One of the best bands to see live. No rest between songs.

I even caught them on their final tour, and they still had the volume and tempo cranked up, with the only thing resembling a rest being the counts to start the next song. Well, almost the only thing (about 98%), since they did take some moments here and there to do a little banter, acknowledging the audience, and thanking everyone for joining them for their last big blast. Like I said, though, “moments”. They never lingered on it for long, and would go right back into another string of several songs in a row.

Blitz(Lightning)-Krieg(War) Bop. "1-2-3-4" Go. Ramones were HEAVILY influenced by Surf Rock, The Beatles and Elvis Presley. Got to see the three times, they were awesome.

Nice! The first time I heard that album I was twelve or thereabouts. I rode my bike over to a buddy's house to go swimming in his pool and his older brother was blasting it from the stereo along with the Blue Öyster Cult Secret Treaties album. My buddy lived in a slightly run down two story house built in the 30's or 40's and the upstairs room had a big window that opened onto the roof of the patio next to the pool. We would climb through the window onto the roof and from there jump into the pool. Then we would get out and run through the house dripping wet and do it again. It was super dangerous but we did it anyway, at least until his older sister got home and told us to chill on the stunt work. You're right, the Ramones were not widely popular back then. Their sound was quite different from the hard rock bands that ruled the radio. But they were popular enough to drive the 1979 teen exploitation film Rock 'n' Roll High School. What happened was that teeny boppers turn into teenagers right quick, and Ramones kept dropping albums and gaining popularity into the eighties. Some of the other highlights from that album include "Rockaway Beach", "We're a Happy Family", "Teenage Lobotomy", "Do You Wanna Dance?", and "Surfin' Bird", a cover of the surf rock classic by the Trashmen.

It's pronounced "Blits - kreeg bop" ('Blitzkrieg bop') ... 'Blitzkrieg' is a German word used to name an effective attack by Hitler's German military using air, missile and tank offenses that overwhelmed most of Europe's armies during World War II... The word itself was not sympathetic to German nazis but was used by the Ramones to describe the crazy reaction to music in clubs and bars. Blitzkrieg was also the name of a British heavy metal band... Metallica covered their song 'Blitzkrieg'.

While The Ramones created their distinctive sound, don't you find this has a Beach Boys vibe?

Yep. The melody at "Well the kids are all hopped up and ready to go" is very similar to "Fun, Fun, Fun." And the tempos are pretty close as well.
