The controller was not the problem with the Titan, in fact it was the best thing it had going for it, given it is actually very intuitive and easy to use if you know what you are doing It's the fact that it was a metal can that couldn't handle the water pressure and also had no methods of recovery that was awful

One that especially comes to mind is the Fairey Swordfish. It was more often than not used as a torpedo bomber but also had variants that performed ASW (Anti-Submarine Warfare). One example of the Swordfish in service was on May 26th, 1941 during the Royal Navy's hunt for the Kriegsmarine battleship Bismarck. Long story short, the Swordfish crippled Bismarck with a few torpedoes, and Bismarck would be sunk the next day. Hope I shed some light on this.
