I love Zack's voice, It's quintessentially rebellious. He could go in the complete opposite direction lyrically and it would still be like he's screaming "fuck you" with that voice
@ben1ben2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. He still has his spirit and his anger. Unlike Serj Tankian from System of a Down. I feel like he doesn't care about his own messages anymore. Because his performances nowadays look like he doesn't try to convince anyone anymore. He just sings with his new technique and it sounds awful. If he fr cared about it that much he should learn how to do metalcore screams, and just use these for the parts with heavy vocals. Serj says that his singing reflects his aging or whatever the fuck, basically ''I'm not a young teenager that screams in peoples faces anymore'', yet it is important for serious topics and conviction. He also says if he would still sing and scream like his younger days it would be ''artistically redundant'', forget artistry, with the messages they are trying to put out to the world, that shit doesn't matter. I just had to rant about this lol. Because a true fighter doesn't lose his will to do the right, and Zack is definitely one.

@@ben1ben Maybe Serj's voice isn't as strong as Zack's and he's older and his singing style doesn't lend itself as much to decades of strain? I love Zack too but I respect an artist's right to age and I don't make a claim on him or own him or his technique. The medium is not the message when it comes to music. OG protest songs were acoustics. Get over yourself you're not entitled to any man's voice, what you're talking about is literally how singers end up losing their ability to sing for life...Respecting other people's autonomy is metal, which you are not. That's a sign they're legit musicians , true artists, and more than likely perfectionists. With many of the great live bands, not only do they sound as good as their studio releases, they'll often sound BETTER live. A perfect example is AC/DC's 1977 performance in London. Compare any song they performed on that set list, and live version destroys the studio one.

@@aiyaemotionaldamage5544 Rage had huge political power as a band. But they failed their ideology and, for all intents and purposes, sold out. Zack, being a man of considerable integrity and intelligence, realized this and left the band. I’m sure that, effectively, the other individuals in the band didn’t feel the same way. It was probably way too much of a risk for them to keep pushing the envelope with regard to the US government. Was it too much of a risk for Zack as well? Idk. But this is, ultimately, where they failed to “go all the way.” They weren’t willing to be relentless in their pursuit of change. Weren’t willing to face personal and financial ruin and the wrath of a media machine geared to push Washington’s agenda exclusively. I don’t blame them at all. Look at what happened to John Lennon. Lennon’s assassination aside (the official story of which has a few dubious aspects, but could just as easily have been the result of a single damaged psyche and nothing more), look at the way he was treated by the US government as a result of his political agenda. Constant fear, blackmail, harassment, death threats, etc. I don’t blame any man, especially a family man, for wanting to protect the things that are precious to them. Life is short and death is inevitable.

You can still be communist and be rich. Communism just makes it so that everyone has an equal opportunity to be rich. Contrary to popular belief, capitalism doesn’t do this. It just forcefully oppresses the poor, because the bourgeoisie need to keep making money. In capitalism, only the rich can get richer. Communism allows people to start anew, everyone. Everyone has an equal chance and no one can stop someone from taking advantage of that chance. Alternatively, taking advantage of the chance won’t allow you to oppress someone.
@lilamphibian78125 жыл бұрын
TheElephant Not true, in America the poor are getting richer faster than the rich are getting wealthier, there is no successful communist/socialist country in the entire history of the world. In a capitalist society especially an extreme free market society, everyone has the chance to become as wealthy as they wish as long as they aren't a lazy sack of shit, I love RATM but communism is a massive lie, oh and one last thing.....Karl Marx was a lazy Anti Semite piece of shit, have a nice day!👍
@pat84375 жыл бұрын
High Aleks You bring up a good point. Communism, or most communist and leftist political theories fail to address the issue of a rising middle class. Unfortunately for capitalism, at least some do and those have already been implemented in Scandinavia, Southern India, and regions of South Africa. All of these countries are successful socialist or communist countries. And that’s not even mentioning the success of Zack’s favorite group EZLN, who have made a successful commune in Chiapas. Unfortunately, capitalism does not allow the poor to be rich. It may allow for some people to climb the ladder due to the necessity of their skills, but the most often case is that the poor stay poor. If it were true that capitalism allowed for success, then coal miners and oil workers wouldn’t still be working when they’re 50. They work hard, my friends and family being examples. But they never climb the ladder. As for the rich not getting richer, it may not be in terms of classes, but the rich still get paid 85% + of the wealth. Lastly, the wealth distribution, per capita, of each class is vastly off and thus they can’t be compared. Most mobility in the US is in the middle and lower classes. Unfortunately, the wealth still isn’t.
@lilamphibian78125 жыл бұрын
TheElephant Capitalism does allow the poor to get rich it just takes time and effort, my moms side of the family is a great example of that, when they moved from Scotland to the U.S they went from extremely poor to very well off for the time. The problem again with socialism is that is has all the problems you mentioned about capitalism but on a much worse scale, I wouldn't consider anywhere in Scandinavia to be socialist especially in Sweden which I assume Is what your talking about (if not which country are you taking about?) and most of those areas in South Africa and southern India I wouldn't consider "Successful" either. Our current system we have in the U.S needs to be adjusted I agree, if we moved it to a more free market society it would allow for more profit and less bullshit Taxing that steals the hard earned cash of Americans, The reason most of the people who are poor are that way is because of bad decisions like having far too many kids than you can afford to have, spending your money on useless shit and so on, other reasons are because some people don't have the required skills to make it "rich" but that's the way it should be IMO. Most people in the U.S are in the 1% of the entire world even the poor in the U.S are better off than 90% of the rest of the world. This isn't really a part of the same argument but most modern socialists are completely ignorant to how basic economics works, if we pay McDonalds employees $15 an hour to flip burgers those burgers double in price, its another reason why socialism won't work.

I love such an honest interpretation of this song. You got everything they were on about. They are very talented musicians who express what needs to be told. Great work buddy. Subscribed

The solo is so crazy and distorted but yet so chilling, this song is chill after chill, killer verses, killer guitar, killer bass, killer drums, just one of the best bands of all time

It's amazing how good they sound live. Especially when the music they wrote is almost impossible to do live without sounding sloppy.

Saw them twice so far....first in Manila in '97, and in Red Rocks Colorado in 2000, I absolutely would love a third mind-blowing and mindset-changing experience.
