See, the problem with a close-up weapon is that the zombie blood will get on your face and potentially into your eyes/nose/mouth and cause infection.

Every piece of zombie media shows lots of zombies with only a few survivors, so no, we're talking about something which is potentially extremely contagious. Even skin contact could be enough to infect you. You'd need a full-body suit which will now get covered in a whole bunch of liquid that is almost guaranteed to kill you. It's completely impractical to use close-combat in a zombie situation.

I don't know. I figure that without notice of filming he could get off with technicality. If this was real the "zombies" surely wouldn't stay in character and you would think they'd have police to shut down streets and film hands close by. If this was police movie and he sees someone about to shoot an officer, he reacts by shooting the guy would he be at fault in that situation or is he a good guy with a gun?
