Ramshorns will even lay eggsacks on the shells of other snails! LOL! I have a 20 gallon tank which I had been keeping some mystery snails in, but which also has ramshorns in it. I moved all the mystery snails out a while back, and now I can remove a hundred ramshorns a day, every day, and never seem to run out. It is insane. Luckily, my local fish store takes them all, mostly to use as food for their puffers and other snail-eating fish. To give you an idea of how crazy fast these suckers will reproduce if given the right conditions, in the past 12 months, out of just two tanks (40 and 20 gallons), I have delivered over 30,000 ramshorns to my LFS. Yes, THIRTY THOUSAND of them in 12 months, from just two tanks. It boggles the mind what these snails are capable of!

I just had recieved 11 ramshorns in mail today. They were the size of a watermelon seed. Introduced them to my 66 gallon community tank. An hour later i could not find a single one specimen. My koi, cichlids, barbs, plecos and knifefish dined on them and the plants that came along in the mail. I filed a complaint to the seller that he sold me babies while he showed me pics of adult ramshorns. He said that i can get anything I want in compensation anytime i want for the amount I spent on the plants and snails. RIP Today is a sad day for me. I was so excited for my ramshorns😐

They are awesome....nothing cleans better.....just make sure theres not alot of excess food in the tank, then the ecosystem within your aquarium should cintrol their numbers. Having fish that hunt them is also a good idea. My Ruby Barbs definitely help to keep that control.

I have had ramshorn since 2017 and have had a love / hate relationship with them. I started with 10 of them in my 8 gallon freshwater community tank. I didn’t mind, they were friendly and nice until one day there eggs were EVERYWHERE. They gave birth and whatever I done they wouldn’t go. It’s 3 years now and they are gone

I know this video is a bit on the old side, but I have a question. I have mystery snails & my daughter has nerites as well as mystery snails. I have been looking at ramshorn snails as they are so small, cute, & colorful. I am wanting to get 1 or 2 for a couple of my smaller betta tanks where a mystery snail would out grow the tank. In my research I have discovered that ramshorn snails are asexual. That being said, my question is what is the minimum tank size required for 1 ramshorn snail? I have read & watched every available information source on them but no one has answered my question. They all say a 10 gallon for a group of "x" amount of snails, but I just want to put 1 in a 3 gallon tank with a female betta. Is that possible?
@undersurfacechannel
@undersurfacechannel 4 жыл бұрын
@ajoyrod General rule for majority of Fishkeepers is 1fish per 1liter here in Europe if we're talking about small fish like for example livebearers. So you can use the same ratio :) count how many fish/snails you want and multiply it with amount of liters. With betters I would go at least 5-10 liters per fish as they are territorial. With ramshorns I would not worry as they are relatively small and even clean your aquarium. So if we would follow the "rules" I would say 1 liter of water is minimum for 1 snail, although far from optimal. But to conclude it, whatever size tank you have with fish in, it is going to be enough for 1 ramshorn snail :) Hope that helps
