Great video Cat! Just goes to show ya... when a situation hands you lemons, make lemonade! In life, it is easy to get bummed and negative minded when things don't go the way you had envisioned them in your head. Learning to take things as they come, and just going with the flow often leads to unexpected (positive) outcomes. It's also hard to get depressed when you're with Nature, no matter how many Lemons she hands you.

I love all of your backpacking adventures, especially those with Joey. He is a person I would have loved to hike with. At 76, I now van camp (full time nomad). My long bucket list did not include Catalina Island. My daughter told me that it is a "must-see" place. After watching this video, I will add it to my bucket list. I left Lake Arrowhead yesterday due to the impending storm. My van is RWD only and even with off-road tires it does not traverse snow or ice easily. Great adventure, Catherine!

I was delighted to see Catalina like that.Didnt you and you neice do it? I've been slathered in mud like that once too, I believe it has alot of clay in it. Eastern Washington...a mud extravaganza! But I laughted myself silly. Lovely music, Cat and the moody clouds were a plus....Those were California sea lions.

I did that over a decade ago! Brought back memories for me! The views were amazing. I did it in the summer and it was blazing. I lived in SoCal back then, now I live in a small rural town in NorCal and we have a family of gray fox that live on our property, they come out during the day and pretty much coexist with us but we treat them as wild animals. Their babies are the cutest little things!!! ❤

One thing you can always count on is that nature is the most powerful source on earth and beyond anyone’s control. You made lemonade out of lemons this time. Your excellent editing and musical choices provided us with a beautiful experience as usual. Thanks for your efforts and determination to always enjoy nature however it expresses itself. So glad the sun graced you before your adventure was over. Your observations are always a pleasure. ❤

Nice hiking trip on Catalina Island. The beach side campsites were so nice. Always nice to be by the ocean. After the rainy days, the rest was good weather for you. It's always a victorious feeling when we make the best of what mother nature gives us and not let it stop us. The ferry ride was an added plus. Very enjoyable video.

Hi Cat (and Joey), another great storytelling adventure! I look forward to your videos, doesn't really matter the subject, you make any subject come alive on screen. I got to camp at Catalina at twin harbor when I was a freshman in high school on a school trip, back in 1976. Thanks for the bringing back some good memories 😎🕊

Cat... Hello green eyes. Pretty cool to see the Battleship Iowa (BB-61) on your way out of the harbor. And your visitor in your first camp was awesome. Reminds me of my friends Ralph and Alice. They have become quite tame and wait on my deck for a treat from me nearly every day. Yes I know I shouldn't take care of them like I do. Yeah I noticed your hair in this video. It's been a very long time since you've wore it in braids. And that crazy wild thing you had going on the last day. I kinda like that for some reason. 😊 Really awesome adventure sweetheart. Perfect way to start your new year. Even with all the mud. Have a great week Cat. Be good. Randy. 🤟 p.s... thanks for sharing with me. You made my day.

Brings back memories. My last job before I retired was with the Catalina Island Conservancy. My office was in Long Beach above the Catalina Express terminal but my employees all worked and lived on the Island so I got to go over about once a week for the 5 years I was there. My Island office was in the building on the other side of the street from the hotel you stayed in. I was there during the completion of the TCT, the building of the Trailhead Visitors Center, and the addition of all the bathrooms, fox trash cans, shade structures and the rebuilding of the runway at the airport. Hoping to get one of my sailboats over to Two Harbors this spring or summer. Thanks for sharing your adventure!

26 miles across the sea. Santa Catalina, is waiting for me, Santa Catalina, the island of romance, romance, romance! Darn, and here I'm camping at the "Q"! Used to live in Anaheim, crossed island off bucket list in '72. Boo Hoo. Hoping you had a great time....didn't get seaship on the little white steamship. In military I crossed Atlantic and Pacific oceans, never became seasick. For people who have never been on the high seas.....500 ft ships are just a bobber in the water.

Catalina Island has become one of our favorite vacation places over the years. You really do feel like you are so far away from the hustle and bustle of the mainland. Our family spent a week in Avalon, at a rental house, last June. The boat from Avalon to Two Harbors was running, so we spent one day exploring the area around Two Harbors. We hiked around, saw some bison, and even got to enjoy the beach, which we practically had all to ourselves! Saw lots of TRT hikers and it's now on the list of trips my husband and I want to do. Probably a March or April timeframe when there is less rain, but not too much heat either. Thank you for sharing your adventures!
