No. I grew up in the seventies. The kind of behavior exhibited by an even mildly autistic person is something I only saw maybe once in my entire life up until I was nearly 25. Today at the age of 47, I can go to a grocery store twice a week and instantly spot any child (or even more disturbingly, an ADULT) behaving in the neurologically abnormal manner attributed to autism disorder. It's becoming pervasive, and its increased presence has zero to do with diagnoses: it has to do with the unmistakable abnormality of the behavior itself, existing entirely outside the accepted and normal manner of public behavior our society allows and dictates. This makes it easy to discern when seen, and it was once incredibly rare to witness as to make it nearly unheard of. Today, it's practically everywhere. The difference has nothing to do with an increase of diagnostic methods.

You COULD just be living in an area that happens to have a recent influx of autistic people, but the point I'm trying to make is that I personally have never witnessed a "visibly autistic" person, and I work at a fast food restaurant and go to the grocery store about once a week, so does that mean they don't exist? You can't argue something if the only evidence you present is personal experience.

If you witness behavior that seems just simply “abnormal” to you chances are its not even a symptom at its just simply weird to you. Autistic people aren’t just people acting weird there is a list of symptoms. So if we’re speaking of one symptom then it could indeed be a general shift of a certain habit being more common in society. But again this could not be an symptom of autism and if it was, if would not make everyone who has that symptom autistic because you need a lot of these symptoms to happen to one person at the same time. As someone who was tested for autism you can’t possibly witness enough symptoms by just observing them at a store to rightfully identify someone as autistic, I could not even manage to show all of my few “autistic traits” in a public setting within a few minutes if I tried to.

Just a FYI here. I attended elementary school in Kentucky back in the 60s. One of the requirements before my parents could enroll me in school was proof of my vaccinations. If I remember correctly, the required ones were polio, rubella, chicken pox, and measles. This was about 50 years ago. Except for a couple of religions granted exemptions, it was both required and accepted by parents as a good thing. Because of this, polio and several other diseases were pretty much eradicated in this country.

A parking lot at a school? Man, my old college should have done that, but instead...they sold the lot. 6 years later, it still sits there, cracked and abandoned. The only lot they had left was the one you had to pay to use, but it was a one time payment of 10.00. The university I went to after that though...They built more buildings we didn't need, then a 2nd stadium, a 3rd art gallery, a 2nd indoor basketball court, and yet they don't really care about the people who paid more for the closer parking. You can pay for close or far parking, far parking is next to the gas station in a giant lot...and adjacent to the street that keeps reporting theft and murders. Close parking: $254 for 2 semesters Far parking: 174 for 2 semesters Summer: Free After school hours: Free They would host events and use the limited close parking spaces and put up signs saying $75 fee for parking in those spots. You must park inside another close area but it is on the opposite side of the whole university, and has less than half of the spaces to park in. They would usually put up a sign saying when an event is, so you can plan on being screwed (unless you can find a space inside the first 20 spaces before the event line) but sometimes they won't put up a sign and you will return to your car with a ticket. They are VERY greedy, to the point that if your car is 10 seconds too long somewhere, they ticket it. They have spaces that you can pay for time, 3-4 dollars for 2 hours, you will know someone is about to run out of time when you see a guy in a vest on a golf cart. They will look at their tablet and it will pull up cars near expiration and they will sit in front of the car, ready to write a ticket. However, if you show up before they can write it, they cannot give you a ticket even if you do not move your car. So my friend would give me his keys and ask me to sit in his car until he got out of class. The price for a parking expiration is $15, and I have done it 3 times. They have numbers on the spaces, but make sure you have the correct number or you just paid for someone else. Also if your parking pass is not in clear view (Knocked it down with backpack) you will get a larger fee. P I've also had someone with authority pull me right as I got out of class because I made a dark joke and they wanted to make sure I was not mental and going to kill people. Which I was made to have mandatory checkups on my mental health, so that was just great, especially when I knew exactly who reported me. But when I was pulled to the side and finally finished, I come back to a parking ticket for 5 minutes over the limit. And they couldn't waive the fee because I should have known the rules.
