One thing about this fight I think about, is that people see when arle goes ultra instinct and complain how she suddenly powered up, but if you watch the fight carefully... Arle is always way stronger than "Mother" in terms of pure power, and flings her around multiple times. If you pay attention to the movements, she spends most of the fight on the offensive, getting deflected and chasing after Mother, who is narrowly parrying her strikes and running away trying to find an opening, which is when she blasts arle by taunting her into a reckless attack. It's insane to me how well thought out that sequence is just as a choreographed fight.

I’m glad you pointed this out… I’d also like to add the subtle work on “Mother” and her facial expressions. She’s trying to project arrogant confidence, but watch her face change into surprised struggle every time she’s blocking Arle’s attacks. She’s trying to be wily, but Arle is putting real pressure on her. Also, Arle’s power up is really coming from her embracing the curse on some level… her arm is almost completely covered when she goes for the final blast. She’s also using the anime trope of powering up from the spirits of others, I think… Clervie definitely because of the flower, but I’ve felt like the children’s chorus kicking in is Arle basically becoming the agent of revenge for all of the children of that cursed House.

For context, Clervie definitely stabbed herself, probably after handling Arle the blade. When she falls, we still that the sword is still through her abdomen, while Arle's hands are down and she's holding her own sword. And judging by the shape, she came to fight "Mother" using Clervie's sword. Sadge. It would also explain the "I'm sorry" from Clervie (having broken the promise to go see the aurora).

This is at best conjecture based on what's likely just animation errors. But at least it's better conjecture than "mother shot an ice spike through her"

I've also seen someone point out that Clervie looked clean and healthy, while Arle already had blood on her person. It could be that Arle and Clervie teamed up during the battle between oprhans, which would make the final so much more cruel, because Arle could've tried protecting Clervie the whole time. Would also explain the 'thank you'.

Not only is it personally annoying to see blatant misconceptions spread like they're facts regardless of context, but because of the scale of this community it's pragmatic to take the excessively wrong ones down a peg when given the opportunity. Theorizing is all well and good, in fact it's great fun in most cases, but the sheer confidence and toxicity about this particular matter has been baffling.

The Mother was also the previous number four as well I believe, so Arle in her MID-TEENS (From the looks of her) killed the possible former #4 harbinger simply by deciding to embrace her curse (rather than fearing it), dishes out a single kick that most likely shattered all Mother's ribs, literally imbedded her in the ceiling about 50ft up and then proceeded to use ONE blast that levels then entire grounds in about a 100ft to 200ft radius... Yeah no this gal ain't human in the slightest an I'm so here for it!

I feel like I have explained this toa thousand different people by now. Arlecchino does NOT actually have a Curse, she was born with a special power that came in the force of flames, which she is unable to use without burning herself, her skin turning black is a sign of her burning her skin to charcoal. It was called a curse because it was more detrimental than beneficial before she gained her Vision. In fact, her second phase in her boss fight is her using those flames at the same time as her Vision, because unlike the other Harbingers, she does not NEED a Delusion to get her power boosts.

Anybody who thinks it objectively does make things better is just a closeted edgelord lmao I've played so many games that don't show much blood, if any at all, and they're still some of the best pieces of fiction ive played. Persona 2 is a prime example. There is like two showings of blood on a character's portrait and that's it. Both are only for a single cutscene too, yet that game's story still goes harder than many stories / games that have blood more commonly.
