Historically, the Indian subcontinent was, and still is, inhabited primarily by brown to dark-skinned people. But it was invaded by fair-skinned “Aryans” around 1500 B.C., who later set up the caste system in the Manusmriti (Laws of Manu). And India was later invaded by the Mughals in the 1500s A.D. by the Mughals, who were Muslim but were also fair-skinned. And then India was later colonized by the British in the 1800s, who were white and were able to exploit and codify these existing issues in India and South Asia. So in essence, being invaded by three different waves of “white” people psychologically colonized them and led to their issues today. People should read “Gulamgiri” by Jyotirao Phule, look up the activist BR Ambedkar, look up the “Dark Is Lovely” campaign, and look up the 5%er Supreme Understanding for more info on all this.

There was no Aryan invasion,most likely a migration from the steppes and the people you are talking about are Dravidians who themselves are mixed and have an arguably worse caste system, which was not brought on by "Aryans", in fact low caste people also have steppe ancestry. BTW, simple genetics shows that the people of Indus Valley Civilization were mostly Iranians not Dravidians,there is no evidence of a mass migration from North of India to South. The only difference between South and North is the amount of Steppe ancestry. There are different types of Indian - different castes tend to respond differently to black people and to eachother - I’ve never not been welcome and loved by Indian friends and their families but there does tend to be anti blackness and it extends to darker Indians too…

Unfortunately the people in this discussion are actually speaking about 2 different things i.e. they're taking across each other and not to each other. It got totally bogged down in semantics and never really got off the ground. People in the U.S. tend to see racism only through the lens of the U.S. experience and then assume the same rules apply when you look at situations outside the U.S. I find this a lot in these conversations and I'm a black man from the UK. India has one of the world's most ridged social hierarchical societies in the world. The caste called the 'untouchables' are the lowest of the low in Indian society - no chance of any social advancement because you are born into that caste. You can't change caste like you can't change 'class' in the U.S. You can't put U.S. society and Indian society side by side and judge them - it's such a false comparison like comparing apples and pears.

Their point is is that India has a more systematically racist system in terms of people within all castes being deemed as untouchables or "cheap coolies" because of their color and then color distinction being further associated with class. The Indian caste system can't be racist because it only applies to Indians i.e people of the same race. The system is discriminatory - yes highly so but not racist in the order sense of the word. You are very wrong when you say the caste system's ideological root are in British colonialism. It's ideological roots are in religion. Religions that predate British rule by thousands of years. Can't blame the caste system on the Brits...Also, the untouchables status is based on hereditary factors i.e. a family line of untouchables not on colour. You don't become an untouchable because you are dark skinned. Clearly. Look at the Tamil Hindu's, who are generally darker than the average black American. They are not all untouchables, they have all castes within their group including untouchables.

But can we at least agree that there is an outward colorist prejudice inside of India which has created discrimination not only for Black Americans and Africans, but for Inward Dark Skinned Indians experiencing discrimination. Plus, we can't just scrub How Britain influenced India's theories and preconceived notions of the African peoples being "cannibals" and "coolies" as well as the ingrained colorism that wasn't previously apart of Indian society before colonialism. Additionally, if India is not prepared to take in African students in which they cannot control their population's outward racism, xenophobia, and domestic violence leading into terrorism, why even offer other people's to study inside of India.

Historically, I don't know how much discrimination "India" has caused Black Americans, I mean over what period of time have Indians been in the US in any significant numbers; 20 years tops perhaps? Their numbers are not significant. As regards Indian views on Africans, are you talking about Indians in India or Indians who migrated to East Africa at Britain's request to do manual labour i.e build railroad etc? For the later group, yes, but for the former I'm not so sure. What interaction would they have had with Africans during British rule? The colourism was well ingrained long before British rule, as was the caste system. The Mughal Empire conquered parts of India from the mid 1500 long before British rule. Mughals were from present day Uzbekistan and the Ottoman Empire, which may have engrained colorism Mughal's being very light skinned (todays Iranian looking as comparison). The conquerors' always create a world in their own image. But not all of India came under Mughal rule. Did British rule highlight colourism more than already existed - I don't really know. Before you think of colour distinctions, you have religion, which is a far more significant basis that people identify and discriminate on. Hindu and Muslim, right? I didn't really understand your point about India 'taking in' African students in the sense that I am not aware of what the issue are. General comments if you go to another country to study, and choose India because it's cheaper, right, then you better do your research first and make sure its the right place for you. Can Indian govt control their population, err no. hence the reason to carefully vet which ever part of India you choose to study in. It's not govt inviting students in, it's educational establishments whose main concerns is getting fees, like all educational establishments. Educational establishments are not going to have the same standards of care for students as places in the US or Europe; that's just a fact, so you can't compare the two at all.

Africans have a single country they're connected to, whereas we're multi-generational mixed ppl with multiple African & multiple European ancestries. Some of us even have ties to the Indigenous population. My DNA alone links me to West, Central, & North Africa, as well as Northwestern Europe & the Pawnee ppl of Oklahoma. Got literal blood cousins on a rez out there. The biggest difference between us and them, they know their ancestral origins. Ours is pretty much in the States. let me divide Indian mentality (THOSE LIVING IN INDIA) here into 3 categories regarding black people and what they think of them 1) who interacted with them:(to be noted they are fewer in number since African people are like a minority in India around 10-15 percent) Fun fact India has some African tribes you can find them they are known as Siddis so going to the main point here they are seen as hard-working and good in sport. I mean really good. Mostly good nature folks 2}who never interacted with them but are not racist (around 80-85): they will not shy away from them and are not racist. Maybe some of them will be afraid of them as there are some stereotypes in India as well. like they are cannibals. they caught you for forced sex. they sell drugs. are in prostitution so many people will just shy away or be too afraid to approach them. 3}them comes last (these guys are racist ): may be due to the above stereotypes or just to show off that they degrade someone or to show that they are cool (mostly this downgrade other to show that you are cool is seen in Indian friendships but here it can be to show off to your friends or to show that he is alpha as black are known for there physical body ) hopefully, this clears up some doubts.
