I've been debating on getting this radio for so long, but someone suggested that I get the Jumper T16. I should've given Radiomasters T16 a try...it looks promising! I did purchase the Radiomaster TX, which is on the way in the mail. I'm pretty happy with my Carbon Jumper T16 v2..I hope both Radiomasters products are as good as the Jumper brand....thanks for sharing!

Thank you for your outstanding analysis of all RC products. I wrote to you previously about the reasons for choosing a QX7 / S or Jumper products because for years, thanks to your fine instruction videos, the X9D Plus has been respectively a flawless radio ( within human standards ) but the deal breaker for NOT purchasing the other radios is I can't use Companion. You caused me to become addicted to Companion. I can't live without it. Now, if this radio will be able to run companion, then I will purchase one and have both platforms. I have decided to skip the Jumper T16 / Pro all together. Once again, thank you for all your hard work and dedication. Paul ( sasdthoh )

I'll cover that with copying models and updating firmware in a video. As this is a cousin of two radios already supported by OpenTX the barriers to support have been a lot lower from what I can see...

Can this radio simultaneously connect with the Tx/Rx and put out the USB gameport or trainer student cord signals? I need to be able to switch between the FC using the radio signals and use MAVlink upload via G4/LTE (UAVcast on the RPi companion computer). Currently I am using an old Hitec Eclipse 7 with 2.4 module, and the GS connected via the trainer port (PPM output) with a PPM to USB dongle, with both signals working simultaneusly. This works in my living room, but obviously a more modern setup is preferable, including better Tx -Rx than 2.4 and providing direct radio telemetry in addition to the LTE/MAVlink. My nicer (but still old) Aurora 9 does not allow simultaneous module and trainer port use. I could steal the PPM output to the module, but is the PPM signal sufficiently buffered to drive both the PPM to USB dongle and the Tx module? I wonder whether OpenTX (and the GS software) could be configured to switch between GS/MAVlink "Joystick" control or Rx control (SBUS /PPM) ? This would make everything controllable from the handset without using the mouse and GS computer screen to switch between "Joystick" and "radio" using QGC or MP (developing with both). My intention is to have the radio and GS computer with screen on the same neck strap supported tray.

Thanks for the early review of the TX16s, very very interesting. I've been flying RC planes for about 7 years but only consider myself to be only an intermediate RC flyer. Looking to upgrade my Spektrum DX7S transmitter with a new Spektrum iX12 touch screen but fell over when I saw the USD700 price tag! However, if you take price out of the equation (because I'll probably have this new transmitter for a few years) would you recommend the TX16S with MicroTX over the Spek iX12? What worries me is that I'm used to the Spektrum and it appears comparatively simple (although the iX12 is quite a technology upgrade) & I may find the TX16S a bit daunting with its complexity. I noticed your earlier "go to" transmitter was a Spektrum DX7 so moving from Spektrum platform from functionality, quality, and ease of use perspectives (forgetting price) which would you recommend?

The DX7 was about 6 years ago and a lot has changed then. Check out the OpenTX MiX School that starts simply for pilots coming from Spektrum (like I did)... Best of luck!

Painless, you first touted the manic wonders of the Jumper T16 then a new and improved Jumper T16 Pro V2 came out and that became the new benchmark. Low and behold, Radiomaster T16S is released and now appears to have raised the bar even higher. Given two great new and affordable radios, do you plan on doing a comparative showdown or do you already have a preference?
@Painless3604 жыл бұрын
There was a very good reason that I stopped videos on the T16 and all the different versions - as I cover in the video. Later versions seem to be a lot better as they got the teething troubles sorted but by then so many of the first wave of customers with the original had been left with broken, unreliable or outdated radios. Mine still has issues thanks to the ribbon cable construction (see other posts). This one looks like it fixes all of those weak-points with the exception of the stubby sliders on the shoulders... The Jumper T18 should be interesting to look at to see what was learnt from the last 18 months..

It's kinda nice that the radio doesn't have those weird gimbal adjustment screws the T16 had, it was kind of a weird feature, and it was just another failpoint. I kinda feel like I shoulda waited on my T16, but still, the same thing happened when I bought my DX6. Immediately I had regrets that I didn't get a taranis or a DX6e that had just released but honestly beating myself up over it isn't gonna do anything. I didn't know anything about the newer radios when I bought mine, and at the time it was the right decision. Still feels bad though knowing the TX16S is cheaper than the top-tier T16 I own.

There have been some early renderings where the logos and silver buttons below the gimbal were blacked or greyed out, which in my opinion was it look a lot nicer. Do I need to get the Crossfire version to be able to use my module or can I save a few bucks and get the mid price unit?
@GBoniFPV4 жыл бұрын
You can use the module bay for whatever module you have. Any JR based module will work. No, you don't have to buy the crossfire one. Specifically if you already own one.

Could you check if it has spare inputs inside to facilitate adding more switches, like the X9E radios have. Thx

Can you make a screen widgets setup video.. I can't get the proper voltage to show on the battery just bars but the voltage shows 0.0. Seems there is a lot cool stuff you can do with the screen layout.
