@PhantomGanhdi4 жыл бұрын
@@youronlybro9708 true but just because it is an itx case does not mean that the retail price has to be lower compared to an atx case. If the time, design, and material cost went into it then the price can be justified even if the case is smaller. If the itx case market does not have many well made and designed itx cases then a new company can raise the price and charge more if they so want because there is not much competition and not many good case designs compared to theirs.

3950X on an L9a? Good luck with that
@theunholybakery19905 жыл бұрын
Actually, the temps are lower than the 3900x's. And it's like a ~95w tdp, so it's possible. A bit toasty but possible.
@josephyang32605 жыл бұрын
dellrizlonian I agree my 3950x says in the documentation and on a sticker that came with mine that it needs at least an AIO. I mean mine is running at 50 degrees idle rip. My moms 3900x runs at around 39 degrees
@dellrizlonian5 жыл бұрын
@@josephyang3260 The AIO recommendation was lousy tbh. It doesn't need that much cooling, I believe they officially mentioned a 280mm radiator. A 240mm was proven to be more than sufficient. Aircooling it would be fine, just not aircooling it on such a dinky heatsink. I had an L9a on a Ryzen 1600 in a similar sized case and it could not keep the temps under 80c.
@dellrizlonian5 жыл бұрын
@@theunholybakery1990 It's possible in the sense that the CPU will throttle performance down to compensate for the insufficient cooling. The L9a just isn't cut out to deal with the thermal density of the Ryzen 3950X (or 3900X). Even Noctua's own recommendations on their website state that the clock speed will be below the base clocks. Also, no. The 3950X is not like a 95W TDP. 6 of the 16 cores under load will draw around 105w, 8 cores sees that go up to 120w, 10 cores will see it peak at 145w and beyond that the power draw will taper off back down to 125w as the voltage and clockspeeds drop down under a full load. See Anandtech for the source on those numbers. The L9a is meant for "65w TDP" CPUs, with good ventilation a "95w TDP" CPU is doable. Good ventilation is not having a glass panel less than 20mm from the fan blades nor is it a single choked intake from the bottom of the case.

OOOF... those thermals are going to be terrifying. Air cooling (despite Noctua) on a 3950X with the glass sides? Optimum Tech tested this case and thermals were brutal unless you were running an AIO (still hot), and he used a 9900K. I built a 9900K / 2080Ti ITX system in a Ghost S1 for a friend, and we needed the tophat and a Kraken X52 (with aftermarket Noctua fans) to keep it within good cooling spec, and it has way better ventilation than this case.
