It's like the Wild West down there in all those little burgs. Though this instance is considerably tamer than what the lady in the video talked about, but you ever hear of New Rome, Ohio? Little village that was also in Franklin. It achieved infamy due to its traffic court and speed trap, which received national media attention, and the internal corruption of its local government. In 2004, the village was ordered legally dissolved by a Franklin County Court of Common Pleas judge, and its residents, land and assets were made part of Prairie Township.

For anyone wondering, I looked into the case discussed at 13:27. The case had followed a similar high profile case in the same year, where nation wide protests were being held. Due to political pressure, several legal processes were bypassed in the original trial, including the opportunity to cross examine 10 of the 49 witnesses involved in the trial. India's Supreme court believed that the original conviction was based on emotional factors rather than evidence, and that the prosecution had not proven the charges, so they overturned the decision and acquitted the accused. While it is possible that 3 guilty persons were spared the death penalty, it is also possible that 3 innocent persons were. Though this situation is emotional and painful, it does not appear to be the gross miscarriage of justice that the article implies it is.
