Praise God for this video. I pulled up at church turn off my Yukon and the fans kept running. Mine didn’t have the check engine light, but after the battery cable got taken off, the fans turned off. After church I started the vehicle up and everything was back to normal. At least now I know if it messes up again for sure I’m gonna need the temperature sensor. I was so worried that something bad was going to be wrong. Thank you so much again for this video.

Great video! 2015 Escalade 6.2L: I disconnected the negative battery terminal and installed the new engine coolant temp sensor. Didn't disconnect the radiator hose and spilled a bit of coolant on the garage floor, but not too much. Reconnected the battery. Fired up the 6.2L V8 and as hoped the fan no longer ran on high speed and the AC started blowing cold again. The OAT display in the cockpit read an erroneous 32 degrees with the associated warning about "Possible Icey Roads". No way to reset this in the Escalade, but after 8 hours + the temp recalibrated on it's own to the correct OAT. My local mechanic wanted $500+ for this repair! Great job and thnx again!

The thermostat can also cause the temp to be below 160 degrees and cause the fans to come on. FYI for the future. Mine also showed 32 degrees on the dash and ice warnings kzbin.info/www/bejne/l3bJmJ6ujMl1j9ksi=a5nWCQ_LiolhJ0ow

The thermostat can also cause it to happen when they fail and stick open. The engine is running cool so it also triggers the fans. If it continues, see the thermostat video kzbin.info/www/bejne/l3bJmJ6ujMl1j9ksi=zrnnrLbPG0i3a3M3

I have a 2016 Denali and have been dealing with this issue for the last 2 winters. It only does it when the weather is cold. When my fan doesn’t cut off, I turn my car off, let the engine cool for a bit or overnight and then I take it down the road and floor it and hold the pedal down until I get the RPM’s all the way up and my speed as high and as fast as I can get it and the fan will automatically shut off while I’m driving. Then I just let off the pedal and go back to normal driving. This works every time. We replaced the thermostat and the sensor 2 years ago when it first happened, but it still kept staying on so instead of disconnecting the battery so often to reset it, I found a way that I don’t have to anymore.

Changing the sensor did no good on mine. What did fix it was disconnecting the battery for one minute - this reset the computer and resolved the issue. so, any of you who have this issue - before replacing the sensor, remove the positive cable from the battery for a minute and then reconnect it. This may very well resolve your issue. An auto parts employee told me that cold weather sometimes affects the ECM and this many times will correct it.

It could also be a temp sensor but usually it’s a bad thermostat causing the car to run too cool. This sets a code in the computer. The computer then turns on the fan on high and turns off the ac. All in an attempt to keep the car from overheating. Replace the thermostat and erase the code. This will fix your problem.

I replaced my sensor, thermostat, temperature relay, and replaced the ECM (which was supposedly set to my truck's VIN and tried the key learn steps but would not work), and still the fan issue continues. I pressure tested the system and vacuum filled it (should not have any air locks). My 2016, 5.3 Silverado truck would not turn over with the replacement ECM, the check engine flashed, even though the security anti-theft lights went out, but it again started with the old ECM. With the original ECM the brakes and stability warning lights frequently comes on as does the check engine light, but it starts. It took 8-10 days to get the replacement, pre-programmed ECM. When left connected to the battery, the system drains the battery. I would appreciate any help or suggestions given.

Had this happen in the 17 Tahoe. Rained real hard one day as we were driving. Then the fans come one while driving and stay on when motor is off. The fans would not turn off. So I trick the system by starting the motor and immediately turning it off. It turns the fan off every time like that. But as soon as you turn the engine back on the fans run constantly again. Did this for like a week and then they stop running constantly on their own. Then one rainy day it happens again. Maybe a coincidence. Haven’t fixed it yet because ATM the motor is down to the block, fixing the lifters and cam. I will change the thermostat and sensor while I do the pump. Should fix it. Also had to replace the transmission after 130k miles. Car companies are making junk. Designs only last as long as the warranty. Car companies = parts/service companies. @Danny Johnson’s Garage I replaced the engine coolant temperature sensor and so far everything is back to normal. Thank you very much for the video.

So I replaced the coolant engine sensor in my 2015 Tahoe 4 weeks ago. I thought everything was all good but now the same problem is happening.

The thermostat can also cause the fan to run if it is stuck open and over-cooling the engine kzbin.info/www/bejne/l3bJmJ6ujMl1j9ksi=ZGLk4TNu19cxP4X7

Dont even touch the sensor, just replace the thermostat.

I agree. It’s cheaper to try just the temp sensor but most cases I believe you are right and it’s the thermostat in the first place kzbin.info/www/bejne/l3bJmJ6ujMl1j9ksi=wGfq1wjrxll8IUpa

@@dannyjohnsonsgarage both parts are cheap, I replaced sensor first and still same problem. It was always the thermostat. Great video.

I would suggest the temp sensor and the thermostat kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZ6td2iChpiihtUsi=7F_HT9M5NqOkpcVW

UNPLUG NEGATIVE! Even after replacing sensor it still had an issue. Unplugging negative terminal for 5-10 mins solved it (as others here commented).

It will reset it but if the thermostat is stuck open it will come back

It could be something else, but it’s usually the thermostat and or temp sensor kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZ6td2iChpiihtUsi=XJ-7IV4571T34iIF

Did you remove negative side of battery? I just replaced both sensor and thermostat and turned vehicle on. Still was reading low temp and fans were still on after I turned vehicle off. Unplugged negative for 10 minutes and now working properly

@@andreamassingill6132 When the engine has been running for 10 minutes, does it show cold on the temp gauge?

Think I'll just blow up my 2017 chevy colorado, you literally have to take the engine apart to change the sensor out.
