The Ramones were well known for keeping their songs short. "1-2-3-Fo!" Surf rock bubblegum pop with a grindy edge! "Sheena Is a Punk Rocker" -- at two minutes forty nine seconds -- was the longest song on the album that featured it and the longest of their songs up to that date. Discotheque is another name for a nightclub, typically a dance club were records are played. The word is often shortened to disco. Discotheque-a-go-go -- the "-a-go-go" suffix is just an embellishment that some clubs attached to their names to give them some pizazz, that is, vitality and glamour. Microphone stands are strong enough to lean into like that, although lean in too hard and the feet at the bottom might bend or snap off. Those old mic stands were made from hollow metal tubes, aluminum or light steel. They'll break if you smash them over something harder. I would not want to get hit with one or worse, impaled with one. Ouch! PS. That reminds me, after having a mic stand break on him during a show, Freddie Mercury of Queen kept going with just the microphone on a stick and discovered that he liked it better that way and ended up making the microphone stick a signature of his performances.

Joey really leaned into his mic (I was privileged to see them play live in venues both large and really small clubs). He was super tall, like 6'6", or 198cm) but a beanpole, I doubt he ever weighed more than 170 or 180lbs (or 77kg to 82kg, 12 to 13 stone, whatever standard of weight you use). In the early days I would estimate him weighing no more than 140lbs!!! He was one of the skinniest tall dudes I had ever seen when they first hit in the 1970s The mic is not pulling him at all of course, the stand/base was extra heavy. Matchless energy, one of my favorite all time bands more than worthy of a deep dive!!! Joey was a genius in my opinion and a very humble, soft spoken dude in person....could be very sarcastic and funny nevertheless. I really loved him and I was truly crushed when I learned of his early demise.
