I daily drove an ND1 for over 4 years, and absolutely loved it. Many times I'd park my car in the driveway and stop and look at it on my way into the house, thinking, "This is the coolest thing I will ever own." Lately I've been shopping a couple new cars, and leaning toward a new GR86 Premium. I think I'd love it, but I know I would love the Miata if I buy another one. At this point I'm just waiting for a couple new ND3s to arrive at local dealers before I decide to buy either a new Miata or the Toyota.

But I'm very happy with my new Si! I came close to buying a new GR86 a couple times, but the Si is more comfortable, rides better, is far more practical, was cheaper to buy, and gets much better fuel economy, which is a huge factor to me as I'm driving more than 20,000 miles/year. I had a 96 Miata (I had to have the pop headlights) and absolutely loved it. I used to daily drive it year round in great lakes weather. Hot humid summers with heavy rains, bone chilling cold winters with blizzards and ice, etc…all season tires and the car did it all. Only reason I got rid of it is I just got a bit tired of sitting down into a car and then having to climb up/out of it. That’s just a personal preference and doesn’t reflect the car itself. The car is what it is. I don’t think anyone would regret buying a Miata. Perfectly balanced and not overpowered to ruin that balance.

2022 GT RF owner here, same great color. It's amazing - this design has been out since 2016 and it still gets looks and compliments. It's still endless fun. It's still easy to insure and easy on gas. And 2024 makes it even better and with the interior improvements, has me wondering if it's time to trade up. Or Raiti, and I'd like your opinion, Mazda is hinting loudly that the 35th anniversary edition will be built, but no US sales decision yet. You think it's coming over? The 30th sold out very quickly. And I have a theory about the antenna. Base MX-5s don't have navigation. So they have to use the old fashioned antenna. I believe, but not certain, the shark fin is not on the very rare base model. Last edit: Just watched your GTI 380 review. You've tested them all. Best manual transmission shifting feel and fun under $50k. CTR, Elantra N, MX-5, Golf R, Toyburu twins, GTI, WRX... I purchased a ND3 GT soft top manual about 6 weeks ago and I absolutely love it. I prefer the GT because it brings quite a few more features that you don't get on the Club. Joe, the Club does not have adaptive headlights, only the GT gets those, which is one reason a lot of people prefer the GT. You get this wrong every time you review a Miata Club. Also, the new infotainment screen is touch capable only in car play and android auto, but not in the native Mazda software. The Club really doesn't offer any performance improvement, unless you go for the optional BBR package, which is overpriced and even with that option package the performance difference is imperceptible. I'd rather have the better equipped GT and modify it to my personal liking, which is exactly what I plan to do.

My lil bro has a 1990 Miata that he’s going to tune maybe install a turbo. Dunno he’s going really jack it up!

Why does this car have the sharkfin antenna AND that RC car-style antenna? Is the sharky for satellite only? Mine on my Elantra GT Sport does both.

Hey Joe when are you gonna put one of these in your garage? You’re in Fla. and no convertible?!? I bet you would drive it more than you expect. I’d get one now before they ruin it by going hybrid or full electric. Rumor has it a 35th anniversary is coming out in brg, that would be the one to get!

I drove a Triumph for many years, and wanted a Miata. Until I sat in it. I'm tall with a long torso, and no matter how low the seat is, I'm looking at the top of the windshield unless I scrunch down. Great car, but not for me.

The aftermarket has lowering adapters at reasonable prices. Also, the "Toyobaru" twins would be a great alternative if top down driving isn't important to you.

Joe, how do you maintain a driver's license? And why is there such little traffic there?

Hmm, To be honest I'd keep the antenna and remove the shark fin, it doesn't look like it belongs there either

I can't decide between a BRZ or a Miata as my next car. Which one should I get? My wife will have a Bronco Sport Badlands.

I prefer top down, wind in the hair, sounds and smells of the experience. But I also fit well in my ND2.
