to be fair the opportunity never would've presented itself to the parents if OP was not a complete idiot... Who the fuck goes driving at 60 mph on a icy road with mudding tires?!?! Those are literally the worst option of tires for winter. They're meant to dig into dirt/mud to get their grip. On a hard icy surface, they don't even have half the grip of summer tires. It's not even safe to drive at that speed on an icy road with winter tires!!! lol

There is update from 3th story and oh boy, op parents are psychopats. When op mother kicked her boyfriend from apartment, his kids stayed at his friends house he was homeless. Op mother stole op cellphone to not contact her boyfriend, she treaten she will kill her boyfriend. Op tried to sue her mother but they didn't had any evidence of her mother saying such things, so they installed cameras. They are slowly collecting evidence from fraud that op mother did, pretending that she was her daughter. Op said that her parents are old and on retirement and have nothing better to do. Plus, op psychopath mother is helping ex wife of her boyfriend, she wants him to loose rights to his children also when op mother changed her insurance, Op is left with 50k debt from hospitals bills. Also op mother went to police to arrest op bf, she told police some false stories about him.

First Story: Ok. So OP's mom is extremely selfish and greedy. OP should definitely get all the evidence, get a lawyer, and sue her mom for that $160k. The amount of lying and manipulation is insane. I find it ironic how OP's mom shows concerns about what OP does with her money, yet she constantly expect every dime OP gets to go to her Second Story: That is how serial killers are born (half joke). That being said, this male Karen really think it's ok for his child to abuse animals?! Such great parenting from this one (sarcasm) Third Story: Wait, wait, wait....what?! Thats all OP did? All OP did was cut them out of her life??? OP's mom committed identity fraud and all they got were restraining orders?! OP should’ve had her mom arrested and she should’ve sued them. Oh I almost forgot about the kidnapping and being held hostage. OP's parents are not entitled, they are insane Fourth Story: $16k a month?! Damn OP, what are u doing? Are they hiring? What are the requirements? That being said, OP's mom's level of audacity is sky high. OP's siblings aren’t OP's problem, especially after 7 years of no talking? Hahaha

Story 1 & 3: for everyone in the comments wondering why they aren't doing more to their parents....as someone who has Stockholm Syndrome with my own parents....it's not as easy to emotionally extricate yourself from them and this mental programming that you are supposed to help them.
@SoManyRandomRamblings
@SoManyRandomRamblings Жыл бұрын
Loyalty is one of the main things you are raised being told is critical, basically programmed, you aren't required to like your family, but you have to be loyal. They mix the abuse with love. They would cry while hitting us, saying they didn't want to do this, but that we made them. They have other families as friends who are also abusive so that everyone can sit around and literally laugh about what is going on, so it was 100% normalized. I had some friends who had parents worse than mine. They also made sure that every bit of news (or movie/tv show) about horrible foster care or abusive adoptive families was talked about/shown regularly. Comedians who had bits about violence within their own households or childhoods were regularly played. We were raised that this was normal, and they had enough examples of worse that we thought we had it not just good, but great. Mom passed away about 5 years ago, but to this day still, my dad thinks they were awesome parents. (Mom found God beforehand and spent many many hours (on multiple different occasions) apologizing for things that they did to us in our youth.

@@SoManyRandomRamblings god this resonates with me hard. My mother and brother were my abusers, she encouraged he violently attack me, she neglected me and forced me to bring him up as if he were my own child (it’s an actual miracle I got all my school qualifications), she neglected me and made sure I knew I was “the reason” life was terrible, she had problems, etc etc. She was adopted, an abused child herself, but she got adopted into an absolutely amazing family who loved her, they did NOT bring her up to behave this way, but she did anyway. My Gran constantly at war with her about it but she could only do so much, as she was ageing and her health wasn’t good, so she tried HARD with my mother but just couldn’t get her to show me basic kindness or love. Because she was adopted? I was instilled with this fear of going into care, despite the fact I absolutely should’ve been put into care, that I’d be assaulted, I’d be SA’d, that I’d wish I was dead, that fear was pushed into me HARD whilst also being taught “family loyalty is everything” As an adult I cut all contact, because family loyalty doesn’t mean anything if you can’t treat your daughter with basic love and kindness, where your son is the only child to receive any love. It took a LONG time to overcome that feeling of serious guilt like I’d done something wrong by standing up for myself, like I needed to apologise for standing up for myself, like I needed to crawl back and beg forgiveness. That Stockholm Syndrome feeling is hard to fight against after a lifetime of abuse and manipulation, thank you SO MUCH for putting those feelings into words.

It's always "how dare you talk to my child that way" or "don't parent my kid, that's my job". It's not just on parents to individually raise their children. And I feel stupid every day for not doing anything sooner, because "he's a friend. He'll pay me back, he said he would". Well, he still hasn't. He saved my bank details on his PayPal, because he wanted something that didn't cost much, so I gave him my bank card to buy it. I didn't cancel my card because he said he has a kid on the way and needed stuff. I knew it wasn't my responsibility to pay for a kid that isn't mine, but I kept thinking, "you don't want him thinking you're jealous if you say no. You want him to still be a friend. His kid needs nice things". I guilt tripped myself every time money came out of my account, and told myself "I don't need this money as much as others. I could use it to help", even when it wasn't for his kid. He used my money over PayPal to spend a couple nights in a hotel with his girlfriend a few times, decorating her bedroom, and stuff for his car I bought. I regret it, because I could've put a deposit on a house by now. I could've used my grandma's inheritance on me, and not someone who didn't deserve a penny of it.

My bio grandfather was a very very wealthy man so my dad had a large sum of money that was supposed to go to him first in small payments to help with raising him then a final amount when he turned 18. Soon my grandmother remarried to a total douchebag who decided they would steal all of my fathers money and spend it on some scam, where they ended up losing it all. This happened 50 years ago. Like, she had the smarts to call the insurance company and basically get everything in writing that the check was submitted and cashed in her name, plus the litany of texts from her mother about the money yet, is so beat down by her that she just keeps trying to reason with a monster. OP knows how her mother is tactics wise yet seems to be hopeful that her mother will just give her the money with enough time which will NEVER HAPPEN! Rslash came from a functioning loving family and it shows. It isnt as easy as "well just move out and dont give her money" when you're a daughter of a narcissistic sociopath, you have a warped sense of reality and responsibility. The fact rslash, after reading so many narcissistic parents stories, knowing how difficult it is for children of narcissistic parents, would openly victim blame is disgusting. "I'm not victim blaming but I'm gonna victim blame" no! Unless you have experienced being a child of a narcissistic parent, you have absolutely no right to blame us. It's not as easy as move out. It's not as easy as dont do what they want. It's not as easy as go no contact. To us, this behaviour is normal and we have no idea how to break that normal. We have no support, we are brainwashed into believing we deserve this, this is what love is and all we are worth. It takes time and strength to break out of the fog. Being a child of a narcissistic parent is like drug or alcohol addiction, you have to hit rock bottom before you can get better. Dont be a dick, just have some compassion.

@@audreym3908 thank you, I am. I've been no contact over 20+ years but unfortunately still live in the same town so occasionally run into them :-/ it took so many years to get out if the fog. I make jokes about my childhood, the abuse, the fact my mum made me ANA, put me in foster care, etc. But I've also heard all of what rslash said. When I was a kid my mum would kick me out, leave me homeless for days and then report me as a runaway when school asked questions, this went on from ages 6 to about 11 ish. When I was 11/12 my mum voluntarily put me in foster care, this meant she could decide if I was in care or at home and boy did she know this! She would put me in foster care until her government child money stopped, bring me home until she got paid it again, rinse and repeat until I was 16. Even though I knew what she was doing was wrong, that the abuse I suffered was wrong, all I wanted was for my mum to love me. When I was 13 I learnt about munchausens and narcissists and sociopaths, when I was 15 my therapist told me my mum was a narcissistic sociopath and she had been diagnosed as a child. Turns out, we didn't move a lot because my mum liked to travel, we moved a lot because my mum was never supposed to have kids due to her instability (I'm Norwegian, my siblings are English, we moved a lot from Norway and England and eventually settled in the uk) it wasnt until my late teens/early 20s that I started limiting contact and eventually went no contact. At 31 l, after years of therapy, I'm in a good place. I'm happy, I'm as healthy as one can be with genetic and life limiting illnesses and disabilities lol, I'm engaged and we are in a good place in our lives. I am self aware of my actions, I am more than aware that my mum will NEVER love me (narcissistic sociopath) and my siblings will never defend me against her (also narcissists), that whole family is toxic and I am so much better off without them BUT when I needed surgery for my endometriosis in august 2022, when I was told in march 2020 that I will never have kids, when I was told in December 2015 pregnancy would kill me and when my 4 month old twins died in march 2012 all I wanted was my mum. I knew opening contact would be more hurtful, I knew she would never support me, I knew all the insults she would throw at me but that didnt stop some tiny part of me saying "what if?" What if she will be? What if shes changed? What if she does love me? What if..... and unfortunately THAT is the reality of being a child of a narcissistic parent. The what if of life. When you're in the fog like the op in the story, you tell yourself it's normal, all mums behave this way. You tell yourself "shes right! She did raise me for 18 years" you tell yourself that giving them money is ok this time because what if they've changed? Itll be different this time. I've been a victim of SA and DV, and honestly, being the daughter of a narcissistic parent is exactly like a DV relationship. Nobody sits there and says "why did you dress like that then?" Or "why didnt you just leave the 1st time they hit you?" But they'll always say things rslash said. It's the same relationship as one with an abusive partner. If you wont blame a victim of DV or a victim of SA, why would you blame a victim of a narcissistic parent? Because the truth is, being a child of a narcissistic parent or a narcissistic family IS a domestic violence relationship! It is a form of DV and people forget that too often. So, rslash, would you blame a DV victim for staying? Would you say those same things about someone who is being DV? Would you say it about someone who had been SA? No? So think next time. Also, anyone who starts off with "I'm not victim blaming but....." is gonna fucking victim blame and you should just not say it. Its literally the equivalent of "I'm not being racist but...." just dont do it. Whatever you were about to say, just dont. Edit to add, sorry for rambling, I wanted to help people understand and English is not my native language and I rely on Google translate lol also, I'm not looking for sympathy, I just wanted people to take an example of my NM abuse and understand that despite the awful things we experienced, we still want their love and validation. That it's not as easy as just walking away.

For the first story I see so many "I cant believe OP let her mom do that" or "why isnt OP taking steps to get the money back" as if being raised by someone like that doesnt make this kind of behavior seem normal and make it easier for the mom make her do these kinds of things because of the years of this behavior OP has had to live with all her life. This isn't a random occurrence, this has most likely been the way her mom was all her life. "My mom forced me to go and withdraw $20k" is very much a thing the mom can do with the mental conditioning she's given her daughter. It's not a matter of "just say no lol" it's a matter of "this poor woman has been living with her mother and seeing this behavior all she wants and probably was going into survival mode to keep things from continuing/escalating and wasnt considering the word 'no' as a proper response at this time" Shitty parents arent usually found out to be shitty until it's too late, dudes. I’m still absolutely terrified of going through with anything but I’m trying to push myself through. I’m terrified that I’m not deserving of the money and that I’m a terrible person for doing this." So yeah, the reason why she's scared of suing her mother is because of all the abuse she went through to the point that she's scared that if she rebels against her mother in anyway shape or form, her life will be further ruined than it already is. It's amazing that emotional abuse can have these types of effects on a person and I think is why these parents do this to their kids. RSlash never start a sentence with “not to victim blame”. That is what you did and saying that just made it worse

I honestly thought story 3 was to be much different before the crash. The talk of dropping soneone at a hospital would involve a parking lot Karen. My dad had a parking lot Karen in a hospital lot trying to leave through the entrance blocking him from entering and picking someone up. Of course he was blocking her from leaving and didn't move because he was entering and didn't want to back up into a busy street and wait for her to leave the wrong way. To which this lady threatened to charge him with her car. Which he thought and I quote "Yeah, your little 4 cylinder sedan is going to take down my 6 cylinder crossover." She moved out of the way realizing he wasn't moving for her. That's what I thought OP would encounter

Third story: sue the hospital for negligence if they kicked you out during a snowstorm leaving you with no choice but to drive home in the storm they are negligent. They should have known kicking you out would have a substantial certainty if an accident could occur in a snowstorm.

The 1st story: among being greedy, I'm absolutely sure that one of the reasons of this behavior is trying to prevent OP from leaving and getting their own home. Had a mom like this and she pulled some pretty similar stuff to OP's mom with my brother.
