Looking this from your view. I agree. Many tend to forget that Ei has secluded herself for centuries, barely having any form of social contact aside from Miko and Sarah --- and going outside could be an difficult moment for an introverted or hikkikomori. It was necessary for Ei, with light steps to see what is happening beyond her room. This same mentality this also applied for Ayaka's quest, while see it as a simp for the Traveller's date. I see it as for Ayaka accepting her destiny, accepting her mother's wishes and wishes to be an normal girl.

I can see why Makoto was the original electro archon. She really has the more deep understanding of eternity than Ei despite being closely associated with transience. Because she understood the only thing eternal is transience, or change. Eternal transience. Just as the name Ei means shadow, Makoto in Japanese means truth. Raiden means god of thunder and lightning. So together, Raiden Makoto, means true god of lightning or thunder. Poor Ei, forever living in her sisters shadow, literally. This story quest was beautiful.

This quest proves to me that the first one was more used to set up this one. The first one is about starting the process of Ei changing her mind on the world outside her plane of euthymia, and realizing that change isn’t bad. The second one is about facing her past, coming to terms with her loss and grief, and then moving onwards, accepting all the challenges that come with it.

@An Artist In a Void I think there was a tonal issue though. In principle, showing Ei around Inazuma to show her that her attempts for complete stillness (eternity) were not only harmful but completely futile is genius. And Ei's change of perspective (and that she doesn't immediately commit to changing things) is believable. However, the way certain things were framed (the Dango milk and the light novels) and how Ei's demeanour was, all the way up until the ending with the Kujou clan, did make it less a situation where the Traveller and Paimon were teaching Ei about the modern Inazuma and left it feeling more like a date than anything else. This new quest though suited things a lot better. We learn more about the pain that Ei has been harbouring for the last few centuries and what it means for her to rule Inazuma (and are given a more firm look at the context behind her decisions). This new quest takes Ei a lot more seriously than the previous one

Though one could argue that her seeing the new and weird(to her) yet enjoyable things that the Raiden date showed could be the foundation from which Ei’s realization about eternity started. That’s the way I like to think it anyway. Let’s take into consideration the events of the Inazuma archon quest while analyzing Ei’s character arc. The events of the archon quest started Ei’s doubts about humanity and eternity. The date would prove to be confirmation of these doubts not being baseless. To Ei, these completely new enjoyable things that came to be from the world moving forward, would show that the world is better off, not because of stillness, but because of change. And the second story quest, where the Sacred Sakura Tree shows Ei the painful past, forces Ei to compare the Inazuma of the past, and the Inazuma of the present, and she comes to the conclusion that the present of Inazuma is preferable, and that it is better because of change.

If you think about it those two represent Eternity in a way that contradict each other. Makoto's philosophy sees Eternity as a person, animal or objects memory, something that is eternal in the eye of the beholder, and might not be important or known to others. Ei's eternity is something all would know, a state that never changes and easily observed. One is eternity pieced together by moments, one is eternity as a picture, unmoving but preserving. Tldr how the Raiden sisters are two halves of a whole and how they both represent Eternity

I really love this cutscene, the voice actor did an amazing job portraying Ei's feelings. You can really feel them. Everything about this cutscene is really amazing. The part when Makoto says "this time, it's really goodbye Ei" is the favourite.

I think this is the first cutscene where we actually see Istaroth explicitly shown taking an active role in the lore. We've only been reading about him/her in the past especially in Enkanomiya (Dainichi no Mikoshi) and Mondstadt (Thousand Winds Temple) history. And basing from the readings, the God of Time is not just a sub character but is actually one of the most prominent characters in the game.

What a wonderful quest, it really complimented Ei as a character and also gave us a glimpse in who she was and her own ambition. Also, whatever people may say, right now I feel like the Raiden Shogun twins are the most powerful archons because Ei was able to avoid erosion which pretty much threatened to end Morax; as well as this instance, how the both of them seemingly were the cause of the beginning while at the end. Space and time (which brings the aspect of erosion for the Gods) seems to be of little effect on them.

Ei only resisted erosion because she pursued eternity through stillness and also gave up her own body to resist it because the spirit can never be eroded. The strongest you say? Both of them are flawed, they lack what the other one have which is why they complimented each other. But that doesn’t mean they are one, when makoto died look at what happened to ei. Also, based from your logic, shouldn’t Barbatos be the strongest archon then? Erosion clouds the mind and turns the Allies into foes like what happened to azhdaha while moral endured the pain of having to seal his own friend which is also a form of erosion. Ei’s thinking Was mistaken to be erosion by the shogun, which further proves that erosion affects the memories.

@@SpikeTheWolf Erosion was a concept introduced in Zhongli's second story quest. It was shown to be affecting Azhdaha, turning him from a kind and loyal friend to Morax's enemy. It is simply the effect of time on all beings. It can have different symptoms, but in the end, it changes a person. It takes thousands of years, thus mortals are generally long dead before it happens to them. Azhdaha's erosion made him aggressive and caused him to lash out at humans and his own god. He also couldn't remember the real reason he was so angry anymore. Zhongli revealed one of the main reasons for his retirement was his worry that he'll erode soon. With the insane power of an archon, he couldn't risk that level of threat to his people. The Shogun puppet thought Ei was eroding because her ideals shifted wildly from the Shogun's programming. But Ei proved lacking a physical body prevents erosion. And finally, the Travail trailer makes it seem like Dainsleif might be losing his memories over the millennia. This could be erosion or some other curse.

At this point our only lead seems like Venti. Ei arrived when the fighting was almost over and was too focused on other things, Zhongli is bound by a contract and the Dendro Archon only got the position right after Khaenri'ah. Albedo might've helped but he was created after it happened too. That or the Pyro Archon since the Teyvat trailer mentions that she'll share some secrets.

@@Blue-Code To explain in detail: Gold was a Khanrian alchemist who studied and dabbled into the abyss. Gold is assumed to have created both durin and albedo, however there were speculations that gold had a daughter who was the one who created albedo. (But so far we don't fully know) From what we know, gold had somehow opened up a gateway between the abyss and teyvat and teyvat was flooded with abyssal monsters everywhere. Rostam (the person who created the favonius blade work) had left mondstadt with the grandmaster of mondstat at the time and Rostam was killed and then resurrected by the abyss. Signora was in love with Rostam and when learning of his death from when she came back from the academy, she was enraged and turned into the witch of flames and protected mondstadt from the abyssal monsters. I forget how much the cataclysm affected liyue, but we know it nearly destroyed inazuma due to Chiyo becoming corrupted, kitsune Saiguu dying and makoto dying. From what we know, the only reason khanriah was completely wiped out was due to golds choices, however I do believe khanriah was cursed by either the celestial gods or the abyss and now the people of khanriah are entities of the abyss (We do know the abyss has the power to warp time and resurrect the dead).
