There is a two seagulls one train slap in this video :D remember to comment with a Seagull Emoji when you find it. Hehehehe. Going through the old tunnel again after being closed for such a long time was weird. The difference between them is pretty insane.

Does this mean that there were two seagulls killed by a train in this video? Or have I misunderstood? I really look forward to your videos, saw you once on a documentary too, but if I did understand properly than I wouldn't think a :D is appropriate, especially for the seagulls. @@RailCowGirl I've always been interested in electricity, so my attention tends to wander to the catenary. :) Near as I can tell, there are seven styles of catenary poles on the Norway rail system (wood, concrete, three types of lattice, Gardermoen Line, and now I-beam). In the tunnels, I see three different styles of support fixtures, then on the Oslo end of the line, there are the solid bus-bar catenaries in the tunnel there.

Glad to see your back! Looking forward to seeing more trips across Norway. Question; have you ever considered besides shooting the rails ahead but to also to shoot out the side as your travelling forward? I often catch myself glancing to the edge of my iPad screen to see scenery on the sides as your train travels over bridges through valleys along rivers with waterfalls. It maybe too much trouble editing what to choose, split screens, etc. Thanks for all the trips you’ve taken me on from a few thousand miles away.

Wonderful video as always. Though, this locomotive has some high pitched noise. At about 12.3 kHz, it is quite annoying. (there is another tone at 16.8 kHz, but few can hear that high.) I ponder what it could be, I doubt it is part of the drive train since it doesn't change pitch proportional to the train's speed, something one usually sees from inverters/motor-drivers. So it is likely something else. I ponder if it might be a compressor given that it is very audible at 2:35:50 until what I suspect is the compressor doing the classical "relief" at the end of its cycle and the high pitched sound rapidly diminishes after.

Yep, it is a very noisy machine with the old compressors. I always use ear protection on these

@@RailCowGirl That sounds horrible. Could really need some sound dampening on those. High pitched sounds are usually somewhat easy to quench with only 3-5 cm of insulation. (rock wool typically does this fairly well.) Likely won't make it silent, but should dampen it a lot for fairly minimal cost. I am surprised the train operator hasn't done something about it.

@@Unknownety there isn’t any space for that. The compressor needs to be changed.

@@RailCowGirl In that case I hope it happens sooner rather than later. trains do tend to have long service lives.

Are you using a new camera? The video is fantastic, and the details are so sharp.

It was a bit scary at the section where the track maintenance was being carried out. 40kph seemed a little quick to me. 😲

Hehe, nope, it is the speed set. If there had been need for it, they would have lowered the speed even further.

🐦🐦 3:16:10 What I am amazed with is no chatting on the radio at all. Even during day shifts. Is it GSM that provides direct contact with given train? Or do you cut them for the video like during shunting in Bergen? Because still on our state railways we use regular VHF radio, so you have to focus to catch your train number in that constant yapping. Especially on large stations, where many trains depart. Yet here - total silence and calmness. With these silent locomotives I believe you can be way less tired after 3,5h drive and get ready for another.

we do not use open communications in Europe, we use GSM-R. So yes, GSM with rail functionality.
