Haha. Yeah carpets just never seem to get 100% clean. I can think they are perfect, then return a minute later and there is magically more stuff that requires vacuuming. It's like a cruel joke. RΔD GΔRΔGE yeah unfortunately I do have a little rust forming at the driver side door at the bottom close to the valance and the wheel arch. Poor design on VW for water and drain location. I keep it touched up with some special United Grey Spray paint I found online. It’s color matched to my paint code. Got one little rust spec on my hatch by VW logo, but it’s super small like a ball point pin tip size. Otherwise all is good. Keep up the good work, loved the video, watched it from start to finish.

No iron remover. I just didn't see the need. I only use Iron-X on cars that spend a lot of time in heavy traffic. This car was coated a year ago and basically sat there. I been washing my own car since 2015. Never went to car wash. I pre rinse my cars and wash off then snow foam using CG honey dew snow foam and then follow with clay bar if needed. I use same soapy water that use for car wash to clay. Save on clay lube or detail spray the follow with polish using CG polisher with meguair ultimate polish and then wipe with IPA and use seal&shine. Gets so much gloss and protection.

Steam wasn't able to loosen all the salt unfortunately. I think there comes a time when that salt just becomes impossible to remove. Because the owner graciously let me have the car for three days, I was able to show a lot of the process, but you'd be surprised how much of the process didn't find its way into the video. Sometimes, it is just too complicated to position the camera so I just do the work "off camera". Take care, Mike.

At 24:14 I spotted a german license plate on the wall. Not sure if you know but its from the city of Essen which is located in the Ruhr Industrial Area in North Rhine Westphalia or as we call it Ruhrpott. Essen is famous for its football team (Rot-Weiss Essen), its beer (Stauder Pils) and of course like all cities of the Ruhrpott its former coal and steel industry which played a huge role in the development of Germanys economy and wealth after WW2. Just wanted to give you a little background to this ordinary rather unspecial license plate that I see hundreds of every day. Great job by the way. Keep it up! Yes, I am hearing that from many in the VW community. Plus, Ontario is wet and salty all winter, so this winter driven car had the odds stacked against it.
@Martymartinio
@Martymartinio 4 жыл бұрын
@@RADGarage I live in the UK and have a MK5 R32. The rust is pretty much in the same areas as yours. What I've never understood is why VW never replaced the arch panels with plastic rather than metal, as even with a respray it only takes one stone to hit the inner archer and your are back to square 1! I am thinking about getting the underside treated with a rust treatment then sealed by a specialist company, as we suffer from salty roads here as well in the winter. Really like the end result! I want to do similar to mine as it's red, just to bring back that proper red and not the pink that is starting to come through. Just need to sort a few mechanical issues first though...
