As a person who does a lot of the things that these people think are "quirky", I'm just going to say that you're not that special, a lot of girls this generation do these sorts if things and the only reason that you think you are so "weird" is because you rely on stereotypes to make comparisons. Also, shaming the "other girls" for liking what they like doesn't make you cool, it's just disrespectful to people who enjoy wearing makeup and like pink, or whatever you think is "normal". Just because you go around wearing all black and eating junk food doesn't make you quirky, if anything, you are going out of you're way to seem special by using certain things you think make people unique. Instead use the things that actually make yourself special, just do you, not everyone is the same, and just because you happen to be strutting around, burger in hand, and wearing a t-shirt of whatever edgy rock band you enjoy, doesn't make you better than everybody who is the complete opposite. I am not trying to say that you're a bad person if you relate to the "not like other girls" statement, I just wanted to make a point. Sorry if this came across as harsh.

Man I remember when I went through my I'm not like other girls phase, it's more common than people think really. For me it started when I was in middle school after hitting puberty, people started making weird comments about me because I was becoming more like an adult body wise and I hated it. I felt like I was being forced to grow up, to be girly so I rejected everything that's considered feminine. I had this phase for about 2-3 years and then I grew out of it once I realized I actually liked the things I hated so much as a middle schooler. I started wearing makeup and pretty dresses for self expression and it's made me so much more comfortable in my own skin, it makes me regret being how I was when I didn't know how empowering these things could be for me. If you know someone in one of these phases I suggest just letting them figure it out themselves, they will probably grow out of it. Just support them for who they are and don't try to force them out of it or they might be more like one of these people

At my old school there was like a gang of "Not like other girls"- I was friends with one of them before she starting trying to act all edgy, and it was like every time she saw me she had to try and convince me that she was nothing like other girls.
