We lost another guitar great Duane Eddy on April 30, 2024 four days after his 86th birthday. Ramrod was released as a single in 57 by Al Casey, it did little, when Al played with Duane on Dick Clark's American Bandstand they ran short on time so Clark asked them to play another song to fill the gap, they did Ramrod immediately getting requests for the record, the original was quickly remixed with added sax & rebel yells, re-released by Duane Eddy in 58 ! This video is from a record release party at Antone's Records for a Tailgators album of live recordings in 86, thumbnail photo taken at Antone's Club that was across the street at the time.
Godspeed Duane Eddy, gone but not forgotten

What a better place than a record shop to hear music like this! Back in the 50's it was common for singers to visit the local record stores in the towns where they performed... I still like youse guys "Switchblade" Was that an original song?

Link Wray 79, written by Billy Cross, Wyeth, Wray, Gothehrer, Stoner, Gordon. Back when they were in Robert Gordons band, sort of a hard take-off of the Peter Gunn Theme

@@boppin_bennie - totally forgot, thanks Guardell. Loved when Robert Gordon and Link Wray played together. Link was a monster and when my sister brought "Rumble" home, I put my ears up to the speaker and turned that record player up LOUD!

@@cguzelli1 cool ! Originally titled "Oddball" when Phil Everly heard it (also on Cadence) he said it sounded like a rumble so it got retitled ! Sure you know radio stations banned it thinking it may cause street fights but it sold well anyway & now in the library of congress !
