My favourite song of all time, as it has been for over 25 years. For me, it's musical perfection. I've told my family many times over the years that I want this playing at my funeral. Even though the song in its nature is quite downbeat, Thom's falsetto "you'll know where you are" always gives me hope that one day life, and our purpose, will all make sense to us.

Being let down by people who you think are your friends, but who lead you into doing things that can damage you are the worst. Forever loving Radiohead ... 😊

This is my favorite sad song. I mean, it's about a monotonous life but your soul is not comfortable with that and is screaming despair and depression

This song hits different after listening to Exit Music (For a Film). Exit Music track is so much darker that Let Down its actually uplifting ironically.

Its soaring, building orchestration across the arrangement of the song is impossible not to get swept up in. Undeniably uplifting ❤

😂 Sometimes Brad, I think you are an android 😅 The trouble you have identifying the meaning/emotion behind lyrics 😂 you need your interpreter Lex 😅

Everyone interprets song differently, but this is clearly a metaphor for breaking away from one life, one where you have been trodden on, abused, struggling, etc and starting fresh in a new life. The metaphor being a butterfly I assume, “chemical reaction”, growing wings, flying away from it all. It even has a line like “don’t get sentimental”, suggesting the old life is not worth those thoughts. One of my favourites off this album. Crushed “like” a bug, like, not in reality! The song is nothing to do with bugs!

Sometimes you just need to sit back and enjoy the music instead of focusing so much on the lyrics, you are missing out on the magic.

My favorite song from my favorite artist... very glad you finally got to hear this one Brad. A perfect encapsulation of the monotony of life and the disappointment it can so often bring, but with a finish that, despite it all, can't help but raise your spirits somewhat. The instrumentation, the vocals, the lyrics all combine so well on its own, and in terms of the album, the transition from Exit Music (for a Film) --> Let Down --> Karma Police is one of my favorite strings ever. Now you just have to post the Weird Fishes reaction! If Let Down's my favorite, Weird Fishes is definitely second. 😁

Radiohead are well known for writing about bugs, worms and moths. On one of Thom's solo projects he wrote a song from the perspective of a spider called 'Last I Heard (...He Was Circling the Drain)'.

Brad is an extremely understanding person who gets things differently than you do. Radiohead’s music and other music is not as cut and dry as maybe even you would think. Many metaphors have multiple meanings and uses. Sometimes the words just fit after the song is written… gotta get the syllables right and everything else… I can appreciate Brad’s interpretation greatly as well as another person who says something completely different.

Pedro the lion ( David bazan) does an amazing version of this song, honestly really feels like Pedro the lion could have written this song in their “control” days you can really hear Thom Yorkes influence on bazan in this track especially including the very bleak lyrics with a hint of hope in them a learned lyrical melancholy if you will
