Pro tip; when tapping the tie rod or ball joint, tap the spindle where the bolts go through. Just don’t hit the threads👍 keep up the vids. You’ve helped me diagnose my mini a couple times. Anything I can do feel free to reach out

Also cause I just watched. I recently did my cv axle on my r53 and if you take that lower engine mount out you can get an extension and a socket on the top side of the axle to tighten that top carrier bearing bolt

A litle grease on the outboard splines keeps the splines from rusting and easier to get apart

Just replaced my axles on my 04 mini and I’m leaking from the area where the axle shaft goes into the transmission on the driver side. Could it be a bad axle seal? Wasn’t leaking before I replaced.

Wow that Mini looks brand new underneath. Looks like a breeze to work on. My ball joint is completely seized onto the knuckle. I've been trying to get it off for 2 days now and still no luck. Starting to think I'll need to do some 'surgery' with an angle grinder.

Did you take out the gearbox oil? ... Only asking because I did this on an R50 Cooper and oil pissed out everywhere as I had forgot to drain the box first, oooops!! ... So is the R53 different then?

If my passenger side just has a small hole that created a leak. Will I have to repair the boot or replace the whole axle. 2nd gen Mini s

You can change just the boot if nothing else is damaged but changing the axle is easier

I love my r50 more than my r56. R50 feels more raw, r56 is more comfy but takes away from the feeling of driving a go-kart
