As a disabled person, I don’t know that I agree with the idea that not healing her is empowering. If there was a way to heal me, I would take it. Being disabled doesn’t make me worth less than other people. But it makes me not able to do normal tasks like walking. I want society to see me as a person who has value for who I am. But also want science to keep moving toward a cure. Denying my struggles as being a problem feels unauthentic to me.

My uncle has been wheelchair-bound for decades and still has dreams of walking despite having enough medals and trophies to fill a room for things he did after becoming wheelchair-bound. For almost the first decade and a half of my life, walking was painful. My feet were misshapen. It was like having needles and knives driven into my feet as I was forced to keep up with everyone else. My pain tolerance as a result is very high. You bet I jumped on getting that fixed. It's almost like people fetishize our pain and pat themselves on the back for pretending to uplift us. We can make do. We can do great things still. But if someone thinks we want to be in a position of pain, or unable to do things that they can do, they should seriously check their privelege.

This is the first comment I have seen where someone doesn't agree with nessarose not being "cured" in the movie version. The second part of this story should stay true to the musical. It was a powerful second half and people deserve to see this. I saw this on broadway and left the first part with raw emotions that prepared me for that raw second half. Don't soften it. Don't sugarcoat it. Let the audience feel this powerful ending.

I can't wait to see how they do "As long as you're mine" & "Wonderful". The point of the shoe enchantment is to emphasize further that characters are human and have duality/different motives. Elphaba doesn't try to "fix" her sister, she does it at Nessa's request. Elphaba knows her powers are intense and unrefined but she finds herself unable to resist helping her sister and being close to her mother's beloved keepsake. I hope the Nessa change doesn't alter the spirit of the over all lesson.

As a disabled woman who has Cerebral Palsy and have to use a communication device every day, if there was a way to regrow the damaged part of speech center my brain, I would take it. I'm just glad that John M. Chu and Universal Studios hired a true wheelchair user actress to play Nessarose. My biggest pet peeve is when movie studios and directors hire nondisabled people (no offense) to play a character with a disability.

One consequence I most want to see in Wicked Part 2 is that the Wizard and Madam Morrible should be exposed to all of Oz as the frauds they are so that Elphaba's name and character can be publicly cleared. After all, since the producers of Wicked Part 1 went to so much trouble making Elphaba such a relatable character in the movie, they should by rights give her a happy ending at the end of Wicked Part 2 - even if it has to be in a "when all is lost, then all is found" situation. As this video's narrator applie said, "This is Hollywood!"

they would have to something similar to Les Mis. the musical is a very watered down version of the book, but they also have Les Mis movies that are not the musical. there is too much different about the musical for them to suddenly make Son of a Witch. they'd have to start at the beginning, and retell Wicked with Fiyero actually dying, him having a bastard child with Elphaba and Elphaba taking his wife and kids under her wing, etc.

My burning question is how will they resolve the Elphie can/ can’t read the Grimmerie. In the stage version she cannot which is why things go haywire with the spelling -the song No Good is partially based on that fact. “I don’t even know what I’m reading.” But in the movie she reads from it well.

since they show the friends in the trailers and them heading back to the Emerald City there should show more of the friends and Dorothy, the prologue in the book shows the group gossiping about her while Elphaba spies on them behind a tree, and tries to see both how innocent Dorothy is and the Shoes. If they are going to give a different retelling of the wizard of Oz there should be more of Dorothy. The Brazilian production shows the house fall and Dorothy step out, and Glinda sending her on her way to the Emerald City, then we see the Scarecrow, Tin Man, Lion free Dorothy and Toto from the cellar, Elphaba and the monkeys capture them, and she lights up the broom like in the film, Dorothy throws the water and she melts. We see Glinda watch off to the side as the group laugh and take the broom back to the Wizard. Not having Dorothy in act two as a character in my opinion hurt the second act since it was the wizard of Oz but told differently. And for the people that said who cares what I think, well this story is an AMERICAN STORY, AMERICAN FAIRY TALE, and Americans don't remove or change Alice in Wonderland, or Peter Pan, or Oliver or Robin Hood to be in America cause that's just stupid, yet London uses mostly Brits for an American fairy tale that started as American, and then wicked was written by an American yet again. I have a right to want American accents in an American fairy Tale.

I mean, we had a production last year for Into The Woods, but we all used our normal Aussie accents. Some stories, particularly fantasy stories, can be told in any accent without breaking immersion, but if there's specific locations that appear as the setting, or in passing dialogue, then it makes sense to stick to that for the sake of Immersion. That said, we also have Les Mis, with all English accents for a French play, so it's more of a case by case basis.

to the people that say Nessarose fixed walking spell was not given to her by her sister in the original book. Glinda does a repair and binding spell on them to help her stand up straight and not teeter so much when she walked due to in the book she had no arms. When she and Elphaba get into their argument over the shoes in the book, Glinda throws the fact that she had to become Nessarose friend and helper and she felt she had more right's to give the shoe's to Dorothy and not Elphaba. The fact that people are attacking the show for abilising is ridiculous, and what's wrong with having what is going on in the real world in a fantasy story. Just leave the movie characters and show alone. My big pet peeve is that they turn the Scarecrow, and Tin Woodman into Boq and Fiyaro, which doesn't happen in the original book.

If part two goes woke it will go broke unfortunately part one was very good. Very close to the theater production. There is no issue that human beings, no matter what the disabilities is are whole and wonderful however the Nessarose character is made to walk when her silver slippers are turned, ruby by Elphaba Boq it’s about to leave because she doesn’t need him anymore and he’s only staying with her because she cannot walk. Nessrose when Desperate to make him love her, tries to use Elphaba's spell book, the Grimmerie, but her enchantment goes wrong and she shrinks his heart. To save him, Elphaba turns him into a man made of tin so he can survive without a heart. If you take this out of the story, there’s no reason to make him a tin man.
