I just did the Saturday and Sunday there it was in the 90s with heat index of 100. It did storm Sunday and 1 hour delayed. This weekend gave me my trifecta and this is one hard race

Congrats and respect, always a tough course and the weather was a challenge this year.

I did the trail last year! Really fun to fly down the switchbacks in the second half. It made the climb up in the beginning worth it.
@tomk77774 ай бұрын
Well, apparently they did it backward this year. The switchbacks were the way up and the technical downhill was the second half. My legs were a little trashed from Saturday and the downhill was a challenge, but we all know this going in. Great job on the race last year. I look forward to seeing you out there sometime.

brought my wife here for her first ever Spartan race (sprint) on Saturday. I have done this location before and this year lived up to the reputation. Starting the Sprint at 1215 wave defiantly added to the suck this year with the heat, I still love the challenge here and we will be back next year.
@OCRKings4 ай бұрын
Excellent! Hope she as well as you had a great time out there. We heard the heat was next level, and added to the difficulty of an already difficult venue. Palmerton is no joke, and seemed to certainly live up to its reputation this year.

Palmerton does NOT disappoint! Always been a tough venue, almost legendary as far as the Super goes and those hills.

About Ape Hanger… It made an appearance in Asheville Super last year; it was the “simplified” version with no rope or water. It’s going to be in Utah this weekend!

This was a great even. First time at Palmerton. Ran trail race with my son and daughter. It is definitely very technical in parts.

Excellent, glad you all had a great event out there at Palmerton!

OCR Kings your content is phenomenal! Keep it up! This is my first season of Spartan Racing. The Palmerton Super and the Bethel Sprint were full of surprises. I trail run 30 to 40 miles a week and do rigorous push/pull/leg strength training weekly, let me tell ya, the Palmerton Beast kicked my @$$. I'm a fairly small guy, a steel bean pole, about 6ft @ 143 lbs. The sandbag carry obliterated me! My heart rate was screaming into high anaerobic. The 3 mile point death march up the steep trail was also harder than I expected. The Killington Beast awaits! Now I know what to expect, and how to train! Trifecta time! Aroo!

THANK YOU!! And we knew Palmerton was going to be tough, but this year, seems like it not only lived up to its reputation, but exceeded it with the heat and the carries uphill. Way to hang tough my friend. And good luck at Killington! I think Palmerton is a great way to prep for VT. That Death March is the biggest/longest thing they have there. Pace yourself and just keep going on that thing. AROO!

I ran in the open wave Sunday the 14th and it was my first ever race, this was literally the hardest thing I have ever done in my life! We made it to the top by the time we got to the water station, everything got shut down for thunderstorms.. we hiked our way down the trails in the rain and thunder (was very sketchy!) then they let us go back up when they re-opened and I felt like it would be a waist if I didn’t go back up so I went back up did the obstacles 15 out of 20 completed and worked my way back down! Was the most rewarding thing I have ever done in my life! I already registered for a super for 2025 in Palmerton to try and get the trifecta! Also would love to add that al the other racers that were so encouraging and helpful along the way were just amazing! Between everyone helping each other trying to get down in the rain, I helped a few out who weren’t feeling to good so I gave them some mustard and snacks and energy gel to help, to the men and women helping talk me through some of the obstacles when I was getting nervous, even to the photographers and staff cheering everyone on along the way! Amazing group of men and women and I’m so proud to be apart of them all!

Incredible effort, congrats! You picked a great intro, Palmeton is always tough in the best conditions and this weekend was humid. Great job not getting discouraged by the conditions. The great thing about the open division is the camaraderie and how everyone pulls together. Way to get it done, respect.

I did a timed heat on Saturday and that was a mistake- It took me 4 hours to finish the “10K” which was really over 8.3 miles. I was not prepared for the over 3100 foot elevation and normally I just wear my normal running shoes but for this event… Big mistake. My ACICS running shoes fell apart by mile 2 and I spent the entire race slipping and sliding and tripping and falling over. This was the hardest thing I ever did and I’ve been doing Tough Mudder since 2017 and I had some rough courses there too. Nothing like this though.
@tomk77774 ай бұрын
Congrats on getting it done, great effort. I am pretty sure Spartan doesn't count the obstacles as mileage, so long sandbags and the bucket carry weren't there. or penalty loops (if you did any). If you can finish Palmerton you can do any Super on the schedule and many of the Beasts. Great work out there, tough course, and a hot day.

@@OCRKings Yeah the rubber started breaking off the bottom. At one point I heard the flapping. They survived the race but I retired them after I finished and ordered a new pair of Brooks I got this week.

Nice. Love getting new shoes. Got a new pair of Asics coming myself next week. They're for the road, so won't be for Spartan, but still love getting and testing new gear. Hope your new pair of Brooks work great for you.
