What a lovely table! Dunno if this will help but I’ve found as I get older if I’m going to be doing a lot of heavy lifting that stretching either before or afterwards (or both, if you have time) really helps with fatigue and tightness. Maybe it’ll help you in the future after working in your shop!

Great job again , lovely looking table . When you squared your timber up by hand plane first you could have just done that on the jointer to save some time . I was a wood machinist for 10 years but I still love watching your channel. Keep up the good work 🖒

I see what you mean. If my planer was set up permanently I would use it a lot more but it’s a pain to get it out and set it up so the hand plane usually works out as the quicker option (and I can be lazy!)

Very nice table Keith! I also use a rubber stamp to place my makers mark on my projects. To keep the image clear I put down my first coat of finish and then stamp my logo on the piece. After the ink dries I apply the next coat of finish encapsulating my mark between the layers. I have had very good results using this method.

Nice end result there! A little tip/idea for your makers mark. I notice the ink bleeding into the wood, try putting on a coat or two of shellac first, it should seal it nicely. I do that for writing, stamping, ink transfering etc. It really works quite well and shellac dries super fast.

Nope, sorry, that's awful. Keith is the only woodworker I've ever seen take reclaimed wood and not make it worse. That's why he is a craftsman and not a 'maker'...
@jakematic

My career started as a finish carpenter, and after a decade of that I moved into ultra-high end solid cherry and mahogany furniture in a production environment for another decade. Quite certain I've got a good handle on the terms. Just as there is a difference between a carpenter and handyman, there is too in other arenas... It is all down to personal taste, and Don sums it up well (for me at least) ibuildit.ca/offcuts/live-edge/

Latched on is correct - latched onto my original comment complimenting Keith's work and providing an unwanted video of another table I do not like. It is called providing background, not bragging. Doesn't matter who made the table in the other video, not everyone will love it... but that point is already lost. Apologies for 'triggering' you after insisting it would change my mind. It did not.
@jakematic
@jakematic 6 жыл бұрын
Yes you win- a self-appointed participation trophy for haranguing others over a style not everyone favours, and a piece I'd rather feed the woodstove with than look at. None of this has anything to do with Keith's project... which as stated turned out very appealing.

A good end result. :-) One thought on the blocks (turnbuttons) you made to secure the top: Normally, they'd be made with the grain running in the other direction, where it's less likely to break. But then they're more time consuming and fiddly to make and I doubt you'll have any trouble.

We are all becoming better woodworkers with people like yourself and the king 'Paul Sellers'... I would of liked the legs to be metal..(yes, that personal taste) I know you don't have much experience in metalwork, but the outlay isn't expensive with a second-hand MIG welder...anyway, good informative video as usual...
