Yep - even in the trans community people who were assigned female at birth like me become misogynistic and its insane! How has life experience not allowed them to see the disparity between how we treat men and women?
@hkandm4s23

There are absolutely a lot that think they can't be misogynist because they are a woman and still have the old fashioned view of feminism that masculine=good and feminine=bad. Like the people that claim to be feminists by insulting traditionally feminine women or stay at home moms. I see it the most in fully conservative or religiously brainwashed women, women stuck in an old fashioned idea of feminism, or literal children trying to find their identity who feel shame and embarrassment at anything that signals their own femininity.

Wearing crocs around a horse is insanely stupid. I used to do some horseback riding myself as a kid. As part of that I also had to take proper care of the horse. I was wearing proper boots. Got a bit to close to the horse. Dude stepped on my foot. Not even like fully stepped on it, he gently put his hoof on my foot but when he realized he wasn't standing on the ground, he was standing on me, he immediately stepped back. He only put half his weight on it I guess because otherwise, my foot would have been broken for sure. Only hurt for a few days tho. Lucky me. Wear proper shoes around animals that potentially can crush your bones to a fine dust by stepping on your foot accidentally.
@wartgin
@wartgin Ай бұрын
I didn't have boots but was fortunately wearing hard leather shoes when a horse shifted slightly when I was standing beside him grooming him while visiting friends. The soft ground also helped so I didn't have any injury but it is exciting trying to get a big animal to shift over a bit when they don't even realize they are stepping on you.

Absolutely! I mean, I'm not really as experienced in construction, but I used to take woodworking and... jewelry, long sleeves, and baggy clothes were literally banned. If you had long hair, it NEEDED to be put up. I remembered a woodworking teacher saying one time, "If you wanna play with a living blade, feel free to pay the replacement fee [$100~ish to replace it] upfront." [It was one of those cool blades that retracted immediately when it felt human skin] I also took welding classes-- and I don't really know how you're supposed to make yourself attractive underneath a full body suit, gloves, and headvisers. [Maybe with makeup? But eugh, it would get so sweaty so fast under that protective gear... go for it if you want, but I would rather not-- I would definitely get an acne breakout!] TL:DR; That post was super confusing to me

I've heard of it. It brings me to tears knowing that you could drag someone who uses the opportunity to stomp down on those who have been victimized by going on entirely preformative "moral" crusades and condemnations about manner of dress, or "provocative" conversation, or any number of convoluted arcane "signals" that have to be interpreted in very specific logic defying ways where doing the opposite also signals the same thing premeditated predators take as an "invitation" mid-self-serving-sermon and force them to explain what was wrong with each one and they'd be back to their preaching as soon as they felt properly avenged against how their rights were violated by being forced to be in an uncomfortable situation they were prevented from escaping.

@teritt
@teritt Ай бұрын
Because they don’t understand that feminism was literally a fight against commercialized sex slavery for women. People don’t realize that women back then were literally a _type_ of slave. Their labor was that of a nanny, a maid, and a sex slave, their owners their fathers and husbands. Do you know why feminism finally picked up in America after segregation? It’s because black men gained voting rights before white women did. Slavery was obviously much worse for black people in America (because America was the first to treat black slaves as non-human) but if you look at how women and slightly more favored slaves were treated, it’s not at all that different.

Spend three hours with a five year old who keeps changing the rules to go fish because they don't want to lose and see if you maintain your sense of child-like wonder. Spend five hours in meetings where you're constantly talked over and every idea you have is ignored until a man repeats it and see if you dream of sitting on the couch with a baby spitting up on you. My father worked with me. He fed into their discussion. I haven’t looked at him the same way since. Stop pitting women against women. Stop pitting HUMANS AGAINST HUMANS. My partner and I had made friends with a married couple (man & woman) who are heavily into the tattoo scene. They were both tattooed all over, and most of the work was beautifully done. They asked us if we wanted to meet them at a local convention they were attending. I was fine until we realized it was a tattoo convention. I had horrible needle phobia then, too, and was a bit stressed out, but it was okay. Much of it was fascinating, the art was beautiful, and the technology of tattoo equipment was very engaging. Until I walked past a man tattooing another man's shoulder as I went by, I was looking right at them when the artist put down his tattoo gun and wiped the man's shoulder with a clean, white cloth. It came away red. My vision turned gray, then black, as I fainted on the spot. I have no aversion to blood. I thought I was handling the tattooing, but I was wrong. The stress from the needle phobia was just hiding, waiting for the stimulus that would break it free. The wiping blood off the shoulder was the proverbial straw breaking the camel's back, and it all cascaded down. I was fine a few minutes later. It turned out the convention had staff medics, who wandered the show floor, armed with first-aid kits, water, and ice packs. Sometimes they helped people getting tattoos, but the much larger number were attendees who didn't realize they were getting squicked out until they fainted. I wasn't the only one. I wasn't the only one _that hour._

That's such a good reversal honestly and a great example of how being a pickme doesn't grant as much privilege as pickmes think, cause they're encouraging and reinforcing exactly the system that oppresses them _in their own circle_ and won't really be treated as equals for being "different" (even if some of the people they're trying to appeal to may encourage them that they are different and special, the scapegoating of people like them and them by extension will affect them.

With the “Being a SAHM isn’t that hard!” person, soooo much of it depends on the individual kids and parents and how the strengths and weaknesses line up. These videos always hit me man. I used to be of the "not like other girls crowd!!" And looking back i do cringe at it, but also, that poor girl was hurting because she didnt understand why she felt wrong. Im glad to say now I'm doing better, I've realized things about myself that explain my feelings, and i hope these girls who say stuff like this find solidarity and solace in other things rather then bringing others down //Edit: spelling!

I think the difference was that, some of these girls are agreeing with political figures that wants to restrict a woman's body. They should be hated for it and shamed because they're supporting horrible men. But like if we're talking about the "I'm so better than her" type of pick me? I guess they're harmless, but at the end of the day, it's still wrong to create a stereotype of other women just so you can feel different from them. But the political type of pick me is much worse than the normal pick me in my opinion.

I have two cats. They can and do create absolute mayhem around the house and we just accept it. But if one of them started abusing the other, that would be a boundary - not to stop loving them, but to separate them. Fortunately as a bonded pair, they adore each other. I reckon the same applies to my children. If one of my kids ever brings home a dead body, I'll help them dispose of it, and if they want to tell me what happened, they'll do that when they're ready. But if one of my kids was abusing me or anyone else under my protection - which includes our cats and other non-human dependents - then yeah, that's a boundary. I'd still love them, but that behaviour would have to stop.

I'm a 50+ year old woman and I've NEVER thought about looking up any of the exes of any of the men I dated nor my husband. Why would I compare myself to someone he ISN'T in a relationship with anymore, especially if he DUMPED them? There's zero confidence in your own personality and looks if you're "stalking" their exes. They're the exes for a reason. I think the reason they're the exes is MORE important. I have an older sister who was always "looking for mr. right" with a whole laundry list of things she wanted him to be and to be for her. While I looked at each relationship, even a single date, as a learning experience of what I didn't want in a partner. I didn't think about how I'd "fix" him to fit my list. I wanted someone who made me happy just the way he was and who wanted me just the way I was (am). It's okay to change over time but you shouldn't expect people to change for you nor should you change everything about yourself to "please" others. You have to live with yourself and you shouldn't pretend to be something you're not. There's nothing wrong with changing IF you want to change but you shouldn't do it just because someone pressures you to do so. Be you and you'll find whomever you're meant to find. Or...worse come to worst...you end up alone but happy with who you are. My older sister always asked me if I was "lonely" before I had ever started datting as if the only thing in life was being in a relationship with a man. Again...her "knight in shining armor coming to save her". I told her that I couldn't "miss" something that I'd never experienced (I was 19) and she was surprised about how "profound" my statement was. There's a huge difference between being alone and being lonely. My sister often talked about a guy she went on one date with as "he's the one", especially if that guy had money. I often thought that she wasn't as "worldly" as she thought she was. It was annoying to hear about how great some guy was because he took her to a fancy restaurant and they had the s*x but then the same guy wouldn't call after even though she thought they'd really hit it off. I didn't know how to explain to my OLDER sister that he'd already gotten what he wanted from her. My sister's a beautiful woman and very extroverted but she was blind when it came to what men wanted from her. She had guys tripping over themselves to go out with her and sleep with her but she didn't have them tripping over her to be in their lives. She's a wonderful person but I have no idea how she acted on their dates to cause them not to ever call her again. When she saw my first boyfriend, she couldn't understand why someone as good looking as he was (he was a model) was with me. Yep...she literally said that. "Why's someone like him with you?" Ouch. She seemed shallow in that moment and I understood WHY none of the guys she dated wanted to stick around. In our old age...we've both settled down but she's been married and divorced and married again while I just went through my relationships learning from my experiences what I DIDN'T want in a relationship and what I didn't want my partner to be like (which is easier than..."he must fit this mold"). We've both been in these last relationships for a long time. Me over 22 years and hers right around 20 years. It's nice to know that she finally found her "knight" even though he didn't fit the mold that she'd made in her head of that "knight". Funny how life and love works itself out. If I hadn't have found my husband, I'd be just as happy by myself. Never forget that YOU need to feel happy with yourself first before you can feel happy with another. Sorry for the rambling. Love y'all. Blessed be from me and my witchy, Wiccan ways! Note: Sorry for the typos but I'm not going to reread and make corrections for my grammar and spelling! Thanks for reading and understanding.

Towards the end was one that made me think some people need a refresher: "a part" and "apart" aren't synonyms. In fact, they're antonyms. To be a part of something, you are with it, part of the whole. If you are apart from something, you are separated from it, not with it at all. I know this stems from the same place that causes people to spell "a lot" as "alot" (or "allot" if they go by their spellcheck, even though it's doesn't mean the same thing), so it's not likely to go away anytime soon, especially since so many people don't know if it's "your" or "you're", or the like. Just wanted to get this off my chest though, as sometimes I feel I've done my English degree a disservice by not mentioning such things, despite it being nowhere near the most egregious thing people featured in this video have done.

There's actually a myths busters episode on the whole losing your toes in steel toe capped boots thing and the conclusion was if it was bad enough for you to lose your toes with them on your whole foot would probably be left the consistency of toothpaste without them. Good quality steel toes consistently protected from all tested methods of damage. Can't say exactly for horses but they did put the boots in a hydraulic press and drop significant weights on them and compared it with regular boots. The regular boots were mush, the steel toes, while you'd probably have some bad broosing would otherwise be fine.

So far as I can tell, the whole "black coffee" thing pretty much boils down to how much people can tolerate bitter flavors. Even the best brewed black coffees have vastly more bitter notes than coffee with cream or sugar, and for those who are extremely sensitive to that kind of thing, masking it can do absolute wonders. The same thing goes for chocolate/cocoa, especially at 70% or higher, and some people who like high-cocoa bars don't like black coffee. 10:35 My theroy about older women being mean to young women: it's often jealousy. I am 42, and when I see a young woman, especially when she's having fun with her friends or something, I think, "God, to have those days back: or even that energy. Good for her. I hope she gets to have lots of fun like I did." So, I know there must be women out there who are like, "That was me once, and it should still be me! How dare you for existing and reminding me of my age and the fact that society deems older women less worthy because all I ever had to rely on was my looks!"

I mean personally 14 was the age when i liked creepypasta the most. And I feel like that's the age people usually get into it. I still like the characters, they're fun and cringey in a nostalgic way. I feel like writing a self insert fic is not that bad honestly, as long as you don't simp for real life killers. I've never personally been interested in that, but I am demiroace, so that's probbaly why.

I had a creepypasta phase when I was like 12 or 13, most kids of that age are super cringy I'll be honest. Personally i hated jeff but I've always knew that other fangirls weren't attracted to the actual image and story itself, but the art people made of an attractive alt guy, which wasn't a mainstream thing. I think it's important to understand that! young teens on the internet will always be into fanon-ized version of horror media, like how kids also like fnaf animatronics (even though theyre pieces of metal and corpses or something) but you can always draw them to be appealing, because it's fun. Then years later you'll grow up and realize a lot of the insane things like murder and serial killers are an actual thing, you become more critical of it, because you have a developed brain There's also creeps who are adults and like children though, yeah, but usually it's kids that like kids.

Where there is a big airpocket in their shell (generally due to hitting something like a boat) and it causes their rear end to always be on the surface of the water and their front end only able to be underwater. It is incredibly dangerous for turtles and other marinelife who deal with this. He was saying this as a lighthearted joke, but funnily enough, it is actually a real thing in animals *edited for grammar mistake

PSA: the "sober curious" movement is about approaching substance use with more nuance than an "abstainance only" way of thinking! There can be a lot of shame around struggles with addiction, and it's common for people to get stuck in a cycle of "I'm an addict, so I can't at all have this thing," to "I really want it, but I can't have it," to "okay, maybe I'll have a little," and then "well, if I'm screwing up anyway, I might as well binge," and around and around and around. Being sober curious comes more from the mindset of "I can drink if I want to, I just don't want to right now," which is a much gentler, more compassionate way of working with yourself around addiction.

Yeah, I think it comes from the fact that we are given the image in media etc that girls like pink and want babies and only think/talk of boys/clothes/make-up, but this trope isn't that frequent in real life. Most of us talk to other people and realize they're also 3 dimensional. The people who carry it longer in life just probs never make friends. And I would venture that there's an overlap with the political aspect because both growing out of that phase and accepting others imply empathizing with people they've decided are not like them.
@Moon_x_sun
@Moon_x_sun Ай бұрын
@ that’s true :) I also think some of the media of the 2000s and 2010s did a push to showcase those girls that aren’t like other girls and kinda pin them against each other like sharpay vs Gabriella where yes sharpay had dimension she was also very much a stereotype - where you get to see Gabriella from way more dimension. (Ofc they touch many subjects but that’s one I remember seeing in many movies growing up) the brunette loser vs blond popular girl yk. But I do think it’s a part of growing up going through that phase of realising others aren’t npcs in your life they’re just as fully ‘fleshed’ out as you And I think you’re right with those who might not grow out of it

About the SAHM thing, I am essentially a housewife to my fiance (we're both gay) and her dad. I'm disabled and can't really work anywhere without getting extremely burnt out. So i do my best to cook, clean, do laundry nd dishes, and make sure everything runs smoothly in the house. Even that is hard enough for me, I'm 26 and it takes it's toll. I need days off. Can't even imagine if I had a kid or two on top of all that, I would die from the stress. So if taking care of kids at home is 'easy' for one person, great, but it's definitely not easy in general and that shouldn't be projected onto other people. For me personally it's hard enough to take care of the home by itself. It kind of reminds me of how if you look up a tutorial on some program or software or something because you can't figure it out yourself, it irritates me to no end when the person making the tutorial is like "this is so easy guys! this is the most obvious thing in the world right here!" it's like buddy, people wouldn't be looking up a tutorial in the first place if it was THAT easy... it just reads as petty undermining and egotism. Everyone has different strengths and weaknesses and that fact shouldn't be discarded so someone can project their bias of how 'easy' something is, that other people often think is hard.

So here are some things that made me realize this: - my mom rarely complimented me, in fact she insulted me more by calling me either fat, lazy, or insinuating that I'm not "good enough". But the thing is, my mom is exactly the person that she calls me: she is unhealthy, doesn't do any physical activity, and loves to complain about anything - she can't stand to look the same: she hated when I bleached my hair blonde, because she is a blonde. She of course complimented me when I dyed my hair reddish brown again. Same happened with hair length: she can't stand to have shorter hair than me, and insults me if I suggest that she should get a new haircut. - she can't stand the fact that I am in a happy and healthy marriage. She always said that my husband isn't good enough for me because he was poor, and now when he has a decent job, she says that I can get someone with even more money than him. My mother and father are in a toxic marriage, but she only sees flaws in other marriages.
