The existence of man-free music festivals doesn't prevent men from attending integrated ones. And shutting down certain music festivals, reducing options, helps no-one. Discrimination laws are stupid.

If you reverse it, it's still the same concept - barring injury for someone based on their sex and gender, the things that are Beyond someone's control. It's not a changing room, it's a concert. It's discrimination. I agree that it’s silly, but I think the point was that there’s high levels of sexual assault at music festivals. Yes, men experience sexual assault too (usually by other men, statistically). I personally wouldn’t be offended by a “male only” event. Its a one off thing, I think it’s different from systemic discrimination. But yes I agree it’s kind of silly, but I understand the reasoning behind it.
@AmazingAutist Жыл бұрын
@@julibeanbag discrimination is still discrimination whether it is systemic or not. The issue of sexual assault is prevalent throughout Society but it is not so simple as just Banning someone because of factors beyond their control. Things like heightened security and campaigns to watch out for these things helps lower the instances of sexual assault along with a police presence. But this was not advertised as a way for women to be safe, nor is it likely that safety was ever on the mind. Like that restaurant that would charge men more for a meal then they would women, it's just discrimination. From my community, there is a huge problem where black people are very racist towards asians, Hispanics and white people but refused to acknowledge their racism because it's not systemic racism. "It's called prejudice, not racism" which 1. Is extremely gross to acknowledge that you are prejudiced against someone for factors beyond their control and you are just fine with it, and 2. Prejudice _based on race or ethnicity _*_IS_*_ racism!_ The same with sexism. Just because it's not systemic, does not make it not what it is.

@@julibeanbag If I recall correctly most people pretty much said: I get it, and women should absolutely feel safe during a music festival. It's just that their attempt at solving the problem wound up being a crime. But it wasn't much of a backlash situation, it was simply deemed to be illegal to try to solve the issue in that way. I mean, if people don't feel safe at a festival then that's a result of not enough security and not taking concerns seriously. They also could have had nearly the exact same result by simply putting up some rules of conduct that forbids touching, asking for numbers, and similar. Then just throw out the people who were creating a disturbance. Most who attended would be either women or allies in that case, with a heavy emphasis of female presenting people.

Considering what these people say is written in the Bible, and what is actually written in the Bible? I doubt many of them ever opened one at all, or came closer to it than sitting in the pews of their cult church while it was on the altar in the first place.
@bluestreaker9242 Жыл бұрын
@@theexchipmunk Not to mention there's far more than just one Bible. Though, in all fairness, what IS written is either written by opportunistic douche-hats, or people genuinely trying to teach good morals to live by, but either way has gone through so many translations and transliterations due in no small part to the fact that the original texts were written in a language no longer practiced. Would love to hear what most people think the original Christian symbol was, because I can tell you right now, it wasn't the cross (as a funny aside, the upside-down cross didn't start out as a symbol of Satanism and has a more respectable origin from my understanding ;3). Also for everyone who thinks Jesus was a Christian and a White dude, boy have I got some news... XD

When I used to go to church as a child I was one of those kids who barely payed attention. Also since the Christian figure known as Jesus was said to be a carpenter wouldn’t that mean he knew how to carve stuff with the needed hand tools?

That story keeps being misquoted anyway. The problem was that she spiraled psychologically in the end and only ate one type of fruit for a very long time before she died. Although I suppose technically I shouldn't psychoanalyse her, but it seems unlikely she was of sound mind when she decided to eat only a single fruit despite getting more and more ill. Think it was Durian fruits she ate. Restricting your diet and ensuring you don't miss what you need can be tricky, but it's generally doable if you really want to, but restricting it down to a single item is going to be the death of you, simple as that.

unfortunately for her, neither of those things are a tropical fruit - going on a plants only diet (beyond veganism, not even things like bread) is possible if managed correctly, although probably not optimal without taking supplements etc, but only eating fruit let alone only a tiny subsection of fruits isn't sustainable.

I assume because he thought the festival should qualify for a legal exception due to it being for only women being part of its core function - like if half a swimming pool's male cleaners quit within a month, it's generally accepted that it should be legal for the pool to try to hire specifically male cleaners so they have enough staff to keep the men's change rooms clean. or that it should be legal for a company that builds and installs staircases to refuse to hire a full time wheelchair user as an installer. I feel like there is definitely a way to run a music festival just for women that does not allow men to fit into that kind of reasonable legal exception. but there's also probably ways to run it that don't, and I suppose they missed the mark. or maybe such legal exceptions don't exist there. personally I would rather go to a music festival with a high ratio of security and attendee support/management personnel to attendees than to go to a women-only festival that still had too many opportunities for predators and assholes to do bad stuff and not get caught or face serious consequences. I'd rather be at a festival for feminists that included male feminists than an all-female festival that ultra-conservative/traditional women were welcomed. but I also haven't been groped, assaulted, raped etc by men or discriminated against for my gender in a serious way - I'm probably not the target audience for this kind of event. there probably are a lot of women out there who have had many awful things done to them by men and could never actually feel safe and enjoy themselves at an-all genders festival because of their past experiences and trauma.
