A few years ago I found “Roscoe” in the road. He was as young as Carrie. No trees, nests or adults I took him home. I called all of the bird rescues but nobody responded. Feeding him was a challenge but I muddled my way through it. Later I “taught” him how to find crickets and worms before releasing him. But after numerous releases and returns I decided he could stay. We put a huge cage in our sunroom but the doors were always open so he had access to the whole room. He housebroke himself as he would return to the cage to relieve himself. He solved fairly complex puzzles. He loved visitors and would fly to strangers entering the room. Sadly somebody reported me and he was confiscated and released in mid winter. The head of the wildlife commission called me hours later and apologized.

2 baby cardinals in my bush out front, one just jumped out prematurely and went hopping to the street. I got him back to the bush but he is just hanging on to a branch. Looking at ways to raise him if the parents leave him be. Otherwise the stray cats will get him. I'll post updates.

What a lovely video! My daughter rescued a baby cardinal after a nest crow attack. The parents never came back so she brought it home because it had an air sac injury and was all puffed up with air under the skin, which luckily went down in a day or so. We have successfully hand fed it and it is now flighted in our back yard but begs for food constantly. Feeding cut fruit and soaked kitten food and dried blood worms it has gotten very big with full wing and tail feathers and it's beak is turning black. Any help transitioning the bird to eating on it's own would be greatly appreciated. I can't find anything online about this issue. It does pick up small sticks thinking they are food. Should I just put seed out? Every time I find a caterpillar I feed it to the bird and it eats them with relish. Thank you!

Amazing! I love cardinals so much. And this video did not disappoint you had some really great cute footage! 🥰🥰🥰. The same thing happened to me recently (mixing up the gender I mean) I have been feeding the same adult male and female pair of cardinals for three years now, they visit my backyard many times throughout the day yet I never saw any of their babies except for this year, and finally I had seen them! Every time I saw them though, it was one parent and the baby, (by the time I first saw the baby it was a fledgling was old enough to peck at seeds on the ground, though the parents would still feed it and it would flutter it’s wings and make a cute sound lol) anyway, I kept seeing one parent at a time with the baby, who I assumed was a female because she was brown, but then eventually i saw her and she had a light red on her chest the same as Carrie did and I started to wonder if she was a male, and then sometimes I would see her and she would seem more brown again! Well you can guess that there was two baby cardinals, but it didn’t become apparent to me until I saw the red on the chest and it started looking like: 2:03 and 2:31 ish. Anyway, sorry for the long comment, and thank you for raising this little cutie bird and for sharing the amazing footage with us! 😊

Ive got a baby now. Ring test is the best bc I use to raise doves and the one I have is a female. She's about 2wks old. She eats kitten food bc of high protein. And then I start mixing seeds in around the time they start eating on there own. But I wean them off of it when they are done molting there first molt then release. Most birds will imprint and when that happens they are too tame to turn back in the wild.
@prismaticdesignsandsigns39074 жыл бұрын
I've heard of people using kitten food, I've never done it myself though. I've never had a problem weaning or having a bird end up too tame to return to the wild, but this Cardinal did have his moment of attachment. Now he's well on his own ❤️

I just found an Abandoned Baby Cardinal that fell out of a Nest. We put it back for a good 4 hours and the Parents were flying around the area, but they didn’t know where he was. The dad was sitting right next to him. So we left them alone, and in between the 4 hours something must have happened because when we came back he was still there, and the Parents weren’t even Chirping. We took him in and are currently feeding it the super expensive Wet Cat food. It made it through the Night, and we are going to our relatives. I am bringing it, because it is not old enough to eat on its own. We are going to contact a Shelter. I don’t want for him/her (I named it Journey) to be taken away, by a shelter. But also I want to make sure it’s ok and for it to be able to go back into the wild.....

Keep strong. Dont forget that despite the struggles and madness in this world today, God is full of justice, mercy and love. Justice said we broke His perfect law - causing the world's previous perfection to be destroyed - and therefore we deserve Hell (like a punishment in any legal system but this is eternal as His perfect law is eternal too). Don't think you fit in that category? Ever done one of these?: lying, stealing - regardless of how small the object EVER, hating others - which is murder in God's perfect law, lusting (plus God sees our entire thought life). Justice says "the soul that sins shall die" - if we break one in thought/word/deed it's as if we're guilty of all of them. Quite simply, living by the law (which is doing everything perfectly) is impossible for sinful humans . The law shows us that 1. We will die in Hell if we fail to follow it and 2. We cannot save ourselves BUT, 3. God's perfect, immovable law points us to Christ, who followed and fulfilled the law in thought, word and deed perfectly in our place. He did what we couldn't and did it on our behalf. He was then sentenced to death on a cross, and took our personal punishment for our sin, paying our penalty (like paying our fine) completely FOR us, and has given us freedom. If we turn from the sins we have committed and repent (pursue the opposite direction of love through Christ) He will, overtime, recreate us back into that previously perfect image through The Holy Spirit which Jesus sends to all who accept Him as their personal Lord and Savior of their life. He will help us through the struggle, the stress, and anything we experience in the world. It's about letting Christ in to guide and teach you and obeying Him through His power (not ourselves, we need Him to help us as it's impossible without depending on His power and instruction). He is our substitute in His life, death and resurrection. He essentially rewrote history in our place so that, if you believe in Him, it will be as if you had never sinned if you accept Christ's death as our own in our place. He is in Heaven right now preparing a place for us so that He can take His faithful, believing children home with Him when He returns. He will ressurrect us from death when He returns, giving mercy to those who accept His love, instruction and teachings in their life, and give justice to those who refuse it. He doesn't want ANY of us to go to Hell and die for continuing in evil and rejecting His way to life, thats why He died FOR us. Hes giving EVERYONE a chance, He wants everyone to take the free gift of salvation from Hell. He wants us to be His and begin to follow His life of love and service through His power and abiding (staying) with Him. So long as we keep our hearts near to Christ through His strength, strive to follow His will of perfect love revealed in the Bible, and let Him lead in the midst of (very certain) pitfalls and struggles, we will, in time, win the ultimate victory over sin, pain and DEATH through Christ. Even if you are willing to be made willing, pray for Jesus to come in and He will do what we can't. Give us The Holy Spirit who will guide us in the right way. Christ says in John 16:33: I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace. In the world you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous [be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy]; I have overcome the world.” [My conquest is accomplished, My victory abiding.] - (AMPLIFIED version) NOTE: You are NEVER too sinful or messed up that God cannot turn your life around through Jesus. EVER. Regardless of what you've done or what you're going through you CAN make it through Jesus.

Don't worry. If you properly bond with a young bird, it will never bite you in a way that hurts, just nibble your hand in an attempt to preen your nonexistent feathers. Songbirds aren't violent animals and they're smart enough to understand if they are hurting you, so they'll try not to.

Christine C. Peck is a stab, a bite is something they can still do.parrots bite, they chew, etc. A cardinal actually can bite and I think it can hurt but it’s not the end of the world if it happens I imagine it wouldn’t hurt that bad and it’s worth it to save/rescue, raise, and release a cardinal
